Anyone here know about head injuries?

Anyone here know about head injuries?
I seem to have some sort of internal head injury, acquired five months ago from whiplash. It's on the right side of the back of my brain and hurts whenever my neck muscles are flexed. Typing this right now is causing it to hurt. I am unable to go to a doctor because of other circumstances.
I just don't know what to do. First of all, I can't sleep for more than, usually, 6 hours in a row because of my noisy family. And I'm having trouble napping because this head injury is making my hallucinate. I'm gonna start eating better today. I got a multivitamin a week ago and have been taking fish oil from the start, but it seems like if five months' time can't heal it, nothing will.
I feel relief when I walk around with a clear mind, but it's hard to do this for more than 10 minutes because I don't really have a peaceful place to walk around in + I have other health problems that interfere with my ability to walk.
Please help.

move to a first world country and get a doctor

Do you have a fever? You might have meningitis. I got bird flu and then got it this year, thought I was going insane.

Just try to excersize, eat right, and get some anti-biotics. The hallucinations will stop once the fever starts going down.

You can get fish anti-biotics from the pet store btw, it's the same shit. Just google the dosage. Take them for 2 months.

fucking moron

you could literally drop dead any time

go to a doctor

retard

Atleast I can read, he said he can't see a doctor, so I told him what he needs to do instead.

It is probably meningitis because he has neck pain and hallucinations.

I'm not trollin op

thesurvivalistblog.net/fish-antibiotics-in-survival-settings/

Do it up, or you might get brain damage.

Ugh, no thermometer. I don't think I have a fever, though.
And I don't think it's my neck feeling pain. It's just when my neck flexes, the expanded muscle seems to press against the injured area, causing pain.

there are some "illegal" doctors with some basic knowledge of medicine.

Also how long did you have meningitis for? Can you live with meningitis for five months?

Meningitis will feel like sore muscles, but then you will get migraines and nausea. If you are puking then you probably have it.

Usually if you are having hallucinations it's because you have a fever.

Get checked out but don't worry too much, as long as you don't start having seizures you should be fine.

My illness lasted for 6 months. I got the flu, then my body was taking forever to heal thought I had aids, then I got a cut and it started pussing like crazy. Then I got the neck pain and hallucinations. It was fucked man, I still am recovering.

Doctors thought I was schizo but it stopped as soon as the fever went away.

If you have seizures or are feinting that's probably what it is.

Here's what's going to happen, OP. You're going to go see a doctor, whether you "can" or not.

What are thinking coming on the Veeky Forums of all places seeking actual medical advice. Pull yourself together, be a man, take some responsibility for your self, and go see a doctor.

Yes, it's fatal but if you are strong you can fight it off usually. It feels like a bruised neck, headaches, vomitting, cuts won't heal, hallucinations. Shit's nasty man.

No seizures, no fainting, no nausea/puking.
I thought I was hallucinating because something is putting pressure onto my brain. It's the right side of the back of the brain which I think has to do with your vision, so I thought it made sense.

Should I cut myself and see how long it takes to heal?

What do the hallucinations look like, is it lights and sounds?

If so you probably have some type of infection ya. I could hear people talking and see weird lights, that's inflammation pushing agains your sense organs. In other words an infection.

>What do the hallucinations look like, is it lights and sounds?
Images. When I lay in bed and close my eyes on a day where my head hurts, I'll see images.

>that's inflammation pushing agains your sense organs. In other words an infection.
Can't physical trauma also cause inflammation? After all, bruises cause swelling.

I saw pictures and stuff too, usually if you are concussed it will heal after a few weeks, it's most likely an infection.

I would really go see a doctor though, hallucinations are your brain tell you it's fried.

Migraines and fever usually give you the light show.

If you have auditory hallucinations then it's probably an infection.

No auditory hallucinations.
Do you still think it's worth going to the doctor? Going to the doctor is extremely extremely dangerous for me right now. Really an absolute last resort.
Do you think it's worth trying to eat healthier for a week? I think the multivitamin is helping a little.

You can try, if you have trouble breathing or eating go see doctor right away. Anxiety and hallucinations are a bad sign.

If you can eat and breath you should be alright. But I didn't heal until I went on heavy anti-biotics. Don't let them give you anti-psychotics or anything, those actually suppress your immune system.

>if you have trouble breathing
Oh right. I had some trouble breathing during the first week of this injury, actually. And I only had trouble breathing whenever the injury was irritated from moving around too much.
Thoughts? It hasn't happened since the first week.

