Literature in portuguese is underrated. Non-portuguese people can't even manage to read Pessoa and Saramago that are both very good, modern and accessible. Camões, then, is out of their reach.

The same thing can be said of Brazil and Latin america: there are several great writers, poets, painters, sculptors and film-makers. So why dont you criticize the spaniard for talking with disrespect and ignorance of other people's land? If we judge by literature alone, for example, some Latin american countries might be even richer than Spain.

You can't realistically compare any latin american country to Spain in terms of arts contribution. You'd have to lump them all together. The spaniard is only wrong in saying Castilian is better than Euro Portuguese. Whether a retarded lisp or Polish-tier phonetics - they're both equally unpleasant and lose in gracefulness to colonial variants.

Who cares about whose country or language is better.
