Favorite book covers thread.

This is one of my favorites, also a pretty solid edition.

peter mendelsund!

The letters about the censorship are interesting too. I own the edition in the OP along with the old Penguin edition with the water colour portrait of Joyce on the back just because it's a nice edition.

holy fuck this is real

>a pretty solid edition.
Tell that to anyone you want except me.

>Tell that to anyone you want except me.

This sounds like a line from a Steven Seagall movie

I didn't know that, thanks for the enlightenment.

minimalism

I don't know why I like this one so much. Seems kind of industrial I guess

they should have left the illustration instead of putting awful letters

Really, most Russian covers are Veeky Forums

dissapointing book, i really wanted to like it

What do you think of this one? I think i'll get this because i can't find the one you posted.

Nothing will ever surpass this

Likewise it was fun for the most part but annoying as fuck
Thats the one I had, the one I posted I saw in a shop several days ago and considered rebuying it

I have this edition. The binding is so fucking bad. I feel like i could crumple it up into a ball.

Everyman's or Modern's. Which one has the best quality?

>mfw I googled "illustrated platinum edition"

...

It gets worse.

How deep does the Rabbit Hole go?

...

Lel, try again plebs.

Here's a wonderful one: The Long Ships by Bengtsson

>tfw to smart for science

...

this is a stupid thread and you're stupid for making it

why do you own two editions of the same book? books aren't the type of thing where you like them you're supposed to get multiple copies like donuts or collectibles. you just need one to appreciate that work of art

>why the fuck do i own two copies

well we're a pretentious cuntmuffin aren't we

i'm not a fan and you should hate yourself for having bad taste

this is also bad

this is unironically good

big fan

i suggest sterilization

I'm not afraid to admit that this is actually a book I've purchased entirely for judging it its cover—good stuff user I bet you have an attractive sister

>pretending to speak korean in 2015

I like this image

...

...

This is the funniest one

Spoiler alert.

...

hey man no need to be rude.

I refuse to believe these are real

man_who_thought_hed_lost_all_hope.tiff

I thought it was just a meme. Sweet Jesus.

Oh no

And here in the text there are illustrations.
This one is Oedipus, I believe refusing to help his son, in Oedipus at Colonus, and has nothing to do with the Iliad.

...

...

I really like this penguin classic cover.
Had to Use this pic because the full cover art is to big for Veeky Forums to handle. Here's the hi resolution version.
images.penguinrandomhouse.com/cover/tif/9780143108245

Has anyone bought this for the meme?

Holy...

...

Bad day at the office, honey?

I want to learn nip just to get these patrician editions

that's a fucking sweet cover

decadent westerners only came up with the pride-themed covers which I'm ashamed to read in public

...

Ah yes, the famous scene where Stephen finally ascends the top of the alps and the view from which he paints his masterpiece

thats fantastic, where can I buy it?

How is Japanese cover design so consistently on point?

>implying he's not looking over a world of artistic possibilities
>taking things literally

it seems that you can remove the word "cover" and that question is still valid

what the fock this is just a shitty weeb ripoff of "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog"

I would buy this ironically and feel scammed anyway.

>Centennial edition of The Book Before Ulysses
>"Foreword by Karl Ovum Knausgaard"
kill it/him with fire

I don't speak Korean, I read Ubik in English and there are lots of cool bookcover art for Philip K. Dick in foreign releases that I've seen. This being one.

I never see Lanark in these threads.
Every edition has a bomb-ass cover.

Stand aside: most patrish genre fic coming through.

Why? It's just some shitty pun.

--Holy shit, you're right.

sweet

I really want a copy of this.

...

Everyman's Library, hands down.

Modern Library is no way near Everyman's Library in terms of quality and elegance, young blood. Gold/Everyman's Library.

What are your thoughts on Dreams of Amputation by Gary J. Shipley, sir?

Hello Mr. Shipley - or is it okay if I call you Gary?
The book was okay according to GoodReads reviews so we've decided to give you another go. Do something a bit more flashy, more appealing to large audiences. I mean, you only got 49 ratings on GoodReads after all

But have you actually read it or have you just judged it by its reviews and ratings?

>Rattles in swedish

sry wrong thread

You can't tell... but they're actually squatting.

We have a worthy successor to (non-Shakespear) Wordsworth.

Who am I kidding, not even Wordsworth is that bad - at least they are cheap*!

*and have at least a shred of decency and respect for the source material.

Finnish version of The Lord of the Rings.

...

This looks like one of those utter garbage Barnes and Noble collectibles.

That's exactly what it is

Wouldn't that just be the Kalevala then?

Not really. The Lord of the Rings certainly is influenced by Kalevala but the story is completely different. You also can't sing The Lord of the Rings.
