If Helium is so finite, rare and essential to modern medicine, why don't governments ban people from wasting it blowing up balloons?
If Helium is so finite, rare and essential to modern medicine...
Capitalism and conservatives suck. They subsidize helium even though they should not.
If NO2 is so rare, and expensive why doesn't the government subsidize it and replace Helium which would in turn increase the supplies for medical purposes.
because its not rare. it gets dumped as waste from natural gas wells
>because its not rare.
You are retarded.
>it gets dumped as waste from natural gas wells
The people dumping it are retarded.
/thread
go home, leftie.
Why can't we just create more helium?
>Why can't we just create more helium?
brb. grabbing some helium from the sun.
k, can you grab me some iron while you're there?
>conservatives waste valuable resources
>someone points it out
>suddenly they are the trash
I would understand if you were protesting the mention of politics on this board, but no. Just blind fanaticism.
You retards really should go back to /pol/
So you're saying... Conservatives aren't being conservative?
it's not rare. If it was rare we wouldn't be wasting it.
It will become rare in the future
Gotem boii whabauthat ,show'em Timmy!!
If Hydrogen is so abundant, why don't we just use that to blow up balloons, and save the Helium for the important stuff?
>Helium
>The second most abundant element in the universe
>Rare
Also we aren't about to run out of Helium.
forbes.com
Citation needed. Otherwise, go back to /pol/.
if CO2 is so infinite, abundant, and a toxic gas to humans and the planet, why don't the governments ban people from making more of it?
Fuck you.
Word for word I was about to post this.
Holy fuck!
Let me save other actual scientifically minded anons from burning their eyes on that FORBES garbage.
Here is business people's magical, revolutionary idea.
After you sift through a couple pages of them jacking themselves off, talking about their book they published and how they are an expert, they finally dish out their juicy, revolutionary idea:
> All we've got to do is stick the right doohickey on the side of those plants and we're cool, good to go.
Genius! Just fucking genius!
> doohickey
Genius!!!!!!
Yeah bro fuck capitalism #antifa #lgbthqkjs. But in all honesty, scientific research only advances under communism if they have the funds to support it. Capitalism is extraordinarily better at promoting science and maths.
Because that restricts the rights of the individual unnecessarily. If you restricted everything that was detrimental to science from being done, we would barely have any rights.
>All we've got to do is stick the right doohickey on the side of those plants and we're cool, good to go.
>that's an actual direct quote from the article
>second most abundant element in the universe
>rare
XD lmao u got nize m3m3s palo

>retards actually think helium is rare
If you think we're going to run out, then why do you think nobody is storing it to sell when it suddenly becomes very expensive due to scarcity?
And don't just say "because they're retarded". Because that's a fuck ton of money on the table that *nobody* is trying to grab.
same reason we keep burning the decreasing supply of fossil fuels and having an economy that is increasingly dependent on fossil fuels even though it will crash and take us to the dark ages again.
capitalism is blind about anything that isn't happening in the next financial quarter.
Wrong. Please for the love of God take a basic economics class.
As the supply of oil dries up (if it ever will - more is found every day), price will rise, slowly. Quite slowly. As the price goes up, several things happen. 1: Alternative energy sources become relatively cheaper and 2: People have incentives to reduce their reliance on oil. Another thing is that people try harder to find oil but we can ignore that.
1 and 2 mean that basically the "death" of oil will be really long and drawn out. And won't really effect you because by the time it runs out you've long ago switched to other sources of energy. The reason oil dominates today is because it is very cheap, very transportable, very energy dense, and it has a lot of momentum. When the price starts to rise (again, if it ever does), its main benefits dry up and people switch to other sources.

Not the first time that financial institutions manipulated resource shortages to control the market *cough Goldman Sachs cough*.
There is no short term financial incentive since we have 20 years to go. Once we start running out, then there will be plenty of hoarding.
But you know, all you financial people go the way of the baby boomers. You motto:
Let us be gluttons and worry about now. Fuck the future, including our children and grandchildren.
I hope not.
>As the supply of oil dries up (if it ever will
Holy shit, you cannot be this delusional.
We would all die in that case.
Yeah and wrestling is real
because this
Did you read the rest of my post? My point is that as oil becomes scarcer and scarcer, it becomes more expensive and people start wanting it less. So basically the last billion barrels of oil would be much more expensive than its alternatives, and so nobody will pay to dig it out.
>nonrenewable = rare
Are you people being silly on purpose?
>nonrenewable
lmao nigga just fission some particles
Hindenburg was never designed for hydrogen. They filled it with hydrogen for the first time, with no previous testing, on a windy day, and exploded that same day, and they wonder 'HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED!?!'
I'll grab you a big bag of "read a fucking book"
It's so easy to make all you need is a reactor
>finite resource on earth
>almost infinite amount in surrounding solar system
Hurr it's so easy to go get more hydrogen that it's not rare
It was sabotage!

>As the supply of oil dries up (if it ever will
>If it ever will
This is why Veeky Forums doesn't take economic s seriously.
Abiotic oil is a reality
In 100 years the use/production of oil will be irrelevant
Retarded liberals who get their reality from clickbait articles should be ignored/beaten
If only Helium was the only thing we're wasting right now.
By then it's too late.
> Abiotic oil is a reality
Ok, I'm curious. Made from what, exactly?
> Inb4 Donald Trump said so
>they don't know how to make helium

This thread... christ.
Helium is rare in our atmosphere, which is what the OP meant. Of course there's shit-loads of it in space, that's not what we're talking about. It was once thought to be completely non-renewable and that we would run out eventually. Now, geologists/geochemists are learning that radioactive decay within the Earth causes collections of *new* He to form in natural gas reservoirs.
