Download the cheat sheet and a template and start using it. The only way to really learn it is to use it.

Do your assignments in [eqn]\TeX[/eqn]. Just get a n editor and practice.

based

I want to fug [math]\LaTeX[/math]

Step 1.) Learn the basic syntax
>\ for a command
>Square brackets [ ] for additional options
>Curly brackets { } for operands
For example:
>\command [option] {operands}
Environments follow a similar syntax
>Start with \begin { something } end with \end { same something }

Step 2.) For anything else just google "how do I do X in Latex.

There you go.

Whatever happened to Josef?

just use google

Is this a latex thread? I want to use a hipster notation for summation but
[math]\underset{k=1}{\overset{\infty}{+}}[/math]
I can't find a way to make this plus sign bigger.

just practice. its dead simple.

if you want to know something throw it in google.

Use \sum, [eqn] \sum _{k=1} ^{ \infty } [/eqn] or if it means that much to you use \bigoplus [eqn] \bigoplus _{k=1} ^{ \infty } [/eqn]

I used it one time for this paper I tried to write. It ended up being embarrassingly shit so I started a blog (using HTML+other website languages) and posted my projects there.

like HTML, Latex is designed to attempt to figure out what you want it to do when you fuck it up.

It also seems one of the big advantages of latex is that teachers or publishers can distribute templates so you don't have to read through a multi-hundred page book about MLA formatting to write a decent paper.

Latex has a very simple compile->view PDF->edit->repeat system.

All of these make it very simple to just do it through googling any errors you get and trying different things

Don't do that.

...

pick a class and do all your assignments in latex for that class

Sit on the Veeky Forums reply [math]{T_E}^X[/math] editor for a few day makin up stuff

There's a lot of information about [math]\LaTeX{}[/math]
on the Veeky Forums's sticky, you should be able to read it first and then save the info that some anons are giving you and finally git gud with practice desu.

> $...$ for inline math

Please don't do this.

Download template, google everything you might want to do. Same as really any markup language or programming language. It's annoying at first, but after a while you know most of the shit. Until you actually want to do something more elaborate. I swear, TeX is a fucking shitty language if you want to do anything but text and formulas.

no?

why do you have a problem with it? mismatching delimiters? $$ breaks it? or what?

overleaf.com

Just like you do into proofs, writing shit down. Skip all stupid courses or books teaching you stuff. Every package should come with a manual, for example those diagram packages like tikzcd. Refer to them or google stuff up if you have problems.

Bitch you don't run my life.

[math]OP^{1} = faggot[/math]

tug.ctan.org/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-a4.pdf
this is your bible

Unless you're going to be writing long papers, just use LyX.
