Undergraduate math is generally easier, about learning to prove stuff, but you still need to produce a little bit by yourself. It is not something you can memorize.

Programming isn't like playing a guitar or gymnastics where you can tell how good someone is by watching them do it from across the room. I don't remember how well she did, but this was the final round of the Canadian computing competition so she was one of the 20 best highscool programmers to get there.
