I read books.

Bookworm is great.
Whenever I start to listen to a podcast I always laugh at Michael Silverblatt's voice.

why haven't you finished the first draft of your book yet, user

I really really really hope she doesn't get published.

I'd like to empty a sack on her face.

A sack of semen.

why does every ya booktuber girl write a book now

Because le Jonathan Greenman gives them inspiration to further pillage literature.

They don't know any better

Rolling Thunder Revue is the greatest live album of all time.

Educating Rita, wow what a literary masterpiece that is. Same with The Outsiders; brilliant. My favorite of them all thought, is the Beginning of Everything by Jonathan Leviathan; RIVETING.

it's always the ones who know the least about real literature too
like that poor girl a bookutopia who has written some ya sci fi trash and is like 18 or 19

Another notable mention in the English literature canon, would have to be the Demon Cycle series. The first one, 'The Painted Man', is about as good as long novels get. Unbelievably gripping, and immerses the reader immensly with its comfy storyline. I would recommend all of you Veeky Forumsizens, give it a go. There is one book left in the series, comes out perhaps some time in the next 2 years. Call me crazy, but I think it is the greatest book series of all time, and 'The Painted Man', is the single greatest piece of literature ever conceived by mortal men (Tim Winton is immortal, doesn't count)

w-what are you doing

I sent the youtube bitch a long ranting message.

Enlightening you fine gentlemen

oh god, polandbananas? i wonder if she'll reply

yeah, one can only hope

It's disgraceful that you feel the need to lash out like this.

The bridge at midnight trembles, the country doctor rambles, the banker's niece seeks perfection, expecting all the gifts that wise men bring.
What did he mean by this?

she has 300k susbcribers there's literally no way she doesn't get an agent easily and probably a big 4 publisher

You ruined fathers day.
Obscure reference, I wonder who will get it?

1400 years of Shari'ah permitted paedophilia, inbreeding and education/culture based in mindless tradition, rather than productivity or progress, has damaged Islamic intellectual capacity and hormonal balance to the point where they've become a violent moronic savages.
Predominantly Muslim countries such as Iran have an average IQ of around 84, which is about one standard deviation and 14 points below the USA who score at 98.
Cousin marriage, which is considered prestigious and pious in Islam, causes genetic damage that impairs mental function and concentrates genes that lead to schizophrenia.
You know schizophrenia, the illness that often causes people to become violent and isolated and suffer from religious delusions?
The kind where they might believe a racist, slave owning, war mongering paedophile was the last great messenger of some super magic sky man?
Aisha was 9 when 59 year old Mohammed had sex with her.
That's sick and he was a sick disgusting man.
People of other faiths want to grow and change and contribute to the world, Muslims only want to preserve their ways and do not care at all about improving technology, culture or quality of life.
Even most moderate Muslims advocate a shari'ah world caliphate.
The psychological damage of paedophilia and genetic damage of inbreeding mean their children can't live happy normal lives and don't have the necessary brain power to develop a realistic and reasonable worldview.
That's why Muslims need to believe in 'Almighty Allah' who has power over everything, because will power and self responsibility is too much effort and hard work for them.
They become Imams, welfare queens, gang members and religious figures because real work and innovation is too hard and they need to live off handouts and crime.
They are literally just the dumbest and most emotionally weak people on the planet and that's why they can't handle science, objective reality or attempting to seduce and not rape adult women.
They're all too scary.

It's not hard to see without looking too far that not much is really sacred.

On another note, does anybody want to give me some feedback on a 6k short story I wrote? My deadline for submitting it is coming up.

So don't fear
if you hear

Case in point. Rita needs educating.

A foreign sound, to your ear.

In The Tempest, Miranda rids herself of her naivety of the world and is enriched through her encounters with the arrivals on the island, most notably her discovery of Ferdinand. To understand Miranda’s enrichment, we must understand her naivety. In our introduction to Miranda, the reader understands her lack of world experiences when Prospero says, “Of thee, my dear one, thee, my daughter, who Art ignorant of what thou art” in a sympathetic tone. The first character to confront this ignorance, is Ferdinand. When taking into account that Miranda has only ever known her elderly father and a mythical creature that tried to rape her, it is apparent that through encountering the youthful and charming Ferdinand her perspective shifts, causing her to reconsider what is kown; “I might call him a thing divine, for nothing I ever saw so noble.” By giving him divine connotations, it is apparent that Ferdinand enriches Miranda’s view of humanity. In the concluding act Miranda – after witnessing the reconciliation of all of the play’s characters – discovers how beautiful mankind is; “How many goodly creatures are there here! / How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world.” Her exclamatory tone emphasizes her awe at the beauty of mankind. It is evident that Miranda has revaluated her outlook through the foreign experience of meeting new people.

