your characters are humans instead of plankton or sports cars.

It starts off with your protagonist waking up in a white room.

Heh, tough luck. Just finished Porsche & Plankton, a childrens story about two unlikely friends.

Kek

Nihilistic drunk writer in a novel in which he fucks, writes, drinks and gets in shenanigans because he's a deeply flawed character and possibly a metaphor for the authors lack of motivation to come up with anything of substance.

>Opening line/paragraph uses more impactful imagery than the rest of the piece.
>Full circle ending.
>It's a thinly-veiled allegory.
>Main character strongly resembles the author.
>Names are chosen for symbolic rather than sonic effect.
>Something incredibly edgy.
>Failed relationship(s).

Character kills himself in the end in a poetic way

>sonic effect.
Why don't you just call it sound ?

sound is cliché

Because "sound" isn't an adjective, so I'd either have to break up the parallel structure, resulting in either:
>Names are chosen for the symbolic effect rather than the sound.
or
>Names are chosen for symbolic effect rather than sound.
both of which sound awful. The other option would be to eliminate the adjective and say:
>Names are chosen for symbolism rather than for sound.
but this has the problem of repeating "for."

is also correct.

Wonder Boys sucked

hey, not so fast! i can't write everything down!

That's not what makes cliches bad you fucking idiot. Cliches are bad because authors slot them in without thought, substituting anything interesting for something not.

Whatever the character of your cliches, if you have them, they will be equally bad. Why you would use them while simultaneously caring about anything but money, I don't know.

That's my every character
