There's a ton of resources on how to do it.

A basic way I did it was:
1. Go somewhere you can't easily get distracted
2. Don't bring shit unless you 100% need it to study/do whatever you need to do. So, leave behind your phone, and laptop if you can.
3. Set a hard time to do it. For some reason, It's a lot easier to do it when you say "I'm going to study from noon to 2 p.m." than "I'm going to study for 2 hours today"
4. Take little breaks while you're study. This varies from person to person. Some do 5 minutes per hour. Some do 5 per half hour. Experiment, and see what works for you.

Another thing is a lot of people get really distracted when they start studying, and get discouraged by it. I think that's more of a symptom of the age we live in now. It doesn't mean you're retarded, or hopeless. It means you spend too much time on Veeky Forums/reddit/your phone constantly searching for things to grab your attention. If you can handle going on those sites in small doses, then whatever. If not, cut 'em out for a while. It can't hurt to see what'll happen, and you're not gonna miss anything. It takes a while to correct itself.

I don't know, I'm procrastinating right this minute.

seconded, fuck Veeky Forums is seducing me men, my next schedule is I'm gonna go to /gif/ and /b/ and fap 4x

pop the Xans

How will xanax improve my laziness ?

I've noticed a few things over the years.

1) If you shitpost and work at the same desk, you'll tend to do the former rather than the latter. Your mind gets kind of an imprint in certain locations on what you tasks you should be doing. Bed - sleep, Bathroom - bathroom things, Kitchen - eatting, etc. A workdesk should strictly be a workdesk and NOTHING else. A trick here is get yourself a desk, or clean off your old one, and put a lamp there. When you're doing work on the desk, turn the lamp on, else turn it off. This will train you to just do work at the desk, and hopefully you can build the habit.

2) Get Veeky Forums. Not even memeing, you don't have to be Greek God level, but just get healthy. Cardio especially, low intensity shit like ellicital or bike. Healthy body is a step towards a healthy mind. Drink lots of water.

3) Take workloads in chunks. It's easy to get overwhelmed if you say "Oh jeeze, I have to study ALL of this for the test, whatever am I going to do?!" Then you panic and install a schedulers fallacy where you plan out everything but actually do nothing. Bite sized chunks and hour intervals followed by brief breaks of enjoyment is key.

4) Most of all, motivation. More than likely you actually can succeed but you're in a rut physiologically. You've got to snap out of it and convince yourself that change is for the better. Step 2 can help with this. Like mentioned, healthy body, healthy mind.

Hope that helps.

t. also trying to get on the right track.

Break the cicle, go to /lgbt/.

There was a Veeky Forums guide for procrastination, does anybody have it?

What if he's bi?

Any bodybuilding routines ?
I only god a pull up bar and can do bodyweight exercises =/

like I said, you don't have to get chiselled, only healthy. As long as you work out a little bit more, eat a little less + healthier, and drink water you shouldn't be that bad. The Veeky Forums sticky isn't too bad with regards to this.

If some of this stuff has been said by other anons, it's because it's important.

> 1) Have a schedule. Dedicate yourself to making one, so you have a clear idea of what exactly it is you're going to work on.
> 2) Set time limits.
This is for when you're actually working, so you know how much time you have until you can take a break.
> 3) Take fucking breaks.
You need to rest after work, but make it brief.
Rest for about 5 minutes every hour, or whatever works for you.
In these breaks, don't think about work, and get away from your workspace.
> 4) Meditation helps.
Look up mindfulness. It'll help clear your mind, so you can eventually train it to stop getting sidetracked.
> 5) Work in a secluded environment, without any access to the internet unless it's actually needed.
> 6) Practice
Discipline is something that's built over time, and through practice. It'll benefit you in other areas too.

Follow all these steps. If you miss one out, you're never gonna make it.

>When you don't believe the thoughts that cause you to procrastinate, you won't procrastinate.

But obviously these thoughts can often be quite subtle, and often there are more subtle thoughts telling us not to introspect. It may require some doing at first, but after a while it becomes second nature.

Also for me personally, there are two things that help me to not procrastinate:
>The pleasure of knowing you're doing the right thing
>Doing it doesn't undermines the possibility of procrastination; the thought "I won't do this right now" or "I will do this later" simply doesn't apply when you're doing your work. It'd be like thinking "I am wet" when you're not. Even if that thought did enter your mind, it wouldn't have any repercussions because it wouldn't make any sense.

That's good enough.

Oh yeah also I like to go to the library because then I'm likely to just do work and then fuck around when I get back home.

lift heavy and take multi isn't all that difficult.
most people here go to uni and the gym is included in their tuition right?

If I knew how to stop I would. Veeky Forums really is my biggest problem, I don't even enjoy wasting my time in any other ways.

I've been smoking cigarettes for two hours now with my biochemistry lecture in a different tab. It's hell, really.

Here's how you stop:
1) Close Veeky Forums
2) Open your fucking lecture
3) Get work done

If you can't do that, it's because you're relying on some external thing to make you do it. That's not gonna happen, and you have to stop being a pussy and do it yourself.

