How is it impossible to enjoy pic related if you're not already a pedophile?

i tried to read it and i just felt like it was trying to arouse me into having sexual feelings towards children

am i supposed to enjoy this? resist it? it's like reading gay porn

you have to get through the book, the ending is the most important part
then you'll see

>i tried to read it and i just felt like it was trying to arouse me into having sexual feelings towards children
I got a massive boner while reading it, does that mean i'm a pedophile?

liking kids is about as Veeky Forums as you can get

look at the greeks

i think you meant "liking homosex"

>tfw read this book without getting aroused and was instead repulsed by Humbert's actions, easily seeing through his pretensions

Am I a normie?

Well seeing how homosexuality is the gateway into pedophilia, he's not wrong.

Nay, the book was quite a sexual one, just outta comprehend why Nabokov wrote like so eh.

kids=patrician
boys=patrician
young boys=ubermensch

>his pretensions

he's a pedophile. did you uncover anything else?

>it's like reading gay porn
No it isn't buttlord.
The arousing language is an important part of the book, it has a purpose. Imagine if he was writing the same descriptions and shit, but instead her age was changed to 18.
It would still be arousing. But she's not 18 so now you feel kinda bad. How could these descriptions of tan skin and soft legs be arrousing to me?
And then Humbert constantly talks about how bad he feels for doing and thinking these things.
And now you sympathize with him on a deep level without even realizing.

No, you're not supposed to be aroused. You're just being seduced by the language. Concentrate more on how he writes and less on what he's writing about.

Do you know how many times people have already baited with this exact question? Fuck off.

As a matter of fact, I don't. I tried reading it, too. I got about a third of the way in, to the point where he's living in the house with the girl but has only molested her. Frankly, it's disgusting, disturbing, and freakish.

>inb4 methinks thou protest too much

Fuck off. That shit was groce.

fuck off moralist
you don't deserve literature
go read YA

Morality is the fabric which holds society together. If you like computers and air-conditioning, you can suck my left dick, shitlord.

>has only molested her.
That didn't even happen.
I know the part you are thinking of, you are misremembering or you just didn't understand to begin with,

...

>not wanting to read a book because a character in it behaves immorally

You have nothing to blame but your own stupidity and philistinism.

i tried to read it and i just felt like it was trying to arouse me into having psychopathic feelings towards humans

am i supposed to enjoy this? resist it? it's like watching torture porn

But it isn't real - it's a work of fiction. You seem to have tremendous difficulty understanding this.

>forgot pic
>fuk
>there goes the joke

Gaston pls

moralfags should just kill themselves

She's not really a child though in the strict sense of the word. Some younger girls can appear quite grown up, and it's not like your penis knows what an age of consent is.

Yeah it's illegal and wrong but so are a lot of the things that happen in books so I don't know why you're being such a moralfag.

...

>start reading Lolita
>Pretty good, pedo themes aside
>French out of nowhere

wtf Veeky Forums. You never told me I needed to know French to understand the book.

>how is it impossible to enjoy if you are not a pedophile

This means, "how is it possible to enjoy this if you are a pedophile." And that question cuts straight to the heart of the novel.

It is an expose on the paraphilia, the fetish, which takes the form of a complete, bare-faced account of sexual feelings toward those the law has deemed "unable to consent," yet who do almost nothing but search for their sexual selves (teenagers). The book is not so much about pedophilia, but about ephebophilia (which is attraction to adolescents).

So, pedophiles (people who like ACTUAL CHILDREN) would not enjoy this book on two levels: the first and most obvious, that it is not about sex with children but with young teenagers, and the second, that this book incises too closely into the psychological background of fetish generation. The latter makes any pedophile righteously uncomfortable

Unironically these.

Lo was 12, not a teenager. You're right on about this in-between phase being exactly what was so tantalizing to HH.

OP stop projecting pls. Nabokov wrote HH to be literally a tall, dark and handsome man with movie star presence but with an internal monologue belonging to a dusty, creeping academic.

Similarly, Lo was not written to behave as a 12 year old, because we aren't seeing from her perspective. She's an impossibly seductive temptress, moreso than any adult woman could be.

>I refuse to read something that makes me uncomfortable
Are you a woman?
