Is it true that the Ancient Egyptians

had a understanding of General Relativity before Einstein?

No

they didn't even understand the concept of gravity at that time

Unknown and can't be verified or disproved. It is assumed they did not.

It's possible the rough philosophical idea came to exist well before Einstein. We'll never know quite what the Babylonians and Mayans knew and were capable of. For all we know this has all been done before, and we're either the half broken degenerate leftovers, or simply the latest iteration.

Democritus traveled Europe, India, the middle east, Egypt, etc gathering what was already ancient knowledge before formalizing Atomism.

What fucking "rough philosophical idea" is obtained from general relativity? You need a pretty specific idea of "gravity" if you want to state anything about general relativity.

Special relativity, maybe, but every other backwards-ass philosopher from every culture has tried saying all types of things are actually just one type of thing at some point or another.

Wolfram thinks that you can reduce the world to just a bunch of n-dimensional cellular automata, but that doesn't mean he's reinvented special relativity.

Hey bud, fuck you, alright?
Alright bud?
Fuck you, bud.
Alright?

Fuck you.

they were no where near close to general relativity

You're never gonna come up with the idea of relativity without a Michelson interferometer.

>No extant proof of proof writing
>No example of Understanding basic kinematics, let alone dynamics
>No knowledge of electrodynamics
>No understanding or working ideas of Galilean invariance, definitely no Lorentz invariance
>No basic ideas of vectors, certainly no knowledge of tensors or indeed any geometry outside R^2 (possibly R^3).

But despite all that, you think it's possible they might have had an Understanding of GR?

Not true at all. If you can convince yourself that there should be no special frame of reference in the universe then special relativity follows naturally from there.

So how are you gonna know the speed of light is constant in all reference frames, brainlet?

Maxwell's equations.

Learn your dynasties user

wow you're dense. you realize Einstein never proved speed of light is constant, right? It was an axiom, he didn't need to "know" it, but it was strongly implied due to all the work that had been previously done in E&M. You don't need to "know" it to theorize it. Welcome to babby's first lesson on how physics is done.

oh ya, also, lorentz transformations can be derived using only the assumption that there is no special frame of reference. you don't need to assume an invariant cosmic speed limit. you get it from the transformations themselves. Einstein didn't do that, but it's technically the "better" way.

>It was an axiom

I meant that he still needed it to start with, he didn't just pull it out of his ass.

Even if you don't need the constancy of the speed of light you need some kind of locality assumption. Symmetry only gives you something when you know *what* is invariant under it.

Was light speed thought to be infinite before Maxwell?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_light

By some. People realized it could be finite but very large though.

is every black person in the US from egypt?

Couldn't the interval, a priori, also be x^2 + y^2 + z^2 + t^2 = d^2. This gets you a very weird universe indeed, but it should also reduce to the classical limit I think

I'm just curious, how did sub-Saharan Africa manage to change so little over such a long time?

Becuz whitey be oppressin us n shyeeet

All memes aside - people on Veeky Forums seem to refuse there being large differences between races due to genetics, but I honestly don't see how it's that unlikely.

Because there isn't a huge difference, we look different on the exterior but our genes aren't unique enough to be considered different races, obviously some people are smart and some are dumb and this may to a point be associated with the geographical location you originate, however it's also largely cultural

>however it's also largely cultural
That's what I think, too. Still, it's just so odd. You'd think they have to be able to invent something, even merely by accident, but they're so inconceibably primitive. I admire it in a way, too.

Refuting and refusing are 2 seperate things. I think the main thing is there are so many factors at play when it comes to intelligence, like socioeconomic background, intelligence of parents, etc. You can generally assume something like there are more smart white people than smart black people solely based on the fact that a white person is more likely to get a good education and less likely to suck dick for crack.

>however it's also largely cultural
This

Well blacks have invented video game cartridges and super soakers so..

You should read Guns Germs and Steel

Essentially, some of the arguments presented are:
- Eurasia has a greater "width" than "height", so there is less change in climate, thus a smaller number of seeds can be used for agriculture in Eurasia than the Americas or Africa (which have more "height" than "width"

- Animals that could be domesticated evolved alongside humans in Africa, whereas animals that evolved elsewhere weren't adapted to humans.
This results in differences such as horses being used as mounts, whereas zebras are too different (no herd mentality, ducking reflex for lassos, etc)
Similarly, Eurasia was the first continent we spread to (out of Africa), so our hunting wasn't good enough to exterminate animals like cows. But for continents like Australia, the cow-equivalent fossils suggest that marsupial mega fauna were hunted to extinction, since Australia was spread to later, after hunting had arisen.

I'd also argue from journal articles I've read that infectious and parasitic disease burden is one of the biggest factors for "sub-optimal" average IQ, and infectious and parasitic disease burden (at least today) is greatest in Africa.

Essentially, a lack of agricultural capabilities (both through lack of animals with agricultural capabilities, and the requirement of more plant species given climate gradients) as well as parasitic and infectious disease burden reducing intelligence (through distribution of energy to immunity instead of brain development) means a lack of large density populations where specialists can focus on crafts instead of hunting or gathering, and consequentially not produce as many technological advancements.

This is prior to colonisation efforts.
If you look at the Catalan Atlas (drawn around 1375), there is a depiction of Musa I of Mali and his "vast wealth". But compare that to ancient Greece, where slaves performed the agriculture, freeing up the early philosophers.

I wasn't sure on the beasts of burden when it came to Africa as South America was able to develop so well, why were they different to Africans when faced by many of the same issues?

Yes, and they were kangz.

WE WUZ KANGZ N EINSHTAINZ

I can only imagine that brain drain is a big problem as well. I haven't looked into some actual statistics on this, but if brain drain is a problem big enough to damage a country's economy, then surely it can play a part in dragging down a country's IQ statistics?

are you trying to say that the egyptians understood general relativity before einstein?

OOGA BOOGA

of course it is true black people back then knew all the phsics before racist white people stole the physics and took it away from them and hid in in the librarys

Why are they depicted as blacks in this picture? Ancient egyptians were northern african caucasians, much like today's egyptians.

If you are seriously talking about guns germs and steel as if it anything other than a pet theory by someone who refuses to acknowledge genes exist you are wildly ill informed

>being a vicious pol racist
>ITS 2016

> trying to generalize the skin color of a 3 millenia empire that was conquered over and over again.

But this has been proved false countless of times, one of the numerous experiences used adopted children, deleting the "socioeconomic background" is a piece of cake in this case.
The final result was that even black children raised by rich white parents stil had lower results than the white children adopted by the poorest black famillies, concluding that the most important factor in determining the intellectual capacities of an individual is race, wich is another word for genetics.

The ancient Egyptians we know about were remnants of the Atlantean global civilization that went under in the last of three cataclysms after existing for about 100 thousand years.