Similarly, in Fahrenheit 451 the protagonist, Guy Montag also adopts new values and new perspectives of his world. Guy Montag undergoes an existential crisis evoked by new and confronting experiences leading him to adopt new values. In the dystopic society of Fahrenheit 451, books are banned and civilians are discouraged from meaningful contemplation. Therefore, when Guy Montag has the substance of his existence questioned by a social divergent called Clarisse, he is provoked into a confronting introspection of his existence. Clarisse asks Montag, “are you happy?” the sober tone of her question, emphasizes its weight. The question permeates his mind after arriving home - “how immense a figure she was on the stage before him; what a shadow she threw on the wall with her slender body!” - and becomes the spark of a gradual transformation within Guy Montag. The next significant impetus for Guy’s inner-transformation is the experience of watching a woman choose to be burnt alive rather then live without her books. After Montag pleas for the woman to leave the books and take his arm, she says “I want to stay here.” These frighteningly sober words further confront Montag and lead him to try and discover how he got so apathetic; “Well, wasn't there a wall between him and Mildred, when you came down to it? Literally not just one, wall but, so far, three!” The metaphor of the parlor walls (T.V screens) being an impediment to achieving true meaning in his life, indicates that he has realized that his hedonistic existence is meaningless. This epiphany leads Montag to value a substantial life. Guy Montag who initially despised intellectualism and lived hedonistically, has come to value the wisdom of books and the substance that they bring to life.

I wonder if this thread will be studied a thousand years from now, and some historian will deem it "the most arbitrary thread from the Veeky Forums archives", and a kid in school will have to remember that quote for his essay, and he'll forget it and only realise after the exam concludes.

HAHAHAH true true mein freudian freund.

it didn't have to be like this
what happened

Throughout Clooney’s film, we see the anxiety of journalists as a result of political corruption. The fear of McCarthy was so great that even these journalists, who are pursuing truth, fear the repercussions of McCarthy’s power. The journalists have to be diligent in ensuring they have no ties to communism; no matter how insubstantial. Such was the climate of fear in the Cold War era. Evidence of this is seen in the film when Murrow’s boss, William Paley, instructs Murrow to make sure none of his colleagues have any communist ties; “Every one of your boys needs to be clear, you understand? No ties.” The close-up of Paley’s intense face, highlights his anxiety. The anxiety of this scene is emphasized through the claustrophobic mise-en-scene and panning shots of the shadowed faces in the room. In a later scene, - after Shirley and Joe have just left a meeting, in which Murrow ensured they had no communist ties - Shirley says in conversation with Joe, I looked over my shoulder to see who was listening… it was Chairman Mao.” The use of hyperbole here, emphasizes how pervading the anxiety is; she constantly feels as if someone is watching her. It is apparent that Clooney reflects the Cold War anxiety through his depiction of the anxiety felt by journalists during the era.

>you will never be Prospero
>you will never use your art to disguise yourself as Ferdinand and fuck your daughter

A really upbeat song started playing, it all started with. Once this live album is over, I will sleep for 20 mins and then come back and write an essay in preparation for my exam.

>You will never be Caliban and rape Miranda in her sleep.

My verbal shit storm does not end here.
>As a response to the shift in global consciousness that occurred in the wake of the second

worldwide war, composers of the after the bomb era grappled with evocative ideas.

Conservative morals of political compliance, gender roles and obedience to an omniscient

God that characterised common ways of thinking before the atomic bomb are challenged by

the texts of the post bomb era. Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot and Stanley

Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove reflect incredulity towards conservative ways of thinking and the

perceived truths. Similarly, Sylvia Plath’s poetic anthology Ariel and the 1959 Kitchen Debate

between Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev represent opposing discourses of social

importance. By drawing on common perceptions and social dichotomies, composers seek to

challenge ways of thinking.

Veeky Forums is my favorite board okay so here it is I think that Veeky Forums is the greatest thing ever well thats not true i dont im just relaying but anyhow on another ntoe i had a great dream the other night and it featured the friend from primary school his name being harrison i wasnt going to diclose his name but then i thought twicce because it was alright and yeah people ask me all the time if i miss my schoolyard days, and i have to say that i do, i really enjoyed those days because i had an amazing group of friends and i was popular, back when popular meant you had more than five friends. I used to go on systematic sleepovers omg i remember delibarating with harrison outside on the logistics of the sleepover to be had. Fuck me, remeniscing is useless and brings upon unnecessary grief, but it is addictive.

