Did Hypersphere ruin collaborative writing for Veeky Forums?

It got a lot more outside attention than the original Tundra but for seemingly all the wrong reasons

Veeky Forums ruined collaborative writing for Veeky Forums

It was the most coherent is all. Don't get rosy eyed though, they're all just big collaborative shitposts and the notion of actually reading them is absurd to begin with.

I suppose Hypersphere ruined it only in the sense that it gave Veeky Forums's collaborations a sense of legitimacy they never needed.

>Veeky Forums users from the most annoying board on the website crowdwrite a massive novel
how could it even possibly have gone well

>the notion of actually reading them is absurd to begin with.

Read the first three pages of Tundra and tell me you didn't chuckle once

>more outside attention than the original
tundra has 4x the number of ratings on goodreads

I don't think so. Veeky Forums can write up collaborative literature all it wants. What Veeky Forums is haunted by now is a sort of feverish need to surmount Hypersphere (which shouldn't be a problem, but due to its users atrophy and their anxiety of not achieving that height: they'd rather rest knowing TLOTIAT and Hypermeme wrre just a one-time-gag), all you need is another Googledoc project in the nick of time and you get another Lulu bestseller

ᴸᴼᵂ ᶫᶦᶠᵉ scum who gets of to bumming boy pussy.

y'all better not do another until like at least 2017 in the middle of spring break or something

I truly believe Quagga would have been up to par. It was cohesive and was shaping up to be a thematically consistent work with several ongoing plots.

Holy shit there are still wastoids trying to hold on to this

Isn't Quagga a lost work by now? Does any scrupulous user have a saved copy of the draft by any chance?

I liked it but if another one was done anytime soon it'd be real stale. It's basically one long thread of people spouting memes and making fun of postmodernism which turned out to work.

Collaborative writing was always a retarded idea and doing it here was even dumber.

It's only retarded if you expect anything other than the meme circlejerk that was the product.

I don't get you people. All we wanted was to have some fun, did you expect a magnum opus? I'm sorry.

Though in reality there are some seriously good writing in Hypersphere: The Divisible Thirds, Luger Foucault, Timmy Tingler had me guffawing and other little projects that just worked. The same with Tundra.

The proliferation of Hypersphere led directly to the reddit invasion.

So, though it was fun, I cannot in good faith participate in another Veeky Forums collab.

Hypersphere meme magic put Trump in the White House.

Why don't we do this again, again?

One more time! one more time! one more time!

I wrote a few stories for it. I suppose it's vain, but the one where a line from a parodical Wittgenstein Summa Tractatus becomes self-aware and is executed by the rest of the essay was actually very fun to write. The whole project was very enjoyable, and people used a lot of different mediums than the TLOIAT which gave it a richer layout. The plot kind of drifted but actually ends on a reasonable climax.

Bottleman was a good guy too.

Oh I completely fucked up that book title.

Would you have done anything differently were it in your hands and not Bottleman's?

Not really no. He let the forums and threads decide where things should go, collaborated on the plot, wrote really good pieces and encouraged the democracy of the voting process and stuck with me when we were about the only two people writing (I think) at the start of part 4 or 5.

holy shit those second two titles are hilarious. were those made?

Hypersphere will only get it's true recognition once major world events 4 months from now coincide with its evocations and a number of its authors found as people of interest in the intelligence community

PRAISE KEK

i think it's great that you guys want to get together and make your shitty books, but i feel sorry for all the poor saps who have actually bought copies of them.

...

I'd like to see an actual Meme Trilogy or Meme Collection that isn't based off the classics. So far the only viable options I can see are

Hypersphere
The Legend of the 10 Elemental Masters
My Twisted World

what else would you add?

I spent three hours making the cover for that book, and you dind't even apreciate it

If I translate it in spanish will someone read it?

When reddit inevitable infests Veeky Forums as they have with most of Veeky Forums, no doubt the horde of Central American and South America spanish speakers will discover and proceed to ruin these works with their exposure. So you may as well translate it early to make money off it later.

