What is Veeky Forums doing tonight? it's a saturday night - are you going out for some literary cocktails?

what is Veeky Forums doing tonight? it's a saturday night - are you going out for some literary cocktails?

I have no social life. Going to complain about women, blacks, Jews, and liberals on Veeky Forums all night probably

I'm completely clueless.

Lacan and wine.
It's that bad.

I had birthday dinner with my parents and little sister earlier, then we walked around the botanical gardens in my city for a few hours.

I'm just relaxing the rest of the night--my birthday's actually tomorrow and I've got a lot of stuff planned, so tonight is for resting.

to make it Veeky Forums-related here's the books I got for my birthday:

>The Book of Imaginary Beings by Borges
>Dark Spring by Unica Zurn
>Pybrac by Pierre Louys (boy was I lucky the store had it shrink-wrapped, didn't realize it had the dirty illustrations too)

I'm having a few vodka & tonics and reading Earthly Powers after i shitpost on Veeky Forums for a while. WYD, OP?
pic not related

trying to think of a legit excuse to stay in and not go to my girlfriend's boss's bbq. we've been fighting all week how she constantly invites me to shit and i don't want to go, which normally isn't true, but in this case is, but i can't really admit that here. waiting on a thai food delivery now. reading aleph. maybe i'll have a beer.

Those are some seriously petty problems, user.

How can you skip BBQ?

yeah i never said it was serious. also - if you're under 30 and dont want to get drunk - what the hell do you do on a saturday night? havent been feeling great and the thought of heavy drinking is real unappealing.

might fake sickness.

what country are you from?

wew senpai.

do you live in a city?

do you prefer vodka to gin?

>are you going out for some literary cocktails?
YES

Poor lad.

Watch a film with your other half, go shopping, build some Lego sets together, go to the symphony, go to a go-kart racing track, an indoor shooting range, rock climbing gym, etc. etc. There's plenty of things to do, as long as you're in a large-ish city.

USA. How come?

there's a botanical garden? where at?

small, pretty poor town.

Bourbon is my favorite but I only have vodka or beer right now. I can't even into gin.
You?

that's pretty tough if you're a young man.

There's tons of them, it seems like one in every major city at least. I was at the one in Dallas, though I like Fort Worth's better.

Not really for me since even if I lived in a rich, big city I'm fearful of big crowds and as I said, clueless.

I'm trying to tie up this bender without wrecking myself.

Had about nine beers and a pint of wine today to ease back into sobriety but it's rough. I miss having the gin on hand and I was pretty shaky this morning.

I'm at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino with my parents. None of us really feel compelled to drink or gamble at the moment, so I'm engaged in a slow conversation about making contemporary versions of illuminated manuscripts, browsing Veeky Forums, and drinking cheap beer from the circle bar. Read some of Paraise Lost earlier after swimming, stretching in the hot tub, and showering. Waiting for Blackjack tables to go back to $5 minimum bets.

Doesn't mean he isn't entitled to bitch about them online. Plenty of people have it worse than him, plenty of people have it better. Bitching is cathartic at any level of misery.

hegel and pabst.....

I'm probably going to dress up and go drink somewhere. Probably a hotel bar, I always meet interesting people there.

I am now watching anime, since I actually use this website for its original purpose.

Earlier I was practicing my German and was helping my girl with her homework, she had to skip today because she is with child and was feeling nauseous.

solo?

yours?

No, Jerome's.

What do you think.

Check the thread:

just checking. are you getting married

Gonna read comics in bed with gf, maybe order Chinese and watch a couple movies. Friends are too lame to hang out, aside from gf I haven't socialized in months.

2016 has been fucking boring for me, man. Got a good amount of reading and writing done this year, though.

We already are married, last year when she became of age.

same re: 2016. all my friends are older, near 30 and are getting married and moving away. don't really see it getting more fun anytime soon.

I'm only 23 and funnily enough, a lot of my friends are effectively "settling down." Nobody drinks or wants go out anymore. For the past 18 months, it seems like all my friends unanimously decided to start acting like 35 year-olds. Every time I text my friends, and if im lucky enough for them to answer, its something to the effect of
>Nah gonna chill home and play vidya and watch Netflix/Crunchyroll/tonight, I'm too tired/high to hang out lol

My friends are lame faggots and I have no idea how to make new ones.

I wrote that in the wrong place. Oops

>solo?

