Does anyone know any good liberal book related chat rooms or forums? This board talks about interesting books, but I can't stand the pol tards and the alt right tards that come to this board, I want a more liberal crowd that won't hate you just for being who you are (and no it's not the same when liberals hate you retards, because we hate you because you're bigoted, not because of the way you're born. Fuck you). If anyone knows any lgbt, trans, gay book related chat rooms or forums that would be double plus good.

You could join the boards discord, we're all communists

Link please.

What has that got to do with liberalism?

...

>typical libtard blocks out any dissenting opinions

kek

Because KILL YOURSELF FAGGOT apparently counts as a conservative opinion. Not surprising.

Reddit

Not him but will you stop being a petulent child for one thread

HAHA /pol/ BTFO
NON PASARAN!

Baka Shinji

I'm a proud homosexual and love browsing Veeky Forums and I relish in the opportunity to shit on uppity fags like you

People I like talking to: far-rightists, commies, marxists, alt-right, libertardians, egoists, christians, muslims, literally everyone and anyone willing to have a good conversation
People who I bully: pussified faggy 21st century """left-wing""" liberals like OP who lack the empathy or intelligence to talk with anyone who doesn't adhere to their spooky dogmas

So you like talking to people who are full of bad ideas and hearing shitty opinions for the sake of not "sheltering yourself from differing opinions"?

I don't even know what you're trying to accomplish by posting this

I'm pretty gay and I don't mind /pol/. At least they have a sense of humor and some funny memes, unlike liberals who are about as much fun as a soviet commissar. Plus be honest, you hate all >straight white men even though that's the way they are born.

You strong spirited, big up
t. anarchist

Are you kidding?
This is one of the most liberal boards on Veeky Forums. At /pol/ we joke about you all being marxists and lefties.

>i'm homo
>pussified faggy
i don't get how obnoxious homos are always willing to throw themselves under the bus.

How can you tell if they are bad ideas unless you never give someone the opportunity to explain them? I was raised in a typical 21st century first world liberal home and had all these preconceived judgements on people with conservative opinions or who were religious or whatever, despite never actually investigating what they believed and why from their point of view, and a big growing process for me in my adolescence was questioning my basest beliefs and listening to people whose views I had previously considered - without basis - not only stupid, but evil.

I don't know what you expect to lose from occassionally talking to people with bad ideas or shitty opinions. If they are so bad and shitty, then you will be able to judge that for yourself and become more confident in your assessment of that kind of worldview. If not, then you will have learned something.

I try to ignore the left-right thing when it comes to reading authors, because it tends to encourage adopting a team-based loyalty mindset. If you won't read Celine because "ugh I wouldn't ever read something by a disgusting bigot" or won't read Guy Debord or Walter Benjamin because "based molyneux told me every Marxist has nothing of value to say"

Philosophically, you can argue for literally anything if you do it well enough.

>Veeky Forums is most intelligent board
>Veeky Forums is marxist
Really makes you think

...

COMMIES AREN'T LIBERALS REEEE

>most intelligent board
More like Veeky Forums likes to think it is the most intelligent board. As you would expect from marxists, they always think they are smarter than everyone else.

Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums are way more intelligent than the elitist pseudo-intellectuals here, who think that reading all of the classics makes you intelligent.

How is it the most intellugent board?
Also I might add I've many of the Veeky Forums marxists tend to live capitalistic but declare themselves marxists or sympathetic to certain ideals of marxism.

I've always found it funny as I myself a non marxist have taken part in strikes, boycotts, union works.....things you would typically see among adamant marxists and syndicalists.

>I don't know what you expect to lose from occassionally talking to people with bad ideas or shitty opinions. Because it's fucking exhausting and I have better things to do with my time than listen to rush limbaugh. Believe it or not I've explored the same line of thinking you're speaking right now, and I just got sick of all the libertarians I spent time talking to.

Also fuck molyneux, and I would read celine.

