publix is fine for the essentials. i get good eggs, milk, chicken and grains from there. decent wine selection.

but whole foods/fresh market have way better meat for pretty much the same price. and their butchers actually work in front of you and know sort of what they're talking about. better beer selection. their produce is usually more expensive, but they have a wider selection if you're into that sort of thing.

I like going to Publix for their frozen Jacks pizza and Stouffers mac n cheese. I also shop at Dollar General and they have Stouffers mac n cheese also but it's over $4 for the one person tiny serving for some reason.

Deli is the worst department to work in. Produce is the best and most laid back. Customer service is pretty bad too. Meat department pays the best.

Yooo our deli is full of foreigners who shit up the break room with fish stank and curry. They also sell you flies in the food and get mad when you ask for a refund. They generally have a bad attitude and always get 1 star reviews.

their employees are literally required to ask you if you need help basically any time you pass by one (and there are always a lot of roamers at the one near me). they also seem to have not as good of a selection of certain things for some reason.

they do have a good selection of pre made shit though (sandwiches, etc.), so if you like that kind of thing its probably worth putting up with the annoying employees

what's the argument against wal mart if your alternatives are publix and whole foods? those aint mom and pop local shops.

If you are looking for specialty items that are not too obscure, Publix will have them at a cheaper price. Since they pay a bit more then Wal-Mart, the employees are more likely to direct you to the correct location.

Really, though, it is their pre-made items that are key. For a grocery chain and for most regional chains, they make the best pre-made products.

Used to work at a grocery store, they are likely required to do this at publix but any grocery store bagger more than wants to take your bags to your car. Why? 1, People tip sometimes, which is wierd but hey, and 2, most important. YOU GET TO GO OUTSIDE

The Whole Foods near me doesn't even stock USDA prime beef tenderloin, and their house brand (365 or whatever) is trash. Meanwhile, Wegman's is fucking sick and their house brand is cheap and delicious.
