Is it true that comics becomed new literature...

Is it true that comics becomed new literature, and such titles like Saga or Tintin Adventure are more important than any post-60s novel will ever be?

No, it's not true.

By the way, do I even have to point out what horns on a dude represent?

just looking at that picture i can tell that is trash

I like Saga but holy shit is it ever SJW

The best comic is Cerebus.

yeah comics seem to be going that way Rat Queens is the embodiment of SJW which is a shame i wish i could like it

Why are they so expensive? Are the early ones all out of print or something?

I haven't read the last three sagas and I'm worried they're going to put Trump or something gay like that. I can't remember for sure but I think the first couple books weren't as SJW as the rest.

No and no

>Nobody actually reads them any more
>Just watches film adaptations
>Everything most people know about comics is through pop-cultural osmosis

Yeah, the same thing is happening to comics as happened to "real" books - people are literally becoming too lazyand/or stupid to read.

It just took longer to properly impact the comics readership, as comics are more appealing in general than books - being brightly coloured and often easily digestible by the feebleminded.

You all have probably heard enough of Transmetropolitan, Preacher and Sandman over the years.

Anybody here read The Incal, or The Metabarons?

Jodorowsky understands entertainment.

No. its just directionless garbage were author throws shit at the wall because its shocking to the casuals. a well read person in unmoved and unimpressed, especially given how much time goes by between issues

>By the way, do I even have to point out what horns on a dude represent?
They are both dudes
I would say its mildly SJW, transhumanism and strange sex have been a staple of science fiction for ages and it would be a shame to lose it to SJW
True. When I finally picked up the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, I was surprised that it was a mystery type story and pleased by the nuance of Jekyll being neutral instead of good. it was like rediscovering the same story in a new light.

How much of it have you read? I just couldn't force myself to get through Latter Days.

The payoff at the end of Form and Void though...

>comics becomed new literature

Saga is tumblr made into book form with average art. The general public and teens fall for this type of swill in droves so dont pay to much attention to it. There are actual literary graphic novels out there but are scarce.

Nobody outside a tiny minority on the internet even knows what Saga fucking is. Not to mention its just garbage in general.

Tintin is basically a childrens book

Shitty bait thread but I come to shill pic related. Not even memeing, it's like a mix between Citizen Kane and Forrest Gump with some good world-building in the duck universe.

Tintin is on Le Monde's top 100 books of the 20th century for some reason

I prefer manga over MURRICAN SJW comics but I like both, I think manga and comics can definitely be literature but it depends what type. For manga I suggest looking into Gekiga and getting familiar with the likes of Yoshihiro Tatsumi, who basically wrote stories which are filled with depth and irony about the working class struggling or suffering as post-war Japan was getting back on its feet.

Shigeru Mizuki is also a good author. And I know more modern but I think Veeky Forums would like Jiro Taniguchi.

Fuck you, Saga is not bad
>for a comic book.

you have yet to see true tumbler. for story seek Symmetry by Matt Hawkins, for art seek new batgirl or squirrel girl

this
>that desperate attempt to make everyone in the picture super unique
>androgynous purple haired dragon bug tranny
no thank you

>I like Saga but holy shit is it ever SJW
this is why I generally avoid comics, they seem to think that just becuase you throw in a tranny or lesbian couple the comic is automatically interesting and unique when in reality its just the same usual crap

entry bar is also low as hell. webcomic artists and furry porn artists get published by image comics

To be fair a lot of "literary" fiction does exactly this nowadays
