Wake up in morning

>wake up in morning
>spend a few minutes washing approx 3 or 4 cups of rice
>put it in pot
>cover with warm water so that when tip of finger is touching rice the water line reaches the first knuckle joint
>let sit on stove all day while I do my shit
>Turn on 20 minutes before it's time to eat
What's your ritual for perfect rice?

a rice cooker

I've had trouble deciding if I really want one tb.h
I get the same result from stove-top, at the expense of exerting a tiny bit more effort.
I don't mean to sound like alton brown or anything, but I don't like having big things taking up space that only serve one purpose.

>he thinks he gets rice cooker quality rice on his stove top

Maybe Black & Decker $30 rice cooker quality

Those are for people living in dorms who don't have stoves.

Otherwise rice cookers=neuro logic.

*fuzzy logic

I'm pretty confident I can, user

That's not safe at all.

What did he mean by this?

Alton Brown himself approves of the rice cooker.

>warm water
Don't cook with warm tap water

I've got a rice cooker and it works just dandy for me since I eat like 4000calories of rice a day. I make rice on the stove when i'm making something other than just plain white rice, like if i'm making sushi rice or something. The temperature control is key, and I have a proper pressure cooker for that too.

Not eating ching chong chink pooh in the loo muck.

I use the absorption method in a pot on the gas stove because I'm not a pleb who needs an electric rice cooker

Btw do American rice cookers take twice as long as the rest of the world like electric kettles because of muh 110v?

Koshihikari rice, washed 10 times, sit in a sieve 30 minutes, soak in water 1 hr, then rice cooker.

Weeb detected

Rice grains folded 1000 times.

I really love basmati too but it doesn't come out well in my rice cooker

I saw on cooking w/kurma once to saute the rice in clarified butter after washing and drying, cook until translucent then add hot water or broth so it doesn't stop cooking and finish with lid on like normal. That's my fancy way. Rice cooker with water and turn it on, fluff 5 minutes after finished is go to.

>heat a tbsp of oil in a pot
>heat two cups of water on an electric kettle
>drop a cup of rice (no wash) on hot oil and lightly saute while water boils
>add a teaspoon of salt
>pour boiling water on rice
>set to lowest heat and cover
>turn heat off when there's no more visible water and there are "holes" in the rice

That's about it. Sometimes I'll add a teaspoon of curry powder, or saute a garlic clove together with the raw rice, or add some pimento slices

>3 or 4 cups of rice
Isn't that enough for two days? Unless all you're eating is rice and nothing else.

>rice cooker
>quality rice

lol no, i can go order rice cooker cooked rice anywhere near me and it tastes like shit compared to the rice i can make on my stove top

Me and 1 other person eat rice for two meals each day.
If it's just me, I'll only make like 1.5-2 cups

>What's your ritual for perfect rice?

> go to Chinese restaurant
> get General Tso's
> it comes with rice

we all yellow slant-eyed masterrace now yayayay

>pooh in the loo
That's India, you tard. Rice is Chinese.

>Rice is Chinese

Rice has been cultivated outside of China before there was a China, dimwit.

To answer OPs question, my ritual is:
Wash 3 times in the morning.
Add to Zojirushi with water.
Turn on the timer.
Have it ready for dinner.

What's the difference?

Sub human targets soon to be subjugated or exterminated by the WASP master race. If you want to eat rice, you can have it in a work camp.

if you're serious about cooking you shouldn't own a rice cooker

what do you season your rice with?

salt and pepper is a must, I've been doing it Ramsay style with star anise and cardamom, but I'm looking to explore more possibilities

Ma nigga

use this because not poorfag and i don't have time to waste cooking rice in a pan like some third worlder.

you don't get the same pressure just in a regular stovetop pot
you need a heavy iron or stone pot to keep the pressure inside

OP here
I don't usually season my rice
I usually eat it donburi style with a boat load shit on top so seasoning isn't really necessary
When I eat plain rice, I usually go with soy sauce or furikake. when I eat tamago kake gohan I usually just do egg salt and msg

>people hating on rice cookers
Literally kill yourselves. Using a rice cooker is convenient as fuck since you can make rice with 0 effort while using the stove for the other components of your meal. Also used it for those huge fluffy pancakes once and it was great.

Cheap ones are shit.
Zojirushi aren't worth the price.
A bad deal either way.

This desu, the extra effort is minimal and it's not worth the space and the time and money

That rice looks horrifying. Are you trying to make congee or something?

Good thing I didn't buy either one of those

Why?

Adults are talking. Go to your room.

He thinks everybody lives in a third world shit hole
Literally nothing wrong with the tap water where I am.
This is what rice cooker fags believe is good rice
hahaha

Wait, do you seriously eat three or four cups of rice?

>rice grains folded 1000 times
All my almonds have been activated and are now missing

Not alone
Usually feeds me and 1 or 2 others for dinner and lunch
left overs get saved and turned into porridge, fried rice, or get fed to the dog

Imagine having this bad of a superiority complex.

you can make soups, beans, and other grains easily, it's not just for rice

T. JEALOUS.

My rice is delicious :)

>Saucepan on kitchen scale
>Rice in
>Cold water in = rice weight x1.5
>Low heat, cooking time by instinct, low heat makes it almost foolproof and stressless anyway

Hey what's the deal with basmati rice ? I've tried different brands but it always tastes like dust. I always use Thai rice.

I love my rice cooker so much. Worth every penny.

Rice with dried garlic, chicken soup base and butter.
Will add green onions later and pepper.

Cant beat a black and decker rice cooker.

Ya know what sucks ass about living where i do in the south.

in GA.

I have to drive like fucking 40- 50 mins for some god damn asikan food

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!

I like mine because I can set it to cook the rice as I get home from work

Two cold water washes of jasmine rice, 18 minutes in covered simmering water with butter, garlic, pepper, red pepper, oregano
Served with any meat in the world! It's the best rice.

Guess you're not ITP... sorry!

the same glorious race that is obsesed with cucking and black cocks?

>I'm going to be insulting on the internet instead of answering the question

My tap water is fine too. I simply asked why one mustn't use it warm. Was it a difficult question?
