Is this anything more than Econ 101 common sense with 500 pages of flowery language? I feel like this will be one of those boring as fuck novels that I want to finish solely to feel superior to normies but I can't even bear to finish.

You realize that no one actually reads The Wealth of Nations because it's too overly convoluted. Just read another book that focuses and analyses The Wealth of Nations.

>novels
Yeah you might as well not even bother reading it dipshit

Das kapital

Economics in one lesson is good. show's how retarded socialism is and how they live in delusional fairy unicorn land.

If you actually want to learn economics, please don't read this trash.

I have read that and 23 things they don't tell you about capitalism which I think is an ideal intro. I have also read about finance from various sources.

This is why I made the OP. I want to know if wealth of nations is useful for more than just lit cred

t. cuck

agreed. wouldn't solely rely on it, but both are a fantastic introduction. in the same boat as you, but I definitely do plan on reading wealth of nations some day if that helps. hopefully after school when i have no more retarded required reading.

Reading Wealth of Nations is like reading Das Kapital. Sure, it's a historical text. But half of it is considered wrong by contemporary mainstream economics. So read it for the historical value, but pick up Economics by Paul Samuelson or some other textbook to understand economics.

>>>""""economics""""
literally all mystifying bullshit. pop psych at best.

Is Econ 101 anything more than that book with individuated lessons and dry language?

Read it so you can btfo neoliberals who think the book agrees with them.

>literally all mystifying bullshit. pop psych at best.

Sure, theoretical economics is like that. But apple economics is anything but.

t. unemployed econ major

this whole thread is embarrassing. my advice is stick to poetry and let everyone else decide how the world works for you

Basically, involuntary unemployment is a thing.

...

gibs me dats

He has some boring ass chapters about the value of money, corn and other shits

But the rest is pretty good

Just so everyone knows, NEVER order a book where the cover looks like that, with a generic image related to the text, the white stripe with the title in THAT exact font with the author title below. Cheap as shit. I ordered A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man like that, and it was pretty much like a printed out pdf bound together, and the cover picture was a low resolution jpg.

>he cover picture was a low resolution jpg
A E S T H E T I C

One of my favorites facts about Capital is that it only made it through the censor in the Russian Empire because they genuinely believed it was so boring that nobody would ever read it.

Basic Economics by Sowell is much better.

It's the redpill of economics.
