When you can tell the author used a thesaurus and none of the big words actually make any fucking sense in context

>when you can tell the author used a thesaurus and none of the big words actually make any fucking sense in context

Some examples?

Lord of the Flies

Have any particularly egregious excerpts?

>reading authors shitty enough to do this

>"No," ejaculated Piggy. "This gargantuan mistake I must endure independently."

that makes sense

>"No," ejaculated Piggy
lewd

all this proves is that you don't know the meaning of those words.

What's wrong with this?

My diary

Well, this is embarrassing.

>reading
Full stop

But that makes sense. And ejaculated was a common synonym for 'exclaimed' at the time.

Subtle

>"My blood!" ejaculated the coachman

> 'My blood! ejaculated the vexed coachman, and not atop of Shooter's yet!

position shooter's atop :3

I honestly only see this on the Internet, on Veeky Forums and other fora. It's usually (as far as I can tell) done by ESLers who are desperate to be taken seriously by the native English speakers, yet they lack all control over the words.

Damn that Grandpa and his vocabulary.

Lord of the Flies was such a fun book to read in 10th grade.

I'm pretty sure OP means that it doesnt make sense for some fat child to be using words such as "gargantuan" and "endure"
