Take a guess I'm redpilled

On July I read The Sound of Waves. Literally a romantic slice of life anime, but that's exactly what I liked about it.

I read the Temple of the Golden Pavilion and Confessions of a Mask earlier this year. I have a few more of his books that are in my backlog that I want to get to.

Skip Mishima and get into Oe instead.

Rereading Runaway Horses atm.

A few months ago I guess.

>been meaning to read forbidden color for months
>always blow the money in other stupid shit
f-f-forgive me mishima senpai

Think I read Sailor two years ago

Been meaning to read this one too. It's been sitting on my shelf for ages.

They are not related

I reread Sun and Steel and Patriotism earlier this year. It's been a few years since I read Sailor and Golden Pavilion

>redpilled
>doesn't read anything thought-provoking or that challenging to his self-indoctrination
checks out

couple months ago I read The Sailor. Been meaning to pick up Confessions and Sound of Waves

Last year. Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea.

This.
But 5 months ago

But they're both Japanese, that makes them equivalents to pleb whites.

this, last summer I think

Best of the tetralogy. His philosophizing is a little bit recondite sometimes but still amazing.

I live in Japan and read Japanese to an extent. "Sailor" is a minor work that is little read in Japan and much more read in the west I think. I've always wondered what contributes to its much broader appeal abroad.

>Be Veeky Forums
>Read Sun and Steel for fitness tips
>Get a load of stupid philosophical/aesthetic shit

I ended up tearing the book in half.

Probably the violence, not even memeing. What Mishima is read most often over there? Also who are the main 'classic' authors?

>I GOT SO MAD I BROKE IT IM SO FUCKING RIPPED!!!!

>Tfw too strong to turn the pages without tearing them out

You will never know this feel.

>Probably the violence, not even memeing.
Maybe.
>What Mishima is read most often over there?
Oh, more or less the same as what is read abroad. "Confessions"..."Golden Pavillion"... It's all more or less the same just that I've noticed western readers of Mishima have all read "Sailor" and put it up there with those.

>Also who are the main 'classic' authors?
Souseki, Oe, Akutagawa...

That girl is fucking perfect.

I don't like girls that could beat the shit out of me

>Implying that's not half of the appeal

She could trap you in headlocks, use your crotch as a punch bag, and plenty more.

read Confessions of a Mask around midway through the year
looking forward to reading Temple of the Golden Pavilion or Forbidden Colours next

>yfw Mishima spoke perfect English in a pretty commendable snobby, received pronunciation English accent

He kind of sounds like Monty kek.

Never knew.

Kawabata > Mishima > Akutagawa = Abe > Murakami = Murakami > Oe

I still need to read Soseki.

Also, Dazai after Akutagawa.

best sun and steel translation?

ppp
ooo

What's wrong with Oe?

>putting Schlock Horror Ryu on the same level as a pure artist like Haruki

NO
FUK U
MUH SURREALISM MUTHAFUCKA

He's the 20th century Haruki Murakami, but much more dry.

Even if that was true, what would be wrong with it?

Not saying it's wrong, I just like other authors better than Oe.

I see. It's just that Murakami gets a lot of flak here, I think because he's so popular and mainstream.
