My problem with slam poetry is that half the time it hardly even resembles poetry. If I hadn't been told it was a poem, I wouldn't call it so. Not saying all poems have to rhyme or anything, but poetry is more than just ranting and snapping your fingers.

When you start to think about what you want out of a longer term partner, a mother, eventually a grandmother, the main person in your life, perhaps you'll start to see why men are a little leery of giving that kind of respect to someone who doesn't fit that mold at all.
