For the most part, I think the problem of porn relates to a symptom rather than a disease. I think that a society which wishes personal pleasure and gratification cannot help but be addicted to pornography, as it promises (and delivers) precisely that.

The point of a relationship is to give to another, rather than to receive for the self. Getting a gf will neither stop your porn addiction (I would just have to figure out what times my gf was out of the house so I could PMO, without being caught), nor would it help your relation to an other without seeing her as an entire being. If you do get a gf without addressing the underlying problems of your pornography issue, then I can guarantee that your relationship with her will fracture.

"Realistic expectations" in this case means that porn makes it more difficult for you to be prepared for the reality of sex being a social interaction involving intimacy with the other person and is best when mutual understanding can be used to best shape the act to both sides' desires.

Sex can still be aggressive, involve multiple women ;), etc. without being based upon wanting to live out a porn-fantasy.

I don't understand why you can't have both. This actually makes me think of when I watch porn most often: when I feel powerless and stressed about some impending doom that can't be averted. Porn is escapism, there is no challenge. Like most anime, television, film, and video games there is no real danger or risk of failure so we seek it out so that we don't need to face the despair that is our life.

The physical affects of porn are bogus and unfounded. Masturbating can be useful as a quick release of chemical imbalances. Reading shitty books is as virtuous as watching porn.

But I agree on your first point, I think porn can screw up people's lives in the same way that obsessing over anything can. I just think some people are particularly susceptible to the kind of escapism porn offers and it is not thought about enough.
