"Gloom and solemnity are entirely out of place in even the most rigorous study of an art originally intended to make glad the heart of man." – Ezra Pound

yes. literally tons.

mein Tagebuch desu

if he really ever said this its a load of shit

literature is supposed to explore and try to explain the human condition, which is shitty and gloomy

Notes from Underground or No Longer Human should do the trick

>the human condition
meme

:^)

>assigning value judgements to life
It's probably only your life that's shitty, and you project that onto everyone else.

...

Mason & Dixon's very moving at times, but for the most part it feels like an 18th-century buddy comedy. Very uplifting, very light-hearted.

I havent understood it have I

dont do this btw if you dont wanna get sad

>literature is supposed to explore and try to explain the human condition
source?

Not a whole lot of contemporary/twentieth century stuff, but lots of the classics are full of joy and life. Try the Canterbury Tales, the Decameron, Orlando Furioso, Gargantua and Pantagruel, The Charterhouse of Parma, etc., etc. Pro-tip: avoid Slavic and Protestant literature if you don't want to kys.

try the Celine novel Journey to the End of the Night

I found it very uplifting.

Stoner made me feel better about stuff

This may be the book series for you.

frigg off cyrus

The human condition is suffering. Accept your own geworfenheit and advance to übermenschhood

Try the tartar Steppe by Dino buzzati

that is a horrible painting

Some stuff by Kipling has me lol'ing.

>mfw a pleb reads for enjoyment near me.

Memeing aside, those books are the best children's books of all time.

Kipling is absolutely great and should have been regarded the favourite poet of /pol/ if these dumbfucks were to read poetry.