Breathing is an automatic response, if you have trouble doing it automatically it means your shit is fuuuuuuucked.

Any chest pain or trouble breathing, go to emergency.

Definitely see a doctor man, brain infections are lethal. I'm lucky to be alive.

To be more specific, the oxygen I was inhaling felt "thin" I even opened a window to trying and get some better air.
My breathing wasn't sporadic or uncontrollable or anything.

Can physical brain trauma also decrease your healing speed by the way? I'm gonna give myself a papercut right now and see how long it takes to heal.

Lol no, immune system and breathing are automatic. If it takes a long time to heal it means your body is busy doing something else, like fighting an infection.

Trouble breathing, fever, weird lights, probably means an infection dude, which means you will die shortly once it infects something other than your autism holes.

Like I said, I don't think I have a fever. How likely is it to be an infection if a fever isn't a symptom?

Who knows but you have the same symptoms I had. I didn't even know I was sick, just thought I had some bad weed or was getting schizophrenia. Then I went on anti-biotics and the hallucinations and headaches stopped. I can sleep fine too.

If you are smoking, cut that shit out. I doubt you have a brain injury because you would be dead by now. Probably meningitis dude.

Just go to emergency if you have trouble breathing or really bad hallucinations, just tell them it's meningitis, not like they will scoop your brain out or anything.

Alright. I guess I'll buy some fish antibiotics. Which one do I get? I'm sort of lost on this.

If you're hallucinating a Veeky Forums board can't do anything. You need a real doctor, and you should't make excuses.

Feels like whenever my injury/infection gets irritated, the vision of my right eye gets fuzzy. Just happened when I accidentally touched my head.

>possible brain injury
>can't sleep
>hallucinating
Go to a fucking doctor you dumbshit

I'd love to but I can't.
Can you look up the best antibiotic for treating meningitis for me? My head is in a lot of pain from using my computer right now.

You can't buy antibiotics. They need to be prescribed by a doctor. Go to a doctor. Whatever you think is stopping you, it's not going to matter if you're fucking dead.

Maybe I'll go to a doctor. What kind of doctor should I see for meningitis? I would guess that the hospital would be the only appropriate place in case they want to MRI or CAT scan, right?

Hospital will do fine, get in there. Follow the doctor's advice. If they say MRI or CAT scan, then that's what you do. Don't give him suggestions, just follow what they say.

I don't want to stand in the waiting room for 4 hours, though.
Will my regular doctor who does my physicals suffice?

Sure.

I'm still just a premed but I personally know a concussion specialist and have dealt with treating my own batch of them sadly. But while I know a lot of about treating a head injuries right after it occurs up to a day or so, at five months there is little to nothing that can be done besides management of the symptoms. Low doses of antidepresents can be used fairly well for headaches that are caused by concussions but since your headache is caused mostly by your neck, I doubt it would help much.

It can take over a year and then some for the pain from a serious whiplash to completely go away and even then, you'll be dealing with muscular imbalances in the neck which need therapy to correct. You will most likely get better overtime.

My main question is, did you receive medical treatment when the whiplash occurred? Did you get a CT scan of the brain and spinal cord? Did you receive and use pain management after the accident? Also do you have high blood pressure? It would also be helpful to know about your physical condition, did you exercise before or after the injury? Is your body frail, robust or normal in terms of toughness?

Here's a little tip as well, start sleeping with ear plugs in. At first it's uncomfortable but now it's the only way I can sleep. If your room is too bright use something to cover your eyes as well.

>My main question is, did you receive medical treatment when the whiplash occurred? Did you get a CT scan of the brain and spinal cord? Did you receive and use pain management after the accident?
No

>Also do you have high blood pressure?
I don't think so. Although my stress ulcer is 1 year old now.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure it's technically whiplash.
Basically, I was nodding my head really hard to music every day for a long time. And then one day I lunged my head backward, and then forward really hard. And that's when I got this injury I have now.

>Basically, I was nodding my head really hard to music every day for a long time. And then one day I lunged my head backward, and then forward really hard. And that's when I got this injury I have now.

Ok see this is way different then. You're most likely looking at a pinched or damaged nerve, possible due to disc bulging. I know you said that you don't have the money but this NEEDS to be looked at by a spine specialist or at least a neurologist with a CT scan. You do not fuck with your spine considering the condition could get worse and cause serious permanent damage including becoming paralyzed.

