Is reading the greatest hobby ever?

Is reading the greatest hobby ever?

maybe

i prefer hunting and mountain climbing. but reading is great.

Of the classical cannon of hobbies, it's easily top 5.

Yes, right there on top with

fishing
hiking
playing an instrument
cooking
doing recreational maths
painting
writing
training pets
chess
tennis
hockey
soccer
sculpture
collecting postcards
stealing frozen yogurt
eating doughnuts
making friends
killing clouds
shaking hands
leaving sounds
making lens
piping leaves of grass
mate the world is fading away
I love you call the cops

No it sucks

>doing recreational maths
How do people even do this?

having sex is

>Liking spending your time with books because it liberates dopamine, and also money from your pockets and years from your life

is the consumption of information really a hobby? i consider reading more like eating food for the mind

>making friends
Now you're just pulling things out your ass

girls are always the answer?

reading is the consumption of media, just like playing videogames and watching movies. i wouldn't put it on the same level as productive hobbies like woodworking, painting, composing or writing.

>not stamp collecting
wew lad

desu there's already a lot of shit in the world and "productive" hobbies just create more of it. I'd rather do a more noble thing and consume the shit, cleaning the world of it and making our lives better.

well i don't mean productive in that industrial sense. people make things because making them is engaging and fun. that's why all those great paintings, movies and albums exist, because creators like working on them.

desu the better games and movies get the more "intellectual" reading seems, when it really isn't. imagine 60 years ago when books and black & white movies were all you had for entertainment.

You make what you read. "Consumption of media" is just cerebral production.

what's the full classical canon of hobbies?

I lost all my libido from some prescription drugs a few years ago. After I got over the urge to kill myself, understanding math revealed itself as one of the reasons to live.

Also, if you're good at it, you can make a lot of money.

Like, really, a lot of a lot of money.

reading is not a hobby nor is any other consumption of media.

I'd say so. Shooting and owning guns is a close second.

no. its a pastime like solving crosswords.

hobbies are creative endeavors that make people acquire/grow skills. reading creates literally nothing, and people often ends dumber than when they started ie. ya novels and airport mom novels.

>killing clouds
i'm picturing a young boy with a bucket on his head slashing at cloud knights with a broken broomstick

>Like, really, a lot of a lot of money.

And example occupation being?

actuary
data analyst

i would've cringed less if you had said videogames

>i would've cringed less if you had said video games
>cringed

Take your faggotry vocabulary back to whence you came, faggot.

>>>/reddit/

>muh guns are evil
>muh no one should own guns
