>is this about the queers?

Dalkey fucked the title of Bottom’s Dream. It's supposed to be a quotation mark, not apostrophe. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWW!!!

>Bottom's Dream

lol keep tryin to justify that block of deforestation.

Can you post some excerpts of Bottoms Dream?

This is what is on my bookshelf currently.

>literally a biological computer processing social relations through numbers and making bleeping noises

is there even in least a furtive albeit low-budget story to follow it? bc it reads like C++ if it was drafted by a court stenographer on PCP

i hope you actually jerk off to the nin
it feels pseudy to read erotic fiction and not enjoy it carnally

also you appear to have two copies of ulysses

How is maldoror? I want one. I've actually looked in multiple RL bookstores for one.

...

It's got shark-rape.

That's how all German dicks look like.

And another one.

I admire you for being a fellow math/lit/, but you're making pleb choices for textbooks and arcticles.

Imagine a book called Dream Bottoms.

At first I was all "Who the fuck would want to read that Vollmann tome" but realized I want to read Bottom's Dream.
So whatever, man.

>>ever since moving to Australia
>Fuck off we're full.

Dont worry, hes a prisoner with a penchant for killing primitives

Have a lot of books, but only a few select that would be considered "literature". Currently reading Paradise Lost

>having sideways bookshelves.
Think you're better than me?

i've read the 1922 owc and just picked up the gabler today.

nice kierke, i love that beautiful dane
what are those other two books about?

>not a stack
REEEE

no ones actually read this right?

This Boy's Life is a pretty famous memoir by Tobias Wolf (short story writer, novelist, etc.--read A Bullet in the Brain for an introduction) about growing up in the 50s. I think there might be a movie about it even.

RURD is Vollmann's attempt to come to a "moral calculus" to determine when violence is justified. Originally it was seven volumes and nearly 4000 pages--this is the abridged version.

But why?

It was rather good, but felt a bit short.

I've been meaning to read In Pharaoh's Army. Sounds really interesting. I also want to get my clammy pink hands on all seven volumes of Rising Up&Rising Down.

Abridging things seems wrong somehow, even when it makes sense.

>mist fuck haze
What the fuck

Why is that Dune so thick?

>Buying physical popular books
>Not just downloading them onto a tablet and then spending money on physical rare books

not a lot of words per page

Are you into applied ethics? If so, you got any other book recs? I've been getting into it after my first Ethics class and now planning to minor in it.

how long does a book sit on your shelf before its read? i cant just buy like 10 books and have them sit around for months. am i autistic for buying books one at a time?

>All that Arno Schmidt
Is he any good or just a meme, I like some of your stack like Anaïs Nin, Melville, a different Nabokov choice and I'm curious if Grossman is as good as Veeky Forums say
I can't say anything about this but hope you like them and...
>Hungarian
That shit is cryptic as hell
What do you study?
Iván Denísovich is amazing
Nice Kierkegaard
Nice stack, the epic of gilgamesh is really that thin? I've been meaning to read it, great falkner's, can't go wrong with woolf, gabriel garcia marquez is boring as fuck, tho

The hungarian stuff if you are interested:
>John Steinbeck:East of Eden
>Polonyi Péter:I was a student in Beijing
>Hungarian-chinese basic dictionary
>Lin Yutang:My country and my people

>Post ur stacks, m8s. R8, B8, H8, 88.
>88

did you just start math? you got the wrong books, you need the shitty yellow cover ones

looks like a bad copy of house of leaves

It's because of gravity and trying to post to servers in the northern hemisphere.

Am literally cringing. Fuck those books man. Every one of them I've ever used as sucked n-dimensional dick.

Am I the only one that really likes to have books arranged by length?

>the epic of gilgamesh is really that thin?
I was going to ask this aswell.

>being poor and not owning both physical copies and digital copies of all the books you have interest in

Rate my desk stack

Currently reading stack beside my bed.

...

I do own 2 copies, one in english, the other is what is considered the best translation to my first tongue, have read both

I'm trying at a rate of 2 pages a day.

You're trying so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It wont even matter

But really, how far have you gotten?

page 2

...

>fleurs du mal
would be dope but its in spanish, probably better than reading it in english though.

Lots of French literature reads a lot better in Spanish than in English.

Page 34 now.

Back to /pol/ with you.

Je n'ai pas oublié, voisine de la ville,
Notre blanche maison, petite mais tranquille;

is one of a handful of poems that has stuck with me.

non-fiction masterrace. Also yes, I did steal a couple of those from the library. I kind of feel bad about it but my college library really fucked me with their textbook buy back.

>Someone wasted years of their life writing this autistic shit.
>Someone equally as autistic wasted their time translating it.

Hows that Vollmann? I'm midway through the Atlas and considering picking up some more of his stuff

4/10
7/10 (movies)
5/10
8/10
Can't tell what they are/10

>7/10 (movies)

Did he mean by this that the movies are 7/10, that the books were 7/10 excluding the movies or that the fact that I have movies next to my stack lowered my score to 7/10 from the expected 10/10?

Got these to go through. Cleared through most of my late-Summer stack and am finishing up The Corrections right now. I think I'll read Submission next, but I also have Super-Cannes by JG Ballard on the way.

I rated the movies.
6/10

>there is 1500 pages of this nonsense

Was this written for high functioning autists with schizophrenia?

in its original German, it had a linguistic complexity comparable to Finnegans Wake. All of the brackets and annotations and other funky shit you see in the English version were just a necessity of translating it.

>wind in the willows

ultimate comfy

>The Catcher in the Rye
>A Thesaurus
>A dictionary
>Random japanese writer
>A laptop
Jesus fucking christ user 3/10

that's a nintendo new 3dsxl, my dude.

>just moved to australia
>reading peter carey
>pro hart print on wall

Nicely done cunt

lol John Jay on the cover of Ivan Ilych

Are the force awakens and shatterpoint any good? would you recomend one over the other?

That sounds weird. If i see a book cheap i buy if if i think i might read it in the future. I currently have like 30 books i havent read

>Bottom's Dream
>no Jerusalem
you messed up

>the epic of gilgamesh is really that thin?
I'm not familiar with that edition but the epic itself is only about a hundred pages. Most other editions include several other myths/poems from Mesopotamia so I assume that that one is just the standard Epic of Gilgamesh

There is only so much you can chisel onto a stone tablet.

>About a hundred pages
It's a half an hour read fuck's sakes.
aina.org/books/eog/eog.pdf

Pretty much. There's also significant damage to several of the tablets and it's thought that many are missing as well.
