Gilberto Owen is one of our best poets, quite modernist but thoroughly enjoyable. Salvador Elizondo is also a great novelist and critic, greatle influenced by Joyce and Pound; he translated some of Finnwgans Wake. Rosario Castellanos is the Mexican female writer per excellence.