>you will never escape the island with miranda and go to live in venice with miranda and get married.
>You will never prevent Caliban from raping Miranda and have her thank you.
>Mfw Ferdinand might have just been an ugly cunt but Miranda thought he was beautiful because the only other person she has seen in her lifetime is her rapey father.
>Tfw you will never find a girl who will think this of me out of ignorance.

tffw

I wonder if anybody on this board has watched this tv show, probably not. I also wonder if anyone is really smart, i mean isn't everything relative. But yeah, you know what i want? I just want to align with nature and be buried in some remote forest under a willow tree.

Omg this is fucking gorgeous, holy shit her nose is so cute and her crocodile eyes and cavewoman hair which is redolent of primitive sex. TFW NO MIRANDA GF

bet she smells nice and earthy

Outside, the ensemble of sparrows sung a tranquil tune. The sagacious oak trees swayed rhythmically in the autumn wind. A small river flowed through the courtyard and beyond the walls where it divided and became four rivers – an organic treasure in the urbanized city of London. It was a charming portrait for the man in blue who sat on the courtyard bench, his mind as clear as the river that flowed alongside him in the garden of the world.

I'd love to sit in a tree with her and watch a sunset. She'd have her head on your shoulder and wouldn't be able to speak english because she is primitive, and then I would spend the next four years with her on a remote island teaching her english and about the world outside. I would cultivate her very personality to suit my needs.

You'd have to make sure she started with the Greeks

HAHAHAH don't worry comrade, there is no other place to start, unless you count the primates of course.

“I have a story for you. A long time ago in a foreign land, where man was only beginning to fathom the world around them; two men were overcome with a spontaneous curiosity about the universe and mortality and everything in-between. They lay down on a grassy knoll, gazing up into eternity. But, the sky in its endless weave, offered no answers. Why? Because the sky is the answer. It is God’s idle canvas; simple yet inextricably beautiful. The first man understood this, he was able to appreciate it for its intrinsic beauty. To be content with its endless weave of glory. The other man however, was burdened with the naïve desire to delve deeper into the enigma. He made the grave mistake of searching beyond the stars, where only the insufferable universe lies. It is when man begins to rule, measure and equate this universe that he begins to feel foreign and descends down the dark vacuum of desolation. Don’t you see? Mankind’s most fatal error was establishing rules. There are no rules in the animal kingdom!

just post it there's no point asking

yeah but then if i post it someone might steal it and publish under the alias of "david foster wallace"
I am not meant to say this, but let's just say this may or may not have happened before...

At the conclusion of WW2 – following the defeat of Nazism at the hands of soviet

Russia – Russia began to expand the Soviet brand of socialism throughout Europe.

Russia plumaged through central Europe and managed to remain there, the Russian

army’s might, made it possible for Russia to install and to maintain ideological pro-

Soviet regimes. The European countries were forced into a major traumatic political

and economic transformation. Eastern Europe found themselves thrown into a

world where absurdity was an integral part of everyday life.

These global events equate to absurdity in the way that Soviet Russia claimed that

they’re simplified form of Marxism would answer the questions to the fundamental

existential questions and in addition, end world suffering. When it was apparent that

Soviet-socialism did not indeed do this, its forceful methods of implementation

inflicted significant suffering. Soviet regime relentlessly enforced the idea despite its

obvious absurdity, it dominated all spheres of life. People were essentially being

made to act against their own nature, and this subjected - what was initially the

concern of a select few philosophical individuals in the west – the absurdity of life to

millions of people in the East. It became a integral part of daily life. The East believed

they had all the answers whereas the West perpetuated the search for the questions

as meant to be.

Wow, nice insights into the political climate of the Cold War and the philosophical paradigms at work. Keep it up.

Yeah nah, this guy makes me cringe with his clothing and facial hair. His pauses are too long and pretentious.

He is kind of a try hard but I think he knows it.

Yeah and he does have somewhat interesting insights, I think if he had a podcast I'd like it more.

Fair points, I think you should be a politician you have a way of balancing your prose as to not seem extremist on either side of the spectrum.

Yeah whoever wrote these exerts has real potential

WHAT?!

Yeah they are well-written, undoubtedly.

Sam Harris's "Waking Up" podcast is pretty great.

You're missing out if you don't listen to it, especially if it's because of some "Muh Orthodoxy" meme faith you developed while browsing /pol/, or worse because you are a misguided "agnostic not an atheist" - especially since most of his shows are pure philosophy (the last two podcasts were an argument on the nature of free will with another philosopher and a discussion on the nature of learning and competence respectively.)

You should realize it doesn't affect you if someone else dare enjoy shitty books. Maybe they want different things out of books than you do. Why do you feel the need to let them know how inferior they are to you?

dood, nothing against your words but you sound like a pseud. and that punctuation kidd, it's gross.

are you joking?