Also I know a lot of anons are saying meningitis but honestly I would be highly surprised if you developed such a rare disorder along the same time as your injury. Plus after so long, I would expect much worse symptoms. Unless you can't find anything else wrong with your neck I wouldn't worry about it.

>anime
Can't take you seriously here.

I guess I'll go to a doctor. What kind of treatment does this type of trauma entail?

>You likely have caused encephalopathy, or trauma from microtrauma to brain tissue as seen in football players or even people with a chronic cough.
What did he mean by this? What is the treatment for this?

It depends on what exactly it is. It could require surgery or you might just have to live with it and maybe have pain management. It could be practically nothing and heal in time using therapy to strengthen the surrounding muscle for extra support.

Are you OP? That's just a general term for issues resulting from brain damage. If you're op it doesn't apply to you as the head banging would be unlikely cause any significant damage.

If you're not OP or you still want to know I could post a first aid guide to concussions.

Is it possible that a better diet could make it all go away? I've been eating pretty much nothing but junk food since I got it. But is a bad diet alone enough to make it last for 5 months?

Wouldn't make a difference. Honestly, as far as health goes, if you're in a first world country then as long as you're not sedentary you only have to worry about trans fat, mercury and eating too much or too little. Eating junk food and all won't effect you much at your age. If you were at risk for a heart attack this would be different. But either way it won't do anything for your neck unless you're malnourished.

>My main question is, did you receive medical treatment when the whiplash occurred? Did you get a CT scan of the brain and spinal cord? Did you receive and use pain management after the accident?
>No

American detected.

All the best, user. I really hope you fully recover.

Had an opportunity to nap so I thought I should take it.

I see. Thanks for all your help. I'll probably go to a doctor soon.

Thanks, man. If I were born in a better country, it wouldn't be dangerous to go to a doctor, I'd be more likely to get a competent doctor, and I might not have been ill-informed to the point of thinking this was a concussion. The last one is kind of on me but this is still America's fault!

I don't know what I'm going to do if I have to get surgery or therapy, though. The danger associated with going to the doctor is actually related to another health problem. It has nothing to do with money. I might be fucked.

>dangerous to go to a doctor
Still never explained this point...

...theres no way you can provide detail so we can actually help you?

I mean i guess its just very bad drugs or something

I was scared you wouldn't believe me I guess, but it looks like this thread is just about over so I'll explain.
A dick injury. Tore the urethra of my circumcised dick a couple days after injuring my head. It's still torn and simply wearing pants is scary. Despite its healing abilities being limited by a rather tight infant circumcision, I still found it somewhat surprised that it is still injured. If my brain injury is decreasing my ability to heal wounds then that might explain it.

I kind of want to try staying up for 48 hours to try to heal my dick (since you can't avoid erections while asleep, and they might be reopening the wound) but it would be quite unpleasant with this head injury.
But yeah the last 5 months have been a nightmare. Well, circumcision already makes your life a nightmare, so this is like a double nightmare.

user, I understand why you wouldn't want to tell someone this but honestly, that is probably the most retarded reason to not go to a doctor ever. Every doctor sadly has to go through an OB/GYN rotation, the one I'm going to dread the most, so every single doctors has seen every disgusting kind of infection you can get between your pants. A torn urthra while painful and embarrassing for you will be a nice break for the doctor in between all the yeast infections and STDs so get that checked out too when you can.

I at first was going to write a long winded comment but as someone who is going into the medical field, who has relatives and close friends who are doctors and whose dad is a insurance salesman I believe the US health care system is far superior to most pure public health care systems and efforts to push our system in that direction, ie Obamacare, need to be discarded and burnt. Less pay, less control over treatments, more paper work which means less times with the patients, same insurance plan except they're now mandatory and the money goes to the government instead of the insurance market, though I'm not a huge fan of them either, and etc.

Don't listen to this retard, go to a doctor pronto.

I'm a big proponent for a dual system, but I do live in Scotland and grew up with the NHS so make of that what you will.

Yeah, he definitely got meningitis from fucking whiplash and it lasts 5 months without changing

retard

>Going to the doctor is extremely extremely dangerous for me right now

Are you a wanted criminal?

If you can't find a doctor that will see you off the books then guess what, you're a fucking moron and you're gonna get caught anyway

OP here. Just woken up by my parents from 4 hours of sleep, as always.
What are the chances of this requiring surgery? It seems like it would be tough to get surgery with an injured dick.

