Everyone's gun git fucked

Well, we're moving to imminent doom, not even medfags are safe from this shitstorm.
Inb4, muhhh 8 years of
medical education.

tfw working with artificial intelligence and distributed systems

Better than humans at doing the same jobs cheaper

But then we can pursue things like art, literature, music, animation, mathematics and physics while robots do all the dirty work like construction and flipping burgers.

They can do that too if you look near the end of the video, the only thing that would not be affected to a large extent are software engineers the people making this shit in the first place

But we're pretty much just AIs in meat machines.

But we are inferior AIs that need to sleep and eat and drink water and breathe. Machines just need oil.

Artificial means made by humans, which is actually kind of true since we are given birth to and nurtured by humans.

Funny to think about we are man-made meat machines.

What makes you think you'll get any of the benefits if you don't own the robots? The robot owners will be millionaires while you're poor and unemployed.

And we still have to pay property taxes.

>literally designing our own obsolescence
>i'm fucking terrified
>hold me someone

I'm predicting a inter-continental Conservative-Progressive civil war over this compounded with movements towards global governance (inb4 conspiritard, take a basic International Relations course). Conservatives will generally represent "the common man", Progressives the elite (what corporate wouldn't want machines?). It will be a class war, but the history e-books wont recognise it as such. Obviously, we lose.

Good luck automating construction.

Fucking idiot.

though difficult it's at least conceivable. With a human overseer to watch and interfere if necessary. But very far off...

Agreed. There are so many hurdles that I don't see this happening for at LEAST 100 years.

Although doom is imminent, it won't come from unemployment.

Also, I can't hear the word "inevitable" any more

Not only can machines get improved designs to perform the tasks needed for construction better than they can now. The very designs of things being constructed and techniques used for construction can be designed to be easier for machines.

What a uselessly, stupidly abstract statement. I guess whatever your job is, the robots won't take it until they can design an AI that spouts banal garbage.

That was to difficult for you to understand wasn't it? Fag

And "good luck automatic construction" is what...useful?

Construction has already been automated in thousands of different ways over many years, some small, some significant, in the way that factories and agriculture have and will continue to.

You must be under some misapprehension that jobs are only at risk if an entire industry can be fully automated. It is sufficient for marginal automation to displace many of the industry's workforce.

"Good luck automating construction" implies that it's a totally wasted effort --- you're clearly ignorant of the fact that automating construction is a large constituent of the research agenda in computer-aided engineering, and so ... it is PRECISELY what is being worked towards. Utterly useless pleb.

I understood it, it's just too broad of a statement to have any real meaning when it comes to answering the question "how difficult will it be for machines to take over the jobs of construction workers?"

I think this is bound to lead us to technocratic socialism. If we live in a society with 50 percent unemployment because of automation, democratic governments will inevitably seize the means of production to distribute goods to everyone. Us, the STEMfags, will be the elite of that world, just as government officials were the elite in the soviet union. This is a terrifying prospect and i feel guilty that i won't speak against it.

The meaning is clear. He was pointing out that the machines don't have to be as dexterous as humans, because the construction process can be adapted to the machines. As a general rule that's true, getting into the details we could have an endless debate over designs and methods for automating.

I agree with you that construction work poses a huge challenge for automation, and might never be completely possible, but when I (naively) think about it, I don't see any principal obstacles. More difficult for automation than construction are crafts like plumbing, can't imagine this being done by a robot. The difference is that the whole process of construction (at least in principle) can be carried out according to a completely determined plan on a flat piece of land.

medfags will be fine.

is this really good for us?

>guys we're all fucked, I know because I saw it in a youtube video
Yep this seems totally reliable to me.

It being a youtube video doesnt lower its merit.

Ideally this is the end-goal of humanity to have technology take over all jobs so that we can just fuck off and do what we want right?

Maybe. What would you do? I fear humanity will sink into complete degeneracy or passivity (even more than today).

It indeed could be the end state of human development where no further evolution of society is needed and humans basically do what they want in an environment that is structured in a way to fulfill autonomously human needs and provide them with all sort of stuff they want.

Good job, you've passed the litmus test for basic intelligence.

the wealth will "trickle" down?

Bad news guys. It's already happened. This is how the 99% came to be.

Think about it this way. Hundred years ago human labor was expensive for companies because human labor was a large percent of the product being made. CEO's and managers didn't take the majority of the money because they did less percentage of the labor. But if 99% of the labor is done by the manager and CEO then it's fair that they take 99% of the profits. Now human laborers are paid just enough so it's not cheaper to replace them with robots. As robots become cheaper and more efficient, human wages will decrease. Soon only job available will be below minimum wage which means illegal immigrant workers will become the new middle class.

AI is actually going to doctors before it replaces gay hipster artisan shops.

Seizing the means of production leads to famine and autocracy. Better to leave the means of production in the hands of capitalists, but raise taxes on them to support a generous safety net, which will eventually be expanded to guaranteed basic income. You want Scandinavia, not Venezuela.

>replace all human workers with robots
>only CEOs who own robots have wealth
>robots have no right and can't earn wealth
>corporation is legal entity with more rights than a human
>1st corporation entirely run by robots
>CEO robot run company more efficiently than human CEO companies
>all other companies go out of business
>entirety of worlds wealth owned corporations run by handful of elite robots
>humans declare war on robots
>humans are inefficient in war and are soon made extinct

it literally will, though

although "wealth" is kind of arbitrary, it's a matter of production

production trickles down a lot already, although not a fraction of how much it will be socialized in the future when less/no labor is required

>The robot owners will be millionaires while you're poor and unemployed.

highly unlikely

muh evil corporations would just be undercut by other producers (or a government in the case of a cartel) until prices reach more or less 0 since production costs have evidently plummeted, right?

unless the technologies were protected by some extremely rigid patents, which is unlikely because in a democracy the patent laws would eventually just be changed

also it's highly unlikely that it is in the "robot owners" interest to weaken human society so all of that is irrelevant to begin with

conspiracy theories aside, what will probably happen is that production costs of trivial necessities such as food, water and energy will be reduced to the point of nothing and most money will be spent between humans mostly on non-automated products and services

You have to be dumb as shit if you believe that guys meme Science.

I don't think AI will ever produce what we do on art. They can't think that critically and creatively. They are something programmed.

Meatbag.

Take your pedophile cartoons back to .

Fucking degenerates.

STOP STEELING MY MEME YOU RETARDED PEDOPHILE
YOU FUCKER

Yume Nikki and Vocaloid have anime adaptations?
