Veeky Forums hates reddit because once upon a time this site produced original content and the founder stole it, spammed it all over reddit while having conversations with himself until finally the site hit a critical mass and had enough users to support itself.

It then became way more popular and now produces a lot of original content, some of which inevitably gets back here since this site doesn't produce anything new anymore.

I think the way of discussion there with downvoting is inherently shitty but the content is far better for anything worth reading.

hes got good camera skills and explains it in a video ad describing why he's doing this. much like this woman who is also a photographer with some hobbies. she was banned from the food subreddit because her stuff looked too good because she knows how to present and take shots. babbish is the same. he's got the training of a camera man and the connections and skills to make his shots look good, make the thing he's taking pictures of look good, and that results in a much prettier product that is attention grabbing in a way that chef john is just decent at. you can tell because chef john is very very focused on the food with all of his shots. He puts it front and center with huge detailed shots. Babbish takes wide angle shots that show the kitchen creating a professional look that gives your mind open space and allows you to focus on the food naturally.

they both take excellent shots but it's no surprise why babbish is rising in popularity. his content is not only good, but key words involving shows and topics results in more search results from people who probably weren't looking for food recipes exclusively, giving his videos broad searchable appeal in addition to their professional and fast paced photography.
