Is this actually plausible? Why would going back in time cancel the effect of gravity?

Is this actually plausible? Why would going back in time cancel the effect of gravity?

>criticizing movie logic
Holy fuck you insuferable popsci bastard literally go neck yourself.

IT IS ALREADY A FUCKING MOVIE. JUST IMAGINE THAT DOC ACTUALLY HAS A COMPUTER IN THE CAR THAT CAN DO A PERFECT SIMULATION OF THE ROTATION OF THE EARTH (WHICH IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE IN REAL LIFE) AND WHENEVER YOU TRAVEL IN TIME IT JUST IMMEDIATELY PREDICTS THE POSITION OF THE EARTH AT THAT TIME AND THEN PUTS YOU IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

Seriously holy fuck. I bet you retweeted all those Neil Smoke Da Grass Tyson tweets that time huh? Please kill yourself. If there is any kind of human we could do without, it is you. And if you have friends who are like you then please go out a la Columbine and fucking kill every one of your friends. And if you know anyone else that is like you then murder them too, and then put a bullet on the left of your head and be sure that it goes out through the right side of your brain destroying what was once your brain, turning into a now even more useless mass of bullshit.

>bait this bad

this but chill

Calm down bro, it was just a joke. IT WAS ONLY A JOKE BRO.

It was only a prank... bro?

HOW DID IT END UP LIKE THIS

Neil, is that you nigga?

GONE SEXUAL

>IT IS ALREADY A FUCKING MOVIE. >Being this shit at reading comprehension.

It's not looking good, user.

Whoops. This response ( ) was for you.

I would not have expected this level of retardation from /sci./ I am disappointed.

Depends on what reference frame you choose. It isn't canceling the effect of gravity, it is saying "20 years ago the earth was in a different location in space that it is now, so you get put at the location earth was 20 years ago". As in, as the earth orbits the sun and the sun orbits the milkey way, time moves us to a new part of space we have never been to before. How much depends on what reference frame you pick.

If reference frame is sun, then 20 orbits ago (give or take depending on what kind of year you use for your definition).

If your reference frame is center of milkey way, then we end up 20 years ago in the solar system's orbit around the milkey way.

If your reference frame is center of local cluster, or Andromeda galaxy, or some other star, then we move back 20 years with respect to that.

Obviously the movie uses the point of departure as the point of reference, so it doesn't displace in 3D location, on in time.

Calm your tits, woman.
Let me rephrase that.
>Neil deGrasse Tyson, is that thou, fellow descendant of the African continent?

Happy?

Gravity doesn't exist. It's an unproven theory.

>Why would going back in time cancel the effect of gravity?
>cancel the effect of gravity?

That subtle troll. The tasteful thickness of it.

cringe

>Depends on what reference frame you choose.
THIS
Real time machines have to have the same portal at each end of the time trip.
Let's not pretend there's a single frame of reference that's magically better than all the other frames of reference.

*dabs*

SLAAAAAMIN

Found the nig.

>movie has a glaring plot hole

>it's okay because it's a movie

aren't obvious plot holes generally considered a bad thing?

Wait, are we really all going to get pissy about scientific plausibility in a movie about a time traveling DeLorean?

>Guys, how the Hell would Sauron actually put his power into a ring?
>Guys, how can they make a movie called "Ghost" if ghosts aren't real?
>Guys, why do the just make up stuff that isn't real in fantasy movies?

>aren't obvious plot holes generally considered a bad thing?
Yes, They are also ubiquitous. Deal with it.

So why is the car sitting still space, but not time? What is it sitting still with reference too?

Fucking this about it just being a movie

>real time machines
You feeling ok user?

>glaring plothole
such as?
the comic assumes there is some universal reference frame for both space and time-which is wrong.
the reference frame for time is obviously earth, why wouldn't the reference frame for space also be earth?
