/Whisky/

The was no whisky thread so I made one. So what was your first dram of the year and did you like it ?

all whiskey is bad

if OP will allow the (e) variety I had a pour of this when I got home after the ball drop.

really glad I only save this for special occasions

/thread
The only reason to talk about whisky is to discuss how shitty it is.

A Port Charlotte, single cask, only about 6 years old so still very feisty - just a little 5cl sample.
It was nice, 56% abv so needed water but a nice way to bring in the bells.

Recently 21, going to try my first whiskey this week. Got a fifth of Buffalo Trace

I had my first drink last night, it was whiskey and it was like eating the devil's asshole. are there kinds that aren't so shit

Evan Williams Green Label. Incredible flavor.

No

Honestly, I loved the IDEA of whisky since my early 20s and I TRIED to like it. Tried giving it time, figured it was an 'aquired taste', but nothing. I could not truly appreciate it 'til my mid 20s, after having not drunk it for years. Taste buds need to mature I think. Now, see this I how I know everyone ITT is below 24.

You're kind of a fag, huh?

Talisker 10, got it after asking if it was worth it in another thread.
It was worth it.

Kys plebs.

Lagavulin 8
Which turned out to be a better whisky than Lag 16
I hope they keep this one around for a while

Taiwan knows what it's doing.

What can i expect from lagavulin in comparison to something like talisker? Ive never tried any of their whiskies

Shitty fucking whiskey taste

Kentucky Deluxe.

i like scotch, but i've only had a few shots of someone else's whiskey this year so far. i don't know what it was. also i'm not interested in this thread.

>watering down cask strength

here's your free vagina

>confusing whiskEy with whisky
>being this pleb
I bet youre just a manchild with no palate, please leave and go join your kind in a mcchicken thread

Could have done a lot worse, old son. That's a decent bourbon.

bought makers mark and evan williams to try off as my first whisky's. I gotta say I prefer the makers mark more than the EW. I find it much smoother and the EW.

any recommendations?

Did you paint this? It's nice.

...

essential beginner bourbons:
>buffalo trace
>bulleit
>wild turkey 101 (81 is garbage)
>woodford reserve

who /birddog/ here?

>four roses small batch/single barrel

Don't forget these

If you're talking Bulleit rye, then sure. But their straight bourbon is awful.

Gross

BUFFALO TRACE VIRAL MARKETING IN THIS THREAD
STAY ON YOUR TOES

Vice versa, lad. Their bourbon is decent, but nothing special. Their rye is literally just a mass-distilled blending component from an outsourced distillery facility in Indiana, bottled as a separate product.

>people recommend a good bourbon in the appropriate thread
VIRAL ALERT

Which first bottle of whiskey should I buy? Here is what I have to choose form:

>Jameson
>Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon
>Maker's Mark Bourbon Whisky
>Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
>The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
>Maker's 46 Kentucky Bourbon Whisky
>Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 years old
>Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey (out of stock right now though)

Jameson is a good entry level whiskey

Yeah, the Jameson or the Woodford

is
>buffalo trace is out of stock
a meme?

If you want to try scotch the glenfiddich 12 is a good start, it was mine. And while its not so distinct as the wider world of scotch its still fruity and more forgiving than others, its a good base point to set off from.

Neither are really that good, they do have cool bottles though at least

Woodford or the Glenfiddich IMO

Thanks. Trying to learn watercolor.

You did a good job user, Id be happy for it to be the face of many /whisky/ threads to come

Maker's Mark seems like a pretty good starting place for bourbon, even though the company is owned by a bunch of Japs now.

Buffalo Trace and Knob Creek should follow soon thereafter.

I can't tell you about scotch though, it has never been my thing

It looks good. Bring more content to Veeky Forums and help us de-crapify this place one painting at a time

That's OC?
It's nice. Thanks for making the effort.

Thanks user, You have inspired me to get more creative. Painting/drawing the bottles i drink seems like a great time investment.

knob creek is a good beginner bourbon.

I'm getting clean this year.

post what you are drinking right now!

Try Jameson first. If you can't stomach that then you will hate the rest.

I like the Glenlivet 12 better than the Glenfiddich 12.
