Animal Farm

What is your opinion about the animal farm book wrote by George Orwell?

Do your own book report

it was aight

I read it when I was 10. I thought it was awesome. I just reread it to my daughter. She is 6. She thought it was sad. I thought it was heavy handed.

>I read it when I was 10
You are a fucking idiot

>I just reread it to my daughter. She is 6. She thought it was sad.
Your whore daughter will be a fucking idiot too.

edgy, but ineffective.

the rye field represents childhood

>calling someone's 6 year old daughter a whore on the internet

It's badly written, and presents half truths when it comes to communism. Honestly, they should've put Orwell in gulag for this shitshow

...

well, most lefties were pretty butthurt with stalin after the purges desu

Lmao

What artistic or literary justification did he have for making them animals?
Is something more truthful if a pig says it?

Something is more truthful if 100 pigs say it
Democracy for you

When I read it as a 14 year old:
>Surely people can't actually be this dumb? Why did the other animals just let the pigs bullshit them? Real people aren't actually like sheep.

Reflecting back on it as a 24 year old:
>Wow I can't believe how much more respect I had for other peoples' intelligence back then. Yeah, communism could never work as long as most people are as ignorant and small minded as they are.

>witnessing your own retardation

yeah the animal metaphor is sure to be lost on your child if she is only 6.

Does Veeky Forums actually like Orwell? His prose is rubbish and his themes have no subtlety whatsoever

>Yeah, communism could never work as long as most people are as ignorant and small minded as they are.
I've had a similar thought to this, not neccesarily thinking that people are too dumb for communism, but that they are way too used to live in capitalism, and for developing communism or anarchism you need to have the mindstet of "this is the society i want", so i think the only way it could work would be sending all the people who are disposed to create a communist society to another planet.

Read it when I was a teenager, thought it was overrated but decent. Looking back, I think it should be required reading because it seems more relevant now than 15 years ago.

>sending all the people who are disposed to create a communist society to another planet.
I also support this, although maybe not for the same reasons you do.

Why did he hate pigs?

The warning was accurate.
The book is poorly written, too much repetition, uninteresting, etc. Because of that, I couldn't care less who died nor did I find it anything other than predictable and annoying. The famous quote is in my opinion the only thing of value. I'd give it a 4 or 5.

Communism as an idea itself is already stupid.

but jews are geniuses clearly, so marxism, like freudianism, must have become popular because it's such a great idea and not because it's a bunch of bullshit foisted on the west by a network of judaic academics and activists

A great essay. As a novel it is also decent. Better than Nineteen Eigthy-Four in my honest opinion.

Didn't have nearly as an effect on me as a young person as Lord of the Flies did, LOTF fucked me right up when I read it in high school.

Daily reminder that George Orwell fought for the communists in the spanish civil war.

>all goof writing is aesthetically pleasing

Are you fucking dense user

I loved pig brother.

Communism/socialism objectively makes no sense. Why should I care about providing for everyone else? That shit became obsolete when we stopped living in tribes. There's really no reason why I should care about people who live hundreds of miles away from me, aside from family members.
