Teacher said this was an amazing book he rereads every once in a while. Recommended it. Should I read it? Its short anyway.

>he

Just no

I only read the beginning of that one but i've read the mage and i liked it, my vote is a yes.

I loathed every second of it.
But it's short, so give it a try and see for yourself.

if you are a retard or a girl go for it

your teacher is a pleb

I read it when i was 16 it's short and gets you hooked early, you should just give it a try

I'm sorry that you have such a terrible teacher.

Literally the worst book I have ever read. Had to read it in ninth grade and the whole class including the teacher (it was forced on us by the administration) had nothing but bad things to say about it.

But it is short, so just give it a go, yeah?

I read it a long time ago, I was a kid. Didn't make much of an impression.

If you don't get the underlying message and not a man I don't think you'll like it. Very good book if you get it, also "Iron John" is a great similar message book.

>Literally the worst book I have ever read.

Exactly this. It really is the most terrible book I've ever encountered. With the utterly shitty and idiotic as fuck moral and almost complete lack of everything else, nothing about it is good. The greatest merit it has is that it allows you to gauge how naive and mentally undeveloped the people who do like it are.

OP here. Checking good reads and this thread everybody claims this book is aids riddled diarrhea. It can't be that bad, kind of curious now.

>It can't be that bad

Oh, trust me, it is.

Specifically articulate why RIGHT NOW.

It's infamously terrible, but has fans kind of like The Secret.

Haven't read it, but: what's the moral and why is it idiotic?

>what's the moral and why is it idiotic?

That if you want something badly enough, the whole universe will conspire to allow you to obtain it, so you can do anything regardless of the consequences and it will work out in the end if you try hard enough.

not even trolling, it is literally
>don't worry about anything, you just have to wait and everything that is meant to be will happen by nature of it being your destiny, as long as you want it enough

i'm still mad that i bought this piece of shit instead of renting it or borrowing it from someone.

This man in my country, he is nothing

Your teacher proved he is a pleb.

Sounds like that book 'The Secret', about how if you want something enough, just think about it a lot and you'll get it.

There's something sad about people reading books for 'messages' like these. It's not positivity or optimism, it's delusion.

It is a nice little book and a decent example of the Hero's Journey.
It has some silly psycho-babble about love near the end, but has clever ending based on an old fable.

A good book, but not worthy of some of the over-blown praise (and over-blown contempt) some give it.

That sounds pretty dumb, but not worst book ever tier.

It's not that bad, I liked it when I first read it.
It's quite a good book to read in another language if you're looking for something to practice with.

You are on my planet, you are nothing.

I thought it was going to be one of those "The treasure is a metaphor" or "The real treasure was the girl" books and I assumed it would be shit because of that. But then it turns out its actual treasure, and somehow, it was even shittier.

If you wanna read Coehlo, go for the books that have some kind of plot instead of ONLY the spiritual stuff. 11 minutes or Veronika decides to die.

...it's still Coehlo know. Like, know what you're getting into.

its fun to read, so it should probably be judged as entertainment and not literature

*still Coehlo though

Also check my lovely quads.

What's the difference?

Mirin quads and Bond follow up.
Also, Coelho a shit.

You must be the Alchemist yourself because that was pure GOLD you made just now

Entertainment is meant to entertain, and literature is meant to be difficult, joyless, and pretentious. i.e. this board. Because literally none of this boards favorite books are good or readable. If a writer didn't spend more time using a thesaurus to overcomplicate his book with descriptions about shit that's unrelated to the plot then he did making sure the book was readable and interesting, Veeky Forums doesn't read it.

So which one of lits favorites overindulge in thesaurus talk?

>he

is he black or something?

I'm guessing this teacher doesn't teach literature. History, maybe? or chemistry

top kek

For the first few posts I was laughing at the high Veeky Forums shitposting standards, but then I realized some people here unironically think this book is any good. Wha. This board is degrading.

No, he is a 30 year old white male

holy shit lmao btfo

Just got out of county, my god loving cell mate recommended it highly...ill never read it.

>aids riddled diarrhea
>can't be that bad

Believe me, user, it can be worse than that

"You can do anything you set your mind to and bend the universe to your will!"

This pretty much sums it up.

Don't read this book. It's full of wrong interpretations of life, in can tech you something about morality and happiness, but on other hand it can make you seriously confused on many other things in life, if you are not ready for it. People who like this book is full of blissful ignorance and illusion.

Yes, it's one of the best books ever written, his other books are all shit, but this one makes you think.

It's feel-good hippie filth. Basically "my feelings are God and so I must follow muh feelings to the ends of the earth because muh feelings" Truly a book with no teeth, where nothing bad ever happens to the protagonist except near the end. He doesn't find his treasure (spoiler!) even after travelling through EXOTIC LANDS and meeting a SEXY ARAB GIRL but it's so SAD because he has to leave her BEHIND and blah blah blah

It's basically shitty gnostic wish fulfillment porn disguised as a "thoughtful philosophical" book. It's trash.

>the wrong interpretation of life

haven't read it, but lol statement anyway
