The Gulag Archipelago

Just finished the book. Holy shit, discuss? Some haunting shit in here, Solzhenitsyn is a genius

>guy who defected to the nazis makes anti-communist propaganda

wow no way what a fucking masterwork

Holy shit. Totally opened my eyes to the dangers of libcucks. I want more

What's the novel on leftist academics visiting the soviet union to ogle while their counterpart where in Gulags?

Post more gulag sketches and with translated hieroglyphs.

>be in gulag
>get ant funnel in vagina

God damn fucking commies and leftists.

>pretending to read a book to score political points

Kill yourself pseud

>implying communism isn't self-evidently terrible

Did you know that book was banned in soviet union?

Apparently Spaski entered the country with a copy of this book from his rejkjavyik match with Fisher. Book was confiscated. I have no source to back it tho.

I've been planning to read it, but is it well written? I am already anti-communist so propaganda doesnt really affects me

We now have a
>Spencer thread
>Nazi thread
>anarchism thread
>Milo thread
>Gulag Archi thread
>Molyneux thread
>Sam Harris thread

reddit sure have taken over :^)

Really makes you think

>le really makes you think meme

everyone on Veeky Forums should be killed

>anti-communist ignores for the 500th time that The states run by the communist parties in Russia, Cuba, etc. were intended to facilitate the development of Communism and were not actually communist ("communist state" is in itself meaningless because communism is by definition stateless)

No True Scotsman

Try harder next. While you're at it get on your knees alongside your leftist parties and suck on my neoliberal piggy cock. Who knows, you might get a couple refugees out of me ;)

I had to read it for my poly sci class, so having a professor with me to help explain was great, but it isn't too hard of a book to read, has some translation annotations too

No True Scotsman only applies to people who describe themselves as Scotsmen. Likewise the "No True Communism" only applies to states that call themselves Communist (which, as I said, is impossible because communism is a post-state society

The USSR made it quite clear that they were not a communist society but a socialist state intended to lead people into communism.

>While you're at it get on your knees alongside your leftist parties and suck on my neoliberal piggy cock. Who knows, you might get a couple refugees out of me ;)
Are you trying to call me a Hillary Shill or something? Because you should know I actively fought against her campaign.

>Are you trying to call me a Hillary Shill or something? Because you should know I actively fought against her campaign.
No you dumb subhuman I'm just happily pointing out that all leftist parties nowadays are just capitalist piggies

>all leftist parties nowadays are just capitalist piggies
But this is patently untrue. Why would you say something that's not true?

>"I’m… an English, French, American, Japanese, Italian, German and maybe some other spy as well…"

Reminder that whether the USSR self-identified as Communist or Socialist is besides the point, as it failed to bring about either effectively, due to the inherent flaws in the Labor Theory of Value and whatever Marx called it when all humans discard personal desires for the good of the Soviet.

Read

>Enemy at the Gates
>Crippled America
>Mein Kampf
>Evola's wikipedia page

next my /pol/ack friend ;)

>Reminder that whether the USSR self-identified as Communist or Socialist is besides the point
Really? Because it seems to be the main point here. The USSR is often pointed to as a representation of the "failure of communism" when it explicitly described itself as not a communist society and, indeed, it cannot be described as communism because communism does not involve a state.

This is like talking to a brick wall.

>as it failed to bring about either effectively
What do you define as a "success" and a "failure" of socialist policy?

>Marx called it when all humans discard personal desires for the good of the Soviet.
Marx wasn't even alive to see the Soviet Union. Are you aware of that?

It's so weird that all of the attempts to create communism have become not communism. Pretty good evidence it's a shitty, impracticable idea if you ask me!

>anyone who is seriously anti-communist is a nazi
It's always limp-wristed nu-males that make this claim

>Reminder that whether the USSR self-identified as Communist or Socialist is besides the point, as it failed to bring about either effectively, due to the inherent flaws in the Labor Theory of Value
Is this a new meme or something?

But user, he actually was.
Besides SJWs calling /pol/ nazis are right.

Actively spreading anti-communist propaganda within the Soviet Union during the 40s was *literally* the same thing as aiding the nazis though

>reading anti-communist propaganda
>being this classcucked

he was at the very least anti-semetic, also from wikipedia:
>Petrovsky notes that Solzhenitsyn claims that Jews promoted alcoholism among the peasantry, flooded retail trade with contraband, "strangled" the Russian merchant class in Moscow (pp. 39–41, 47). According to Solzhenitsyn, Jews are non-producing people ("нeпpoизвoдитeльный нapoд" (pp. 52, 59), they refuse to engage in factory labor (c. 244–245). They are averse to agriculture and unwilling to till the land either in Russia, in Argentina, or in Palestine (pp. 73, 76, 157, 256, 258, 267–268), and the author blames Jews' own behavior for pogroms (pp. 210, 483, 120). Solzhenitsyn claims further that Jews used Kabbalah to tempt Russians into heresy (p. 20), they seduced Russians with rationalism and fashion (p. 21), provoked sectarianism and weakened the financial system (p. 70), committed murders on the orders of qahal authorities (p. 87), and exerted undue influence on the prerevolutionary government (p. 57).

I've never felt that dissident was a particularly apt title for Solzhenitsyn who was given a jail sentence for criticising orders and inciting disaffection in wartime (an offence for which he could have been shot in the British Army)

The most obvious problem in discussions about communism is to confound the vicious and totalitarian soviet and north korean governments with the welfare state, the democratic state who presents a series of social agendas to help to dissolve inequality and balm the poor. To conect the welfare social state with soviet-like communism is a coward and low form of propaganda.

At first I though I was reading about the Industrial Revolution. Then I realized it was only the assholes and weirdos who suffered, instead of the unlucky.

>The USSR made it quite clear that they were not a communist society but a socialist state intended to lead people into communism.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his deeds."

It's too bad that those that are disenfranchised will resent those that are in power. Ie peasants vs farmers. They will seek equality of outcome even though on an individual basis the outcome is has dependent variables like skill and intellect.

>guy who defected to the nazis

Did he defect before or after the soviets allied themselves with the nazis?

>communism is terrible

I'm so shocked!

Baltic states hated both the communists and the nazis.

le gulag archipelago

le 10s of millions died anecdotal evidence

wow really makes one think
