If I own them, and they are not rare or old, I have no problem with it. I also mark, underline, throw them in the trash, etc.

I use bookmarks that have some sentiment attached to them. I visited the Hemingway bar in Prague and took a napkin to use as a bookmark

I don't have anything against it, but I have a drawer full of bookmarks and when I finish a book the bookmark goes back in the drawer anyway, so it kind of seems pointless. I'd just be doing it to do it.
