Why are people turning science into religion/philosophy?

>muh simulation
>muh AI
>muh quantum immortality
>muh consciousness
>muh parallel universes where im rich
All of this (among many other) pseudo-scientific concepts were almost unheard of until a mere 10 years ago. Everything about the world has become [math]shit[/math] in the last decade, and science (or should I say: ""science"") is no exception. All of these concepts (among similar others I didn't mention) are unfalsifiable, they are not subject to the scientific method and are discussed in 99% of the time by pop-sci YouTube channels and their followers who don't understand fucking Calculus and yet feel entitled to talk about Theorical Physics as know-it-alls. Discussing things like "quantum immortality" and "simulation theory" is no different than religion or philosophy. On top of it all, it drives people who actually are interested in [math]real[/math] science away from academia, because it's so full of pseudo-intellectual "what if"s and completely out of touch with reality models that cannot be even possibly tested. Just stop giving people hope their stupid lives are worth anything in this shit Universe and accept that for yourself too.

Ironically enough, your thread is more philosophy than science, which makes you a pseudo-intellectual

>latexing plaintext

This is why you have to spend all your time working, so you can get into an elite PhD program where the scientists are actual level-headed, well-rounded professionals. Obviously if you hang out in the sewer of the internet and the second-rate cow colleges of the university system you're not going to be in good company.

lol, never ever use latex like that, it's annoying.
And as it was said before, most of those terms were not invented by real scientists and academics; those "pop scientists" are the ones discrediting the real science. There is also the fact that many new discoveries are getting misinterpreted or misunderstood by the sci-magazines.

Could someone tell me what's wrong with simulation theory?

People need religion and with the communist ideology dying (while also killing existing religions) someone has to fill the hole. Can't run on celebrities alone.

Because man is a religious animal. A need for ritual is inborn in every human animal. People don't abandon religion, they change change religions.

It is unfalsifiable by nature, has no actual proof. There are much less assumptions to say that the reality we observe is reality.

Congratulations to growing up! Welcome to the dull adult world where everything sucks and your hormones don't prevent you from glorifying stuff you don't understand.

Who is this cute cartoon

It is wrong.

Blame Philosophers

If quantum immortality is correct, quantum car rides should be also.
A quantum car ride is a car ride where your gas never runs out because of strange quantum magic. You keep driving forever or until you die because you're so mystified by the ride that you can't stop driving.

Of course if we combine the concept of a quantum car ride and quantum immortality, we end up with an quantum immortal driver who will keep driving around the world until the sun absorbs the earth, assuming quantum magic can't teleport him across the universe to another planet where the quantum immortal driver can keep driving.

You fucked yo including conciousess AI and philsophy in your post. If you hadn't I may have not identified you as a brainlet right away and would have continued reading

As little articulates as this man is, he has some valid points. You fucked yo!

I still have no idea how up ended up as yo

Because theists and atheists and agnostics arent so different after all

science is an axiomatic viewpoint of the universe which uses explicit measurement to define “truth”.

> [math]not \ latexing \ plaintext[/math]

What are the axioms?

But thinking AI is a very real thing being developed. Also how the fuck is Consciousness a philosophy?

>AI
How is that unfalsifiable you humongous retard? We already know that you can build an intelligent machine out of matter (it's called the human brain), so it's not that outlandish to imagine that one day similar intelligent algorithms can be run on silicon based hardware. Its implication (AIs becoming vastly smarter than us) comes pretty straightforward, considering you can't overclock the human brain, or otherwise modify it, but you can run your algorithm on a 100 times more powerful supercomputer, and you can improve the code.
>consciousness
It's fucking verified you retard, you have one too. And if you think it's not worth investigating how we have subjective experiences then you're short-sighted as fuck.
>simulation
The most popular version posited by Nick Bostrom is technically falsifiable, it just can't be verified, i.e. you can never discard the null hypothesis, which is that you don't live in a simulation. The retards who take it as a proven thing even though it relies on some huge assumptions are annoying tho.
>the rest
You are just complaining about normies being normies. Pop-sci has always attracted the worst kind of pseudo-intellectuals, it's not like it would be any better if they talked about legitimate scientific concepts like black holes or electricity. Hearing some autist talk about how volts don't kill, but amps do, is just as infuriating as hearing them talk about quantum skeletons.

move 1 left on the keyboard

>not latexing plaintext not latexing plaintext
how is this effect achieved?

no different from any other unfounded theology

OP has know fucking idea what philosophy is. To categorize it with religion in contrast to science while speaking metaphysically is so illiterate it hurts to read.

>Implying interpretations of empirical data must be immediately testable to be scientifically respectable...
>Implying there aren't solid reasons based on empirical data to claim our reality is indeed simulated...
>Implying simulations aren't real...
fuckin plebes man

Philosophy isn't for psuedointellectuals, they just happen to flock to it because it's easier to seem good at philosophy than fake competence in math or science.

Like it or not, implicit philosophical assumptions about logic and reality lay at the foundation of how we think about math and science.

Stay butt-hurt philosophers. You are angry at science because while Tom "Math PhD" Fischer makes 300k while you could only barely get a job as a HS philosophy teacher.
Philosophy isn't a science, get the fuck out of this board.
