Objectivism

Tell me why I shouldn't believe in objectivism and everything she says.

You are free to believe in whatever you want. Just as we are free to believe that you're a dumbass.

>believing text

Because you're probably more intelligent than that. I've been proven wrong before though.

She created a new philosophy journal to submit her work to because her work is too transparently preposterous to be published by a real academic journal.

she herself relied on social security and medicare near the end of her life after she got lung cancer.

without socialist programs like these, she would have died like 10 years sooner.

>being a human being
>objectivism

pick one, faggot.

She is not wrong to say that selfishness is not inherently evil, it's just she had a poor concept of the self. In order to truly love yourself you have to love all of humanity, because if you hate the humanity of someone else, you hate your own humanity. Therefore, a proper love of self includes an "altruistic" love of others. If you love yourself because of your riches, or intelligence, or power, you are implicitly saying that you would hate yourself if you were poor, stupid, or weak, which is to say that you implicitly hate yourself, because everyone is relatively poor, stupid, and weak. You can't base the love on yourself on mere accidental attributes.

>this logic
>in order to love yourself you have to love all of humanity
no. i would say you have turned that shit on its head. isn't there this nigger saying that goes something like this: "You cant love anyone if you dont love yourself."
If you dislike yourself i would argue that an objectivistic ideology, by putting your own self-interest in center, will further your own individualistic development.

Because she never considers the implications of her """"philosophy."""" In the most appalling assumptions she never even bothered to consult fields like neuroscience and sociology to try to conceive a grounded and varied precept of reality. She asserts things are there, and therefore she applies a subjective ethics to fulfill "requirements" of said reality. Not to even mention the implications of how the philosophy would be carried out on a large scale. She's just a joke, honestly.

I dont get it. are you telling me that in this western society we dont base our actions on our own self-interest? are you telling me that neuroscientists do what they do out of altruism?

Action is more complicated than simple self-interest. It removes the fact that humans have an extraordinary ability to contextualize and to feel other's emotions. Humans act on interest, but is this interest really only invested in the self? Does it just end there?

We also have to consider which actions are attributable only the Self. The word "interest" is also too vague to work off of when examining the mentioned spectrum. "Interest" can be anything one invests themselves in. But Ayn assumes this is pure satisfaction and works off of that assumption, and her ethical arguments are in tandem with "self interest = whatever pleases me"

>extraordinary ability to contextualize and to feel other's emotions.
personally i think your over exaggerating.
My friends, for example, are all objects(,for lack of a better word) designated by me, to entertain and amuse me - and that's friendship(ofc it works the other way around as well).

she makes me want 2 die, do u want me 2 die? plz don't listen to ayn ran, I'm female and attractive and single and browsing Veeky Forums

there's literally no proof that anything is objective

am I a meme, why did u put quotes around philosophy are u a comedian

prove it

Will to Power > Objectivism

i feel like everyone on this post is very dumb probably, you all deserve to feel bad for being inadequate human beings, I like philosophies that make me think of everything as a means to an end; the end usually being expanding the human race to the galaxy- like a virus!!!

Can't, not even that is objective.

because she's objectively wrong.

>convince me not to be retarded
No.

Because you shouldn't just believe everything someone says without questioning it?

I can only wish that one day Ayn Rand will knock on my door and sit on my face without bothering to remove her tight leather skirt.
I hope she can have enough sense of humour to casually engage in conversation, as a dentist would, as she spreads her marvellous Bottom over my face. After a while though the hilarity is too much and she falls back with nary a thud onto the ground, supporting herself with both outstretched arms. Smiling, we laugh at each other but her smile grows fix and her dangling foot beat rythmically as she appears to stare at my ear. She-Wolf-like, in one full motion that explores all the possibilities of the various types joints of her body, she crawls onto my chest and presses the meeting point of her legs to my face, and I begin to blush because I can see she isn't wearing anything beneath her skirt, and I realize she has come to seduce me.

Not an argument

>without socialist programs like these, she would have died like 10 years sooner.
this is objectively a good thing, unless you think that being On Paper more free is more important than life itself
