How are the PhD prospects in Math and Physics in the USA? I'm a third-worlder (Brazil) and I want to escape from this shithole. I'm also a semi degenerate gambler and my income comes mainly from poker, backgammon, pool, bridge and sports betting. So it would be pretty cool to work in something related to statistics/probability and game theory (or thepretical physics) . As a third-worlder it is easier for me to join in a PhD program in Math or Physics in America? And which PhD offers better prospect AFTER its conclusion?
P.S.: what are some good universities close to Las Vegas and Atlantic City?

There is no really good uni near Las Vegas, the closest thing you'll get is University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Near Atlantic City is UPenn and Princeton however I doubt you'd be able to get in to those simply because thats absurdly hard. Lower unis that are pretty close to Atlantic City are Rutgers-NB, Villanova, and University of Delaware, which all range from 1-2 hours from Atlantic City. Atlantic City has no good unis really right next to it but its proximity to Philly and NYC remedy that slightly.

guess i'd recommend michigan, it's a strong school and there's quite a few casinos within a couple hours drive each way
and of course california is known for its many cardrooms, backgammon lounges, etc. and obviously several well known schools.
might be able to find something in dc/maryland/delaware area has quite a few cardrooms now too and some ivy leagues a couple hrs away.

Too many people, not enough academic jobs. It becomes hard to get on track to getting a tenure track job without the right connections etc.
If you just want to escape Brazil and go to industry afterward, you of course have many more options.

Guys, my priority is GOING to the USA. I fucking love gambling AND academic research, and the USA has the best of both worlds. I don't need to go to a top 10 university. I want a green card and I've heard there are many third-worlders (Indians, Chineses, etc) doing PhD research in the USA cause many American middle class students don't find appealing a 20k-30k income but that'ts a shitload of money for a third-worlder like me. I have to escape this shithole called Northeast of Brazil. The violence and poverty and lack of structure is something unbelievable. I'm a white guy and I have a Italian surname so I think I can at least pass as an European immigrant.

In that case just apply to wherever you want. Even if you don't get into a top school you are at least out of Brazil and can get an okay industry job afterward. Just make sure you learn some programming skills during your PhD.

You don't need an academic job my guy. Assuming you're not a faker and actually have some level of skill and talent in math, and Math PhD can get you places. Could you achieve the same with maybe a masters? Maybe, but you don't need to be top 5 for this type of things.
