Does it concern any of you that everything that has exists and will exist will one day just be gone. Not only the human race, but everything. The planet, the galaxy... EVERYTHING. All of our accomplishments and advancements will have been meaningless.

yes.

This is what keeps me awake at night.

yes

Not really, it's actually kind of comforting, because it is certain. In fact, it's one of the only certainties in my life right now. All of the problems that we'll ever face, all of the decisions we'll make, one day; will be gone.

I'm kinda just glad that I'm alive for the moment. Our accomplishments and advancements matter to us, and those that they effect. Yes, they will one day fade, but what doesn't?

Right now, I'm in class with 11 other people whose decisions will one day not matter, whose lives only matter the their loved ones and personal circle. We place the value in our lives, everything about the universe is either a convenience or disadvantageous, based on what we want for ourselves. The only value we have in the universe is the value we place in ourselves, the universe won't miss us when we're gone, and it won't cheer us on if we progress.

Everything "dies", the universe is no exception to this.

"gone" is subjective
the idea of 'you' and the idea of your accomplishments will be gone, but the matter that made your body and all the energy you ever used will remain

yeah man we end up as part of the stars XD i fucking love science

how do you experience "non-existence"?

as in, how do you lose yourself?

It's a virtual reality. There are save points.

God will still exist.

>It's a shame she won't live - but then again, who does?

At 2 am every night I get super depressed about everyone I know dying as well as myself. I have to watch tv to sleep otherwise I'll have a huge anxiety attack.

Shit sucks man, I love you guys.

I empathize with my fellow humans, knowing we all face certain eternal oblivion, so I think that makes me a better person compared to when I was religious. Still wish I believed in heaven, the sleep was much better, and driving wasn't so nerve wrecking.

Nothing is certain. Death can be disturbing. Not being able to die can be equally so. Uncertainty is usually disturbing but i think uncertainty about death is not such a bad thing.

This way of thinking is an excuse for beeing lazy.

We aint goin nowhere nigga.
That porn magazine of yours is gonna be in the universal archiver for trillions of years.

> knowing we all face certain eternal oblivion

How did you find out there was oblivion after death? That is a certainty of physicalism, which itself has flaws and criticisms

Everyone knows life is meaningless in the scope of things. It has meaning for your conscience self in this very moment only but that's enough for me personally.

Ask yourself this instead; If everything is meaningless, why are you concerned by it?

I find it incredibly arrogant that you think something that's going to happen many millions of years from now concerns you in the slightest.

"user look, the stars are out!"

Time is cyclic senpai. The universe repeats infinitely.
