What should I read as an intro to Catholic thought? I've been around mostly Protestants and Jews my whole life. Is there a specific Bible I should buy?
Reading Foucault's Pendulum, I have to say this.
I have this one and it's excellent
Dickens, Wordsworth, Sterne, Rossetti...
They've got some good ones.
Introduction to Christianity by Joseph Ratzinger is the best place to start. From there it's hard to give out recommendations because there's a lot of different ones doing different things. Philosophy, theology, mysticism, literature etc.
After that I'd most likely go with Confessions by st Augustine and Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempen.
Buddhism - or possibly Hinduism.

Catholics use icons too, friend.
The Buddhist canon is more than eleven times greater in size than the Christian Bible.
A portion of it would be linked, but a full-chan link would not be permitted.

Orthodoxy! Hail to the one true faith!
Orthodox are Catholic. You're conflating the Roman rite with all of Catholicism.
Don't be obtuse. When people say "Catholic" they generally mean the churches in communion with the Pope.
> Orthodox are Catholic
I know a couple million people who disagree with you.
For real, they are a lot closer than some Christian traditions but that they have serious differences. Besides not being in communion with each other (kind of a big deal in Christendom), they have major cultural differences.
Name a single great work written by an atheist.
