Well for one thing, the vast majority of people have never and will never eat toads or reptiles as a point of reference, and secondly because most people have had things like fried popcorn chicken or popcorn shrimp, which they seem to resemble at the very least and based off of at the most

Depends on the type of frog. Everyone relates everything to chicken or other poultry because it's so common though. I'd say most large frogs don't have that sweetness that a lot of shellfish have but have a lot of the same flavor?
