What are some authors that "write anime" and do it well? is there even such a thing as doing it well?

murakami

there aren't any

If you have any ideas what visual novel is, Takashi Masada is one of the best epic fantasy writers.

Anime is for plebs

Isuna Hasekura and Minoru Kawakami are two of my favorites.

gross

Mishima's The Sound of Waves comes to mind.

Anime is for degenerate basement dwelling neckbearded hopeless frogfaggots who have lost the ability to function in society, probably because they are either lacking or have suffered from additional chromosomes.

Lolita is basically the plot of an anime written very poetically and beautifully

Good double, didn't read your post though because it was too long

Cause I'm sure you had any idea who they were before googling them.

i'm more aware of their shit than i wish i were

The plot is actually nothing like any anime ever made.

Why hate all anime? Have you ever watched anything not shonen?

You might look into Light Novels, or just stick to manga.
Protip, avoid anything with a title as long as your arm, after the fashion of Oreimo.

...

...

yes, i have. it's trash.

I don't believe you.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is a pretty good LN about a guy who gets sent to a fantasy world.

Snow Crash was pretty good. Tedious at parts, but exactly what you're looking for

I don't even watch anime, but if you think the Tatami Galaxy isn't a masterpiece, then you are beyond help

Stick to manga, my dude. A lot of these internet patricians will tell you prose is the only medium worth dedicating time to, but good storytelling is not a quality exclusive to novels. There are mangaka with extensive literary backgrounds, and it's evident in their works. However, most if not all examples of this are lost in the adaptation to animation, as shit needs to sell. Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul, despite all the memery surrounding it, is the best example of this. The manga is very well-written and full of thematic depth and symbolism, while the anime it received relies on stilted dialogue and edge-porn to make people feel like they're watching something mature and emotionally charged.

Tg is a masterpiece, Ishida is a god of atmosphere
