Ok It has just occurred to me that the whole Cicada 3301 thing might be a hoax, in fact it would be an extremely easy thing to trick people with if you just write out the whole script in advance and have internet friends play the actors on anonymous image boards.

In today's day and age it's far from ridiculous to consider that a group of friends or associates or whatever, most likely all working within the fields that would explain the complex challenges. Whether it could be for a project/laugh for this possible group or some sort of motivational hoax by some other party, it can be quite easy for anyone anywhere to create in-depth pranks over the internet.