And btw, it's really sad how you call liberals "pussified", when it seems to show your contempt for people who express their gender in different ways, or seems to imply that masculinity is inherently better than femininity. It doesn't add up rationally, it throws fem or trans gays under the bus, and it comes off as sexist.

Can /pol/ PLEASE just fuck off for once?

Fucking jesus fucking nazi scum fucks

>fem or trans gays
fem gays or trans*
fixed my own mistake

>mods deleting any comment that isn't SJW tumblr-tier bullshit

Bravo mods bra-fucking-vo, can't even voice an opinion anymore on this shithole

>Veeky Forums is marxist
hold your horses

>double plus good.
Dude! Is this a reference to Orwell's 1984 that I just spotted? That's awesome, love that book. You know what they say, Big Brother is watching you!

Let me translate for us normal people:
"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

>it comes off as sexist.
Literally nothing wrong with this.

>the ones who misuse the terms liberal, libertarian and marxist itt are the ones who claim to be the most intelligent
really makes u think

>Literally nothing wrong with this.
We've established that you're not the sort of person I'd want to talk to about politics, and are probably a toxic person in general.

Jesuits were the first Marxists

>toxic
leave.

Kek, Rush Limbaugh. I wouldn't tell you go to and read Dawkins to get an intelligent approximation of the case for nonbelief, and similarly I wouldn't say listening to Rush Limbaugh would be a good use of your time if you wanted to listen to someone conservative.

Also I don't care about the pussified thing and patriarchy did nothing wrong. I'm not a big "muh ess jay double yous" fag but as long as there are people who intentionally neuter their intellectual capabilities by making themselves so deeply emotionally invested in shit like this to the point where they can get "really sad" over the use of words like pussified on fucking Veeky Forums, then it's in my self-interest to defy the self-destructive language policing at every turn. This sort of insular, "cater to me at every turn because it's morally evil not to" behaviour is not good for you.

>And btw, it's really sad how you call liberals "pussified", when it seems to show your contempt for people who express their gender in different ways, or seems to imply that masculinity is inherently better than femininity. What are you doing on Veeky Forums? You don't belong here. You probably don't belong anywhere, that's the problem I guess. The world must be a scary place for someone so easily offended, you would think that being a homosexual would teach you to grow a thick skin but no, you start acting like an indignant schoolmarm at the slightest provocation.

How so. I never really studied into the Jesuits but I understand that some catholic organizations and thinkers had some proto marxist thought. Eg. Thomas More's Utopia. Good book and kinda felt like a manifesto or at least an instruction manual for proto socialists. The book kinda drew me away from full socialist thought.

>Also I might add I've many of the Veeky Forums marxists tend to live capitalistic

Unless you live as an outsider in the woods, which is illegal in most countries, there's no way to not live capitalistic. And yes, marxists that always have the newest iphone are silly but binding your ideas to your personal behaviour is ultimately, as zizek would say, a piece of controlling ideology that neuters ideas. Just because I don't recycle everything and live like a fucking tree hugging hippie doesn't mean I can't plead for laws regarding more environmental protection.

If you've ever listened to richard dawkins talk about memes and thought viruses, it's actually pretty interesting. An idea does form a physical structure inside of your brain because of the wiring. So when you fill your head with different ideas, there are actually some ideas that are destructive, hence why donald trump won the election when a lot of the time he was just flat out lying to people, or giving them simple platitudes that stuck well in their head - memes that caught on well because they were easily digested by a lot of ignorant voters.

I know when I encounter opinions that are really stupid, sometimes it physically hurts my head to think about. You probably could think of thoughts as viruses, and I think that it's also sort of an axiom that whoever you spend your time around could also reflect your mood and behavior. If you surround yourself with, for example, negative people, you may feel more negative in general. If you surround yourself with intolerant people, you may either become exhausted because your mind is physically fighting off those thoughts like a virus, or you may become like those people.