Yep, they're on lulubooks or a nice user might upload the pdfs

>Hypersphere in place of Tundra

Helloooooo Reddit

sorry, I forgot to mention those, I'm getting the PDFs as we speak.

here ya go

>mfw someone actually saved my mega link

To think it's been 8 months since I uploaded that shit

My Twisted World is also reddit. The Unabomber manifesto is decent writing, Elliot Rodger shit is mostly used as an insult.

came up in the archives

I have the full draft up to the last thing ever written on it, it's around 100 pages long. If there is interest, I'll provide a link.

Please do, even if nothing comes of it I'd like to archive it myself as well

whats so special about it anyways

The most interesting movement to come out of Veeky Forums (somewhat) recently was a blatant attempt at organized market manipulation. The target market was pornography.

They had the right idea in moving offsite. Unfortunately, the group either fell apart, or remained active by moving again to further their obscurity.

Anyway, nothing happens on Veeky Forums anymore. The action, and artistic attachment, lies elsewhere.

>The most interesting movement to come out of Veeky Forums (somewhat) recently was a blatant attempt at organized market manipulation. The target market was pornography.

???

Blink, and you may miss it. It was not organized, so much as briefly advertised here. More you do not need to know.

The point is, you need to seek elsewhere for the action. A passing call for contributions is not the same as getting in on the action.

People trying to get in on the CHuck Tingle game is just being a bit up his own ass about it

Wrong.

Oh wait, you meant the Leprechaun thing. That thing is as old as dirt.

>mfw can't download it

I have my own folder:

mega.nz/#F!7c8kiAYQ!2DSY2JKuecFEeli6GIbU5w

The problem is not the folder, it's MEGA itself. For some reason I have not been able to download anything from it since I changed my ISP two months ago.

what about dropbox?

dropbox.com/s/32ygs8nz3rxe11y/Meme Literature.7z?dl=0

if it asks to create an account just hit 'no thanks continue to download'

Thank you very much, user.

It's the first completely anonymously written, collaborative novel

Not sure what you're on about famalam, just click download-as-zip and away it goes

Dude tundra lmao
No

I can never find a download link to any of them so I can't say that I've tried.

Look in this thread, there are links to all of them

Just wish I had real versions. I know they're on lulu. I just hate reading on my computer.

Your wish isn't worth 15 bucks so it can't be that bad

The tome that is Hypersphere will be hard to compare anything to. There's so much in there.

Anything else collaborative would have to be more organized or less so.

Tundra 1 is 440 pages, combined they're easily 1000+

Yes? Hypersphere is almost 800 in a single almost coherent book that was truly collaborative.

Tundra 1 is actually pretty funny and fun to flip through sometimes.

Everything after is a poor imitation.

Eh, I won't be able to pay next months rent as it is right now and will struggle to have food.

What is 'truly collaborative'

when should we do another one.

if we do it cant be the same gimmick as the others.
we should probably carve out a plot or theme first and then write around it, running of into tangents and sub-sub-sub chapters but always flittering around a central theme or plot.

we should try and keep current memes, which will date the book significantly, out so that we form a true masterpiece which can be immortalised in the para-canon.

we should keep it entirely a secret on Veeky Forums (i know Veeky Forums isnt a "secret club" but compared to reddit its just two guys in a public toilet frotting) until completed

we should try to make it actually decent. we need a way to discard the husk of shit from the kernel of literary worth without censoring true creative expression - perhaps a form of democratic censorship?

it needs to be short. 300 pages max.

we shouldnt start until after summer is over.

anyone agree?

>we shouldnt start until after summer is over.
we can always brainstorm now. get people to write some samples. but it shouldnt be formed until summer is over.

Does anyone have the high res cover of Tokyo drift they can post here? Can't find it anywhere

Here you go mate, from my publishing folder

Thank you friends
