Lost of innocence happens when you gain knowledge about people/society/its rules which reveals they aren't as good as you believed. Happens constantly in all people of all ages. Happened to me right after a couple of months in a very good place to study. At first I had a very pure interest and attitude, admired and respected anyone but then I've started to see flaws, misbehaviour and I couldn't glorify them and rules they set any more but in terms of outside world I just lost my innocent attitude.
tl dr you don't loose your innocence, you gain the understanding of ugly rules and stop glorifying them which is better.