There's a place for philosophical engagement, but I believe that should be separate from your general, day to day interactions. If you want to have a philosophical debate, the place to do it is not in the facebook comment sections. It's good to have some debates from time to time with people who don't identify with your philosophically, because otherwise no one would ever hear about different opinions or learn what the people who they hear about are actually like. But people should have their own safe space, their own comfortable zone where they can just relax and not have to worry about bullshit. There, I said it.

Look up "Liberation Theology"

You could make the argument that the Catholic trinity gave birth to Hegel's concept of dialectics which formed for the basis of Marx' philosophy, it's a bit far fetched though.

Another user but I looked it up on Wiki and it seems to be a 20th century movement ie. not pre-dating Marx?

I hate to tell you this, but ideology is controlling you far more than you're aware of

Become aware of it and hearing differing opinions will become enjoyable

Liberation Theology is derived from marxism, not the other way around.

haha 8 years faggot ahahaha

No, that's not actually what I said. Please shut the fuck up and stop talking now.

That's why I read and talk about philosophy and politics on Veeky Forums or in books and not on Facebook, amigo.
I actually uh, have OCD so I'm well aware of the infectious nature of thoughts because lots of cultural memes get stuck in my head and torment me and make me really anxious every day. Even stupid shit like, I feel like I'll be supernaturally punished for breaking some minor infraction in some scenario because it resembles a typical moralising short story written by people like Stephen King or something. Interestingly I tend to find /pol/ memes less stressful and less invasive than I do ones associated more with contemporary progressives. The sensation that I feel, at least, is that there is a very callous, morally self-assured subdued cruelty underlying a lot of that ideology, and that really spooks me. /pol/ is too fun, and populated by people of so many walks of life who are open to many different kinds of experiences (par the course, since it's sort of counter-cultural), to be oppressive in that way. I imagine that maybe if I had lived in the 19th century, I would be feeling this way about Victorian attitudes to my homosexuality.

Veeky Forums shouldn't be a "safe space", it's a board for discussing literature on Veeky Forums. It should be able to be completely unfiltered. It unironically sounds like r3dd1t would be a more accomodating place for OP's desires.

also this It's so relaxing to not feel "infringed" upon by hearing other people's opinions anymore, even if they are the diametric opposite of yours.

I'm not criticizing. I'm just stating an observation. I understand the need to work within a system even if you don't agree with the way the system functions. Some of it does come of as silly. I had an experiance with an anarcho-Communist who was hoping for legislation to pass laws that he wanted. When I started to question him and ask as to why someone who does not agree with the idea of government or agree with it's ability to influence and exercise control over its populace how can you support legislation which would give the government an even broader range of control over the populace.

Just little things I notice.

So it interprets Jesus's ideas of benevolence towards the less fortunate as being a god given social mission?

Luke 1:52–53
β€œHe has brought down rulers from their thrones / but has lifted up the humble. / He has filled the hungry with good things / but has sent the rich away empty.”

I can see the appeal towards liberal Christians in developing countries or in developed countries but in an environment of economic stagnation or failure.

>he believes in the sociological definition of 'gender' dreamed up in the '60s by a sociopathic child molester as a fact
>he actually adjusts his behaviour and ideals around this baseless belief

Oh and one more thing to add on.
My OCD is my problem alone. The world shouldn't have to cater me, and if it did it would actually be more detrimental to my mental health. Stephen King shouldn't stop writing stories just because I get unironically 'triggered' when I see his name sometimes because of the associatons my OCD makes. He should stop writing because he's not very good at it ;)

I'm stealing that runescape Varg >:^)

Have another, my friend. This one, I think, suits the thread well.

Thanks lad

>So it interprets Jesus's ideas of benevolence towards the less fortunate as being a god given social mission?
I'm not very well read on the subject, but I think it's meant to be kind of a new focus on the systemic causes of poverty, as opposed to only treating the effects of poverty through personal benevolence and charity, the latter of which would be the more commonplace interpretation and implementation of the christian social cause.