>A torn urthra while painful and embarrassing for you will be a nice break for the doctor in between all the yeast infections and STDs so get that checked out too when you can.
It's not about embarrassment. I'm scared of tripping and falling and injuring my dick beyond repair and

>I believe the US health care system is far superior to most pure public health care systems
if I go to an American urologist, he's just gonna be some animal who circumcised his own children.

I'm sorry op I just don't understand why you're afraid to go to the doctor then unless you're saying that the simple act of walking around the hospital you are scared you will injure it further?

>if I go to an American urologist, he's just gonna be some animal who circumcised his own children.

While I believe circumcision is a mostly unless and unnecessary surgery where some freak accident can happen, it's a lot less harmful than people try to say. For instance, a new study came out just a few months ago that show clear results that circumcision did not effect the sensitivity of the penis whatsoever.

Also I'm mostly commenting on how the system itself is set up, not the staff or their beliefs. But America does have some of the the most competitive and top tier medical schools. If anything, I worry for our quality of nurses.

>While I believe circumcision is a mostly unless and unnecessary surgery where some freak accident can happen, it's a lot less harmful than people try to say. Fuck off. Leave my thread.

Sorry for not saging. Accident.

Explain your reasoning. What I stated was simply the popular medical opinion.

Man, is there any point in going to the doctor here?
I can't get surgery because dick injury.
I can't get neck therapy because dick injury.
And if this shit is gonna heal on its own, then going there would be pointless.

Wtf man, you sound like a schizophrenic going through a paranoid episode.

Not going to doctors because you tore your urethra?? If this was true you would be in so much pain whenever you take a piss that you would literally cry.

If your brain injury is real, it could have caused this paranoid behaviour. The fact that you're hallucinating and have an irrational fear of having your dick cut off suggests that you're psychotic and need immediate medical help. Either it's physically caused by the brain injury, or it was triggered by the anxiety over an injured neck muscle.

SEEK MEDICAL HELP NOW
and ask your family for help

user, listen to me. First you hopefully won't need surgery but even if you do, your dick being injured has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. Neither would it effect therapy. It's just something else you need to get fixed.

And if this doesn't heal by itself then you have a very good likelihood of being in permanent pain for the rest of your life. It would be way more likely to make a full recovery if you treated right now than if you waited another few months to realize it won't go away.

>First you hopefully won't need surgery but even if you do, your dick being injured has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
But the head injury is on the back of my brain. And I can't lay down because injured dick.

>Neither would it effect therapy.
Walking with pants on is really dangerous.

>It's just something else you need to get fixed.
I can't think of anything a urologist could do for me. I think my head injury may be causing my dick injury to heal super slowly.

>And if this doesn't heal by itself then you have a very good likelihood of being in permanent pain for the rest of your life.
Oh shit, really?

>I can't think of anything a urologist could do for me. I think my head injury may be causing my dick injury to heal super slowly.
>>And if this doesn't heal by itself then you have a very good likelihood of being in permanent pain for the rest of your life.
>Oh shit, really?

you won't go to the doctor because you can't lay down? unless you risk getting killed go to the doctor, they are not that stupid you know

>they are not that stupid you know
Yeah man the doctor who circumcised me was so smart.
I've been to quite a few doctors throughout life and they are all consistently shit. You clearly haven't been to an American doctor.

While that last post wasn't me you were responding too, user listen to me. I not only work with American Doctors I literally have been spending 6 hours a day this summer solely studying to become one. I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with one but if anyone on this earth can help you it's a doctor.

I don't know what happened with your circumcision but the hospital should have not only offered to treat you for free but probably would throw some money towards your way considering they don't want to be sued. If they don't now somehow about your injury then why didn't you tell them?

Second, yes they can treat a basic urethral tear. But the longer you wait the harder it will be to fix. GO TO THE HOSPITAL FOR BOTH YOUR DICK AND NECK.

>I think my head injury may be causing my dick injury to heal super slowly.

You do not have a head injury like that whatsoever nor would it effect you NEARLY that much.

>I don't know what happened with your circumcision but the hospital should have not only offered to treat you for free but probably would throw some money towards your way considering they don't want to be sued. If they don't now somehow about your injury then why didn't you tell them?
Excuse me? I think you're misunderstanding something. Perhaps you're under the impression that my circumcision was recent? It wasn't. It was right after I was born.

