We lament our literary shortcomings

>will never devise original philosophy
>pseud-level understanding of anyone past nietzsche
>still has to consult a dictionary
>can only write in bland pose suited for technical specs or didactic text

>cant even make successful thread on Veeky Forums

>will only be recognized for genius that I am after death

>alcohol will kill me before i can publish anything

>crippling depression will ensure my magnum opus and subsequent suicide.

>still has to consult a dictionary
DELET THIS

I write furry porn for money, but that's more of a short cumming.

>reads philosophy books but doesn't understand them
>sometimes consults spark notes to make sure I understood the plot

>will only be recognized as an arrogant prick before and after his death.

>anything i write feels too engineered
jdimsa

>Not a *Communist
Academia will never accept me.

play on words
your literary skill is improving

Thank you

>>still has to consult a dictionary

Really riles me that people see this as a negative, no matter how massive your vocabulary you will need to look something up now and again.

>>can only write in bland pose suited for technical specs or didactic text
write historical semi-fiction

>past nietzsche
you mean beyond Nietzsche
No one here has actually read actual big boy philosophy like Kant besides a few Veeky Forumsizens. If everyone sat down right now and started to read Kant methodically, instead of just a vague perusal, the collective intelligence of this board would increase dramatically.

But nah, people want to have the perception of being well-read or well-written without actually doing the dirty work of sitzfleisch, that's why none of you will become great, because greatness takes staying power

I read some Kant, concerning the two formulations of the two formulations of the categorical imperative. It was dry reading, and I have been told his other stuff isn't much more fun.

Hey man, I don't need this shit, fuck you. Can a nigga just ask what I need to read before reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra?

And is anyone here well-versed with Gurdijeff? Specifically, the All & Everything series. Are they worth the read?

>If everyone sat down right now and started to read Kant methodically, instead of just a vague perusal, the collective intelligence of this board would increase dramatically.
Explain big boy

How much are we talking?

>have decent potential as a writer but don't want to pursue it because i would be almost impossible for me to get significant recognition
>will try to make it as a filmmaker and probably fail, then move on to feeding retarded gamers pseudo-artistic bs because money and fame matter more to me than anything

>then move on to feeding retarded gamers
how are you planning on doing this?

I've programmed games before and done all the assets for them. Nothing on a commercial scale but relatively close

It's really not that difficult

i would love to write for games and possibly film, but i have no idea where one would even start forming connections etc.

>then move on to feeding retarded gamers pseudo-artistic bs
better get a move on, that market's getting popular

no ability as a writer
no purpose

>forget all the great ideas i come up with in the shower
>tfw they were really good

buy a waterproof marker and write on the shower glass? record yourself?

I love the idea of reading, but plenty of times I don't feel like reading and never get around to it

>read most of the western canon over these past twenty years and retained little.
>can't escape my vague incomplete notions concerning everything.
>forever Bloom aspiring to Dedalus.

Focus.

it was awful, let me tell you

Most people on here read for enjoyment, misguided "self-improvement", or because they want to write fiction. There are a few pseudo-scholars but definitely not enough to warrant how often "Veeky Forums just reads to feel and look smart" is invoked

Pretty sure there are some community service programs where you do that
