The Four Color Map Theorem

what

how much do you get paid to shill for n*mberphiles?

I can colour that map in four or less colours.

Four Colors.

Replace blue with red and you good boyo

Why does James look like 10 years older in still images than in videos?

dumbass

Is the proof of the four color theorem even useful? It doesn't generalize graph coloring optimization, it only tells you the limit of the chromatic number for planar graphs is 4.

...

just swap yellow and red in the middle and you can color the grey part yellow

...

what now punk

nice thumbnail
2nd ring:
green to yellow,
red to green
3rd ring:
yellow to red
red to green
green to yellow

...

Or: circle in the middle: red to green, swap with yellow.

really nigga

nvm, re-solving from scratch is easier

Faggots, all of you.

Shieeet you can take it down to 5. But point is you can't take it down to 4.

they're all supposed to be different countries.

In order to have 5 colors you have to have 5 shapes that touch all other 4 shapes. Start with an image that has all 4 shapes touching all other shapes. Then add a 5th shape to that image which does not block any other shape from another shape, yet touches all 4 other shapes. You don't even need colors for this.

>planar

So what. If we find one of those mystical torodial planets popsci faggots keep talking about then we wont be able to colour the map.

>planar

>torodial

That's basically like folding the paper to solve this puzzle.

...

...

Why can't all math be as fun as four color theorem?

can be done in three

it isn't fun

The four color theorem is decidedly UNFUN because of how shitty the proof is.

Also, coloring connected dots is graph theory.

lol That's not the color puzzle. You are supposed to draw a continuous line through all the walls without going through a wall twice and without crossing your own line. Kids usually fold the paper to do it, which is against the rules.

You don't color that one. You add a 5th shape to it that touches the 4 other shapes while allowing all other shapes to touch each other too.

It isn't math. You can use math, but there's no point, just do and you'll understand why.

You forgot to color a shape, but that isn't the point of that puzzle.

u got this from cmpt 140 didnt you