>Second, yes they can treat a basic urethral tear.
What could a doctor do for a urethral tear? I've been trying to think of reasons to go to a urologist for the past 5 months, but haven't been able to come up with anything.

>GO TO THE HOSPITAL FOR BOTH YOUR DICK AND NECK.
I guess I will if this head pain could become permanent.

>You do not have a head injury like that whatsoever nor would it effect you NEARLY that much.
I see. Despite tight dickskin because no foreskin, I find it surprising that my urethra is still torn. Do you think staying up for 48 hours could do the trick? Since you can't avoid erections while asleep.

Thanks for your time by the way.

>Excuse me? I think you're misunderstanding something. Perhaps you're under the impression that my circumcision was recent? It wasn't. It was right after I was born.

Yeah I obviously don't quite understand the story. You complained about the circumcision but you never directly stated why. The urethra tear is not near my specialty whatsoever nor do I know to what extent the tear is but I do know that it will generally not repair fully without medical intervention. Even staying up for 48 hours will not be long enough to heal it if it's been this long. Also your piss could interfere with the healing process. They may either correct it through surgery or some other means. Again, not my field but it won't get better unless you get it treated.

My field is related to head and spinal injuries though and without a doubt go get it checked out. Basically say while moving your head back and forth you felt a sharp pain in your neck you've had for 5 months then describe more of your symptoms including the hallucinations and such. They should want to take a look at your neck and possible your brain with a CT or MRI scan and go from there.

The reason I tore my urethra is because I don't have any foreskin to protect it.

>Also your piss could interfere with the healing process.
Well, it doesn't hurt at all to piss. So do you still think that's possible?

But yeah. I guess I'll go to my general doctor within the next few days.
Which problem do you think I should try to get rid of first? My dick or head injury?

Not the user you've been replying to, but:

>Which problem do you think I should try to get rid of first? My dick or head injury?
The doctor you go to will be able to tell you that, after assessing the damage and deciding how to treat.

I hope you'll indulge my curiousity, exactly how did you tear your urethra? I am circumcised and have never heard of it being more vulerable because of this. Nice to know what to avoid I guess?

Well, first of all my circumcision was pretty tight.
I injured it simply by failing to sit onto my toilet seat properly. I accidentally put a lot of my body's weight onto my dick when my dick was touching the toilet seat at a ~75 degree angle.
It's kind of hard to explain. Did you understand this?

I was also drinking a lot of water at this time, and therefore peeing a lot. My urethra was already strained from that. So it might not have happened without that maybe.

Like the other user said, if you're going to a general doctor then he'll be able to asses which will be more important to treat first. I generally like to just go straight to the specalists but in your case since I don't know the best course of treatment for the urethra, this is probably the best idea.

>Thanks for your time by the way.

No problem user, I wish I could help you more with the urethra but if I can get you to go to the hospital to get it checked out I'll be happy.

Wow, sounds like it was real tight. Thanks for clearing it up

Good luck, all of this sounds real painful

Unlike my general doctor, I don't think specialists really offer emergency appointments, do they? I'd have to wait like a week for a regular appointment with them.

But I don't know. I really want to do as little driving as possible for obvious reasons. Are we sure I should be going to my general doctor instead of a specialist?

Thanks. Yeah, this is Hell honestly. Especially with the people I live with making noise 24/7. Can't relax at all. Can't even sleep for more than 6 hours in a row.

OP here. Shamefully, I only recently learned that braces are unnecessary.
I stopped wearing my retainer when I got this head injury. Is it possible that my skull is shifting back to its natural shape, putting pressure on this injury, delaying its healing?

Oh shit I just realized. Going to the doctor is not pointless.
If I can get a diagnosis and convince my parents that I really do have a head injury (they don't believe me) then they'll be obligated to be more quiet and let me sleep.

>I was also drinking a lot of water at this time, and therefore peeing a lot. My urethra was already strained from that.

Bullshit. You can't strain your urethra by peeing. If you pee out bladder stone fragments it can injure the urethra, but just by peeing it's impossible.

I am 100% sure that I am not mistaken about this.
Perhaps it's because of a tight circumcision? A tight circumcision slightly warp the shape of it, making it harder for pee to pass through it smoothly.
Also there were a couple times where I'd "flex" my bladder because I was in a hurry to finish peeing. This made the piss exit my body really forcefully and thus strained it harder. Strain from this flexing has happened many many times to me. But it was at its worst when I injured my dick. Bad luck.
