Why is nutrition such an underdeveloped field...

Why is nutrition such an underdeveloped field? You would think having to eat multiple times a day and it being a major part of human life people would research it more seriously. Even to this day people can't agree if things like sugar, grains, and fat are good or bad for you.

It's as underdeveloped as stomache cancer in its last stage.

People are addicted to drugs and prefer sugar, fat, salt, etc. And most people are too ignorant to see that malnutrition makes them more stupid. People are too lazy and don't care about themselves, or anyone else. There are a lot of hopeless people who have no chance of learning on their own.

>Why is nutrition such an underdeveloped field?
>There are a lot of hopeless people who have no chance of learning on their own.

Did you intend to answer the question or is the last sentence just supposed to stick?

Nutrition science is a mess because food companies have been lobbying and paying off "studies" for the past century.

The scales of "what's good for you and what's bad for you" continually tip based on who's lobbying the FDA. For example, the corn industry (i.e. corn syrup) heavily influenced the idea that "fat is bad, sugar is okay" - which MAY not be entirely correct (or maybe it is - the idea is that it's biased based on ).

As soon as we can get food corporations' chubby fingers away, then we might have a better shot at a more rigorous approach to nutrition science.

That is so short sighted.

Nutrition concerns everyone. Do the representatives of food companies think they are exempt? What use does all that money have if your quality of life is reduced because you blocked honest nutrition research?

>sugar, grains, and fat are good or bad
They're neither. And the biggest factor will always be physical activity, or lack thereof.

They probably simply don't care. If they fuck up their heart, they can just pay top-tier doctors to get a new one. But a lot of people don't care about what they eat in general - they eat things that are blatantly bad for you. Why would they care about science (especially if there's more profit to be made)?

Real food exists, you know? Good food. The issue is that we mass-produce is trash. The CEOs of the trash-food companies are eating whatever they want, probably really well, while the rest of society remains ignorant and suffers a health epidemic

LOL how long have you been living in capitalism son?

Lucky for you so many foods for the masses comes in foil, eh?

Do you think CEO's of major companies are eating pleb food? Hell no, they only eat organic grass fed foods. Billionaires even have their own private farms and greenhouses.

big multinationals selling you cancerous shit don't want you to touch the topic too much, otherwise they'll be in trouble... so lobbying the shit out of the system in order to stay afloat and real nutrition being buried

Why would you think this is some sort of "conspiracy?" It's blatantly obvious.

Everyone knows lots of sugar is bad. The CEOs know this as well, so they just won't eat a ton of it. But, if they can pressure the FDA to say "well, sugar is bad, but not THAT bad," then they get more sales. Yeah, the average person knows sugar is bad, but if they see "official studies" saying "well, it's 'okay' to eat this much," then they might go out and buy a little more of some food with sugar (i.e. corn syrup, as it is the corn industry that I'm talking about in this specific example).

It's not a black and white issue of "they know something we don't." It's just a subtle way for corporations to interfere with actual science.

organic is a meme

They're certainly not eating pleb food, but they might not be making food decisions completely based on their health.

I'd suggest that expensive food tends to be healthier. Expensive meals tend to have balance and variety of components, including fruits and vegetables. This will naturally make them healthier, though the CEO might not be purely making the decision based on health (but rather, on taste and status).

Just eat like a normal human being and pay attention to your stomach, if your stomach is curling from your daily cheeseburger maybe it's time for you to consider salads for a change. Avoid fad diets. The whole idea of "eating correctly" is stupid in of itself anyway. Everyone is in this mad dash to eat healthy because grandpa died of stomach cancer at age 80 well guess what chucklefuck old people die from cancer and your meme organic diets from whole foods isn't gonna stop the cancer genes from rotting your colon inside out either.

Just care for a plant.
Same applies for you, you care results are better.

1) human biology is freaking complicated and we still don't understand 1/10th of it
2) lobbying, Big Pharma, Dorito-Lay etc.

Because it's been handed off to wicked women who lie and made it unbearable to learn about in academia.

is something Soylent-esque the future of nutrition?

It puts the Materialist model in a very bad light and exposes Scientism as a (borderline-useless) byproduct of Politics.

>It's da evul corporations
The research and literature is there, any pediatrician will tell you. The same with alcohol and tobacco. People just aren't always driven by life choices that will have a positive effect on their health.

Pretty much this.

Everyone knows that people on average eat too much meat, too few plants and don't exercise enough.

Sure, finding food that isn't full of added sugar or salt might be difficult in some developing countries such as USA, but blaming lack of research or knowledge is just escapism.

HELP

I'm really sick. Got the flu or more likely food poisoning. Spent many hours on Friday night vomiting and squirting diarrhea out of my ass. The vomiting has stopped but the diarrhea WILL NOT FUCKING END. Literally every handful of seconds for the past two days now my entire stomach roils and churns extremely loudly. It kept me awake last night, all the liquid shit squeezing through my intestines. And I constantly feel the urge to squirt it out yet my body only allows me short and tiny spurts of diarrhea to leave every 3 or 4 hours or so.

Yesterday I had two cans of chicken soup, lots of water, and gatorade. But I'm just as bad, if not worse, than I was yesterday. What do I do? I'm going to try and eat a banana and some rice today, but this shit needs to stop. I've got a write up on perspectivism in science due tomorrow and I'm afraid I won't be up to the task.

Go to a doctor moron.

The problem is basically that people are generally extremely emotional over what they eat and what that adds up to. That makes people particularly vulnerable to misinformation and the food industry prone to manipulation. There probably are some people out there who do serious nutritional science, but they are usually poorly funded and are hardly visible between the research funded by corporations and general bullshit that gets adapted by desperate, mentally ill people.

Is Nutrition a good major in terms of finding jobs? I don't really care about the money because I love health and nutrition. As long as I can make enough to live comfortably.

I'd like to become an RD but what else is there? Or should I switch to some kind of Health degree?

>people can't agree if things like sugar,
>grains, and fat are good or bad
Turn of the TeeVee and read something
pertinent to this issue, fgt pls

fat is better than karbohydrates

watch the video about the production of that waste
there are rats roaming the factory and moldy walls

...

Because business and general commercialisation is too deeply intertwined with it. This is the case for almost all fields to an extent but for nutrition it's at the very foundation.

Same reason why psychology or neurosciwnce is relatively underdeveloped. its also arguably too mundane to be considered interesting and is a field that probably in general isn't massive for making money.

>Is Nutrition a good major in terms of finding jobs?
its absolutely shit

Drink Coke, not even memeing you. And go to the fucking doctor because you might require some infusions.

On-topic, it's pretty well researched, we know what's healthy but you can't really educate the masses, people don't always give enough of a shit, and fast food is really convenient. I mean, aside from fancy dinners, Trump eats about the same garbage as most of America.

Two good sources of protein.

>they only eat organic

what a bunch of idiots then
bet you fell for the meme too and is paying twice for the same amount of food

>having to eat multiple times a day

You already fucked up.

We shouldn't be eating more than once a day. Long periods of fasting are actually good for us. It reduces the number of hormone spikes, increases motivation, and allows our bodies to actually use up glucose stores, so you'll end up being shredded.

and that meal should consist of non overprocessed food including fish, meat, dairy, whole grains, vegetables, fruits and healthy oils/fats. remember variety is great !

IF with real food is the key to good diet

These people care more about money than their health

Too many variables. It is that simple.

What about Public Health?