>mindfulness
Not a really good thing. When you constantly conscientious, it's a pain in the arse. The trick is about mentally numbing yourself, so you would be socially functional. It's pretty much the only way of surviving.
>Discipline is something that's built
Nope. You can "built" a set of habits, automatical thoughts, mindsets and behevioral patterns. You can't really built a discipline, just as you can't have an actual power of will. People with OCD are on average tremendously disciplined, and it is, in fact, a disability.
The worst thing about procrastination, is that people think it's "wrong" or "abnormal". It is a perfectly normal and natural way of reacting on your current environment. Just unefficient one.

If Veeky Forums is truely your achilles heel, here's how to fix it. You wont like it.

>Open router settings
>most routers have a website black list page
>be sure to ban Veeky Forums from the network (be sure to hit boards.Veeky Forums.org too, not just the homepage)
>apply changes
>test to be sure
>next, go to switch the router password
>change it to random giberish: aioeuraoe;rugnbaerg0423896y4ta
>copy paste that in as your password, be sure not to leave the password around

Now, you'll be locked out of your router unless you actually go and hard reset it. If you manage to find yourself at a point of NEEDING Veeky Forums so much as to actually hard reset, I'd focus on hard resting your life tb.qh

is it said pornography addiction which disrupts dopamine receptors i,e the reward system is likely the cause of procastination

you become
..tired
.....lazy
...........unmotivated
............... anxiety
................... obese
..... etc etc..

and thus u procastinate more because you given up on life, it's like coke, once you use it, u will not leave it anymore

Unless you have major depression disorder.

Are you me?

Biochemistry is dry as fuck. Very abstract and mostly just memorization. I always dread studying for it.

This is great advice
And I even want to elaborate on this one
>3. Set a hard time to do it. For some reason, It's a lot easier to do it when you say "I'm going to study from noon to 2 p.m." than "I'm going to study for 2 hours today"
This method works great for working on essays and long, unvaried projects that you super don't want to do. Just write down "I'm going to work on my history essay from 3pm-4pm on April 9th." Working on essays and long projects can begin to feel like you're falling into the abyss and intimidate you out of actually working on it. Give it a manageable couple of hours EARLY ON BEFORE IT'S DUE and you'll succeed.

Can you really cure procrastination once you fall into it? To procrastinate in the first place you need to have a mind that procrastinates.

I don't have any hard proof, but I wanna say that it can be fixed in a big way.

I think a lot of procrastination is just habits that most people have really deeply ingrained. It's probably possible to change most of them.

The biggest problem is that people try to change their whole life at once. It ends up being too hard to resist so much that's so routine, and they fail.

>How the fuck do i stop procrastinating ?

Stop paying your electric and internet bills. When the power goes out and you don't have internet, you'll get shit done.

>manic depressive disorder
Ftfy

Well it IS a higher level abstraction built on top of actual chemistry.

The fun thing about biochemistry is you learn a lot about nutrition

Use it to your advantage. Personally I work better when time is running short. We all work efficiently at a specific level of stress, so the idea is to burn off the extra time and leave only the necessary time to complete the assignment remaining. The trick is to not burn so much time that you leave yourself an unreasonable amount to complete the assignment.

Productivity drops off very steeply after your peak level of stress, so be cautious when using this method.

Everything is dry as fuck the further you dive into specifics. There's knowing the cool shit and then there's painstakingly going through pictures of steroid hormone synthesis to find which double bond is going away.

It's the only thing I enjoy though. Pretty hard to give it up.

You need some Jesus in your life.

Information from random people online won't help you. No matter how good the advice is that we give you, if you don't actually want to achieve your goals, you'll never actually do them.

You need to ask yourself, do you want to do your assignments in advance or do you want to wait? You need to decide, based on YOUR OWN reasoning, exactly what you want to do with your time. You will be naturally motivated if you honestly believe, and have affirmed through your own reasoning, that something is the right or wrong thing to do.

Alternate approach: go to /pol/ and start naming your unhealthy habits stuff like "the electric Jew" or "the carbonated Jew."

>How the fuck do i stop procrastinating ?
by beginning work and looking forward to it.
ask yourself: is what i am doing wasting my time or bringing me closer to the completion of this project i am on?

>This method works great for working on essays and long, unvaried projects that you super don't want to do. Just write down "I'm going to work on my history essay from 3pm-4pm on April 9th." i can attest to this.
>mfw my bio paper is half done and 1 month late.
>mfw i was looking forward to writing it.

Acquire new hobbies and interests.
What's so good about Veeky Forums?

Do you work even though you don't feel like working? Wouldn't that be unproductive?

This is what works for me.
I go almost daily to the local public library. Having no distractions it is much easier to concentrate

yes but I'm very insecure and I don't know shit about lifting. I'd probably just make an ass of myself in front of some qt[math]\int_{-1}^{1} \frac {dx}{\sqrt{1-x^2}}[/math] and have to suicide

percocets, molly percocets

At what point does looking at pron become an addiction?

When you jack off to avoid problems
stimulants
Try to avoid places where it is addicting to shitpost and argue with people anonymously.

If I want to get into guns for example I can literally click on /k/ and receive tons of information presented in a fun way. It's also where I get my news, it's convenient if you disregard the bias.

Actual hobbies take time, effort and having to socialize, all things which I would prefer to be able to cut short or access whenever I want. That said, I know you're right.

this is how i rationalized 7 hours of Veeky Forums today

I am fucked this weekend kek

>Alternate approach: go to /pol/ and start naming your unhealthy habits stuff like "the electric Jew" or "the carbonated Jew."

I already do this lol
