You can check what disgusting bullshit people like by surveying it, checking the comments of hopeless losers (your potential customers) and simply searching around for gaps.

You have to get into the SEO/Amazon vendor world, there are tons of tools to check trends in purchasing, and amazon provides tons of metrics for the seller, as well as top selling lists