Yeah, that's how I usually roll. I mean, sometimes I'll go out with friends, but I also like to go out by myself. It's nice to travel light and easy, with no one to slow you down or keep you from going where you want.

what do you talk to people about?

my fecalfelia 2tqh.

>My friends are lame faggots and I have no idea how to make new ones.
Stem cells and robotics I think

I "hung out" and drank with some "friends," but they started talk about their social lives so I left. I'll probably take my meds to fall asleep before I get too sober.

whats wrong with social lives senpai

Good to bed, Adrian.

pretty chill tonight, I was just watching some comedians on YT with friends

Nothing, it's just a conversation I have nothing to add to

Just quit my job, nursing a hangover. Probably going to masturbate again just so I don't feel like shit for a few minutes. Then i'm getting back to my stack.

desu I prefer small talk/everyday life type conversations in general. Politic and world issues stress me out, and almost nobody I know has interesting taste in anything music/film/literature whatever. Social lives conversations are comfy.

When you are with friends, why would you want to hear them talking about their friends that you know nothing about?

It's very antisocial, I feel. Kind of like talking about how much better your ex was at pounding when at it with your current.

need to get on the nofap train desu

I agree, user there needs to just own up and admit to people he has little going, they wont care half as much as he seems to

so your response was to just irish exit instead of changing the subject?

I'm not allowed to talk politics bc I use... facts and quotes... and apparently that is "being an ostentatious douchebag."

I'm gonna take a shower then marathon Serial Experiments Lain (just got done marathoning Boogiepop Phantom).

{Prais'd be the Ɐ the Cent'ry.}

>At a great university studying Politics and IR and are well read in these areas
>Everyone casually talks about politics fairly regularly
>Am completely incapable of engaging in this kind of chat
>Everything I can think of to say is either trivial or too intense

I really think that social mixing shafts some people in ways we don't properly pay attention to. My upbringing hasn't prepared me for this

I'm not him, I'm just explaining what he probably felt in that moment. People going on about other people can be very alienating,

Mentioning social events as they effect oneself is perfectly fine, but going on about how your 9th best friend's cousin got accepted into community college is just filler.

When you're like me and have had a speech impediment for your entire life, you really learn to appreciate a good conversations versus a very hollow one. If I am going to spend with time with somebody, I want to hear about them and not some stranger that they know.

Little events and office politics certainly are easy to speak on, but it's very impersonal, I'd rather be in silence, but that might just because I'm better with romantic relationships than 'buddy' relationships, my closest friend is my wife after all.
Frankly, I've seen that people can really enjoy some rhetoric about 'tough subjects' as long as its all friendly.

Try something moderate out, starting a conversation out with a good subject is just as important as taking part in one.

I'm having a really nice wank.

I am watching football. I did stuff last weekend, I did stuff earlier today, and I'm doing stuff next week and weekend so I find it relaxing to chill atm

Yeah I am definitely that guy at times but I still hang. You just got to say yes as often as you can and never say no for two occasions in a row

rereading fellowship of the ring.

fuck you its comfy.

most people just bag on LOTR because it was the catalyst for the terrible genre of high fantasy
its no god tier literature but still a great series

Which MLS match are you watching, my niggerfaggot friend?

You are that dude with the 18 year old wife. Why are you so vocal about it?

She's 17 lad.

Because whatever things bring me or anybody else real joy should be spoken of.

Reading gospels, thinking about having some bourbon.

MSU/ND and I'll probably go to OSU after

I've been trying desperately to get into DC United, but I just can't seem to after watching La Liga or EPL.

The only soccer I watch is Olympics, World Cup, and those other tournaments where it's international

you have a 17 yr old wife? where the fuck are you from?

you live in DC? kalorama represent

Canada

Why are those people always so ugly?

In any case I'm sitting here drinking cheap red wine because I've got a 6 gallon carboy full learning/playing variously an acoustic guitar, a classical guitar, a flute, a recorder, and a bodhran and contemplating starting in on the celtic mythological canon or whatever one might call such as that, though the Arthurian mythos or rather the matter of Britain and the matter of France besides are a tempting alternative.

You have a 17 year old wife?
Props my man living the life. Youngest I've ever gone is 21 but I'm a 32 year old filthy pervert but was thinking about this 19 year old student I had but she was just too young and child like you know, but damn she was sexy as fuck.

PG County. You live in one of my favorite parts of the city, though.
