So, after Veeky Forums advocating the old nofap alot, I decided to take it further
What I did, was 30 days with
>No internet (apart from paying bills) >No porn >No masturbation >No videogames or TV
And let me say, now that it's done Computers are cancer
My mind, once I got over the initial boredom, reached a whole new level My creativity went through the roof, my energy skyrocketed, my productivity was off the charts
All because I dropped the "entertainment" cancers we surround ourselves with
I'm not trying to act like I'm better than others or something, but take my advice
DROP VIDEOGAMES/INTERNET/MASTURBATION/ETC It will massively improve your life
>he thinks everyone is autistic vidya-addicted onanist
Kayden Cox
Read books, had sex, got better at playing guitar, etc

My family had no internet for a few weeks over the summer, and it was honestly great.
I'm too lonely to turn the internet off when at uni however since I literally have no friends. The internet allows me some sort of socialising at least.
Aaron Gonzalez
Nothing you've said has anything to do with Veeky Forums
Also books can be seen as entertainment, so what are you getting at?
Parker Clark
Veeky Forums is like Wilson the ball for me, I'd go insane without it. I have no one left.
Joshua Hill
Nofap used to work wonders for becoming more sociable and witty but now it just makes me sleep deprived, I get blue balls and my voice becomes higher pitched with none of the benefits besides a slightly fuzzier feeling inside but I'd rather not risk my health sleeping three hours on average.
Hunter Ramirez
Sounds kinda boring desu
Easton Allen
I used to be a big nofap guy too, but I've noticed I'm actually more productive after masturbating. Despite having less energy, I can actually get started on things and can focus better. Still think porn is shit though
Noah King
Fuck off this board with your /r9k/ epiphanies.
John Cox
ok. ok. wow. just... ok.

Using the internet sparingly is best for me (youtube turorials, research, downloading books, contact with friends), but then once I start I can't stop. Every link seems fascinating. Veeky Forums feels like a comfy retreat. Youtube has endless entertainment.
The main problem is that if I could just cut off my internet, I'd be fine. But that is not practical today. *Everything* is online. Wat do?
Thomas Green
Nofap is awful if you don't get laid
In my single days I stuck to the "once a week" fap plan
Now I haven't masturbated in over a year, but I get laid alot
Joshua Russell
You're describing being stuck in habit loops. Here's one possible way to fix the problem you have described
>practice a technique such as the 5 second rule* to change what you're doing once you notice you've become distracted >practice mindfulness** (be conscious of your thoughts) so that once the 5 second rule becomes habit, it "kicks in" more often
** you'll get better at this the more you do it. Some people have claimed that practicing meditation daily speeds up the process.
Another technique you could do is what's called the 10/10/10 rule. You adopt the model of reality in which every moment of your life is a decision with which you're faced. Whenever you suddenly remember this and become MINDFUL of the fact that you're about to make a decision (take action), ask yourself how it will impact your life 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years from now.
example: >enter room >see table on top of which is a bowl of candy >you get the urge to eat some candy >suddenly realize you're faced with a decision >eat candy or dont eat candy >if you eat the candy, 10 minutes from now you'll just want more candy. 10 months from now you'll have succumbed to the habit of eating candy whenever you feel like it. 10 years from now you're fat as fatass with sugar ass teeth decayed from it. >dont eat candy, 10 minutes from now the urge has passed, 10 months from now you've broken the habit of ever eating ANY candy, 10 years from now you're still older and fatter but at least you don't have diabetus.
well cyalat4r you fucking faggot
Ian Watson
did you invent something out your creative impulses or are you still a useless slob ?
Henry Collins
The only one of those I even do/use is the internet.
I can't exactly drop it since I telecommute and need the internet to do my job.
Blake Moore
It's called slothism, OP, the idea that entertainment keeps us away from the slow times our brain needs.
Cameron Johnson
How is this related to literature?
Landon Cox
There's literally nothing wrong with masturbation as long as: 1) you don't look at porn 2) you don't do it too much (2 times per week tops) 3) don't take more than 10 minutes (no edging)
Jack Ortiz
>>My creativity went through the roof, my energy skyrocketed, my productivity was off the charts > >All because I dropped the "entertainment" cancers we surround ourselves with yeah and what you did during this month was still entertainment.
Joshua Price
that sounds less like minimalism and more like asceticism