>I can see the appeal towards liberal Christians in developing countries or in developed countries but in an environment of economic stagnation or failure.
Also, yes, as far as I know it's predominantly a latin american phenomenon.

>Latin Americans get fucked over by their government and local leaders
>turn to religion for morals and charity

>by their government and local leaders

No, the religion became political.

Are you implying South American leaders aren't at fault?

I have quite a few Brazilian friends in the political science/economic field who twll me about the nightmare that is South American beaurocracy.

Don't associate the modern Achilles with your effeminate faggot shit.

There are definitely self-perpetuating tendencies in place, but I think history makes it very clear what has happened up until recently when attempts at radical change were made.

Hmm, feminine boys.

i wish i had a shinji bf
>tfw almost ruined evangelion for myself when i stumbled across some tumblr page on google writing some shit about how evil shitlord anime fans try to "erase" homosexual identities by questioning if shinji is gay

The only escape from the reactionary movement is to stop being a filthy degenerate.

holy shit you're a butthurt faggot

>can i have a liberal forum that censors people
no. learn how to use words

They sound like they're right though.

>Does anyone know any good liberal book related chat rooms or forums?
> but I can't stand the pol tards and the alt right tards that come to this board
>I want a more liberal crowd that won't hate you just for being who you are

good, get the fuck off this board you fucking twink.

we don't want you here either

I'm pretending that's a tomboy with secretly sizable ta-ta-s

I prefer the fact that Evangelion is relatable without politicizing it. The homogay shit is like, something that resonates with me personally, as pure experience, but systemising it would detract from it.

>I have better things to do with my time
obviously not if you're wasting your life on a shit hole like Veeky Forums

OP is out of luck. I can't think of a single genuinely "liberal" imageboard. Leftypol certainly isn't.

Reddit. Now leave.

Why are you even on Veeky Forums? Go to tumblr or reddit if you can't handle ideas that run counter to your programming.

you piece of shit psuedes don't understand that necessity of the ridiculous noise-signal ratio on Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums at large.
because no one can easily distinguish serious discussion from trolling, it forces you to form your own opinion and check your own facts.
if that task is to difficult for you, and you need a chorus to spoon feed you a properly aligned narrative of how to deal with the world, you don't belong here and are not much more than a useful idiot.

>masturbates to girls repeatedly
>gay
>b-b-but he blushes when near a boy who has agape for him
Fuck off sodomites.

>denying the biological basis of gender
Brainwashed retard.

You want to shield yourself from opposing views because yours make no sense and are indefensible.

he has sexual fantasies about grils but love for boy

Lolcow is feminist I think

As a Guardian reader, I enjoyed this image.

>considering certain ideas is bad! I refuse to do that!
Good goyim! Wrongthink averted!

Point?

>some ideas are destructive
>thoights are like viruses
>people should have their own safe space
This is fucking 1984-tier

>People who I bully

Shouldn't it be 'whom'?

Fucking this. The newfag janitors are trying to turn this place into reddit. Better start learning how to ban-evade.

this has to be b8

In any case, it shouldn't be deleted on Veeky Forums.

This. It's propaganda, pure and simple.

Try tumblr you mentally ill fuck

I'd go as far to say none of this is even Veeky Forums related. Go on /lgbt/ and start a thread about trans books and get out of Veeky Forums

This is depressingly correct.

Best web comic on the net

So mods delete a conservative book thread but leave this up? Come on now.

gets confirm

mods are all faggots with agendas to carry out.

How is this thread breaking any rules? Stop whining about everything you're afraid of

Mods have also been strangling /pol/ with excessive moderation (ie deleting Safety Squad and comic editing threads even though they don't break the rules). The endgame is to turn every board into /co/.

It's not literature related and it's off-topic. You fucking faggots whine at the mods to delete edgy frogposts but turn around and say this thread doesn't violate the rules. They obviously have an agenda.
