Gravity exists

>gravity exists

How the fuck can an object act on another object without touching it? Fucking magic? Literally doesn't make any sense. So much for "science" and "rationality."

science is pretty much magic at this point desu

they are touching, there is a gravity field between them

>tfw 500 years of the scientific method have have created more questions than answers
mankind is fucked

If it didn't, scientific epistemology would be an unqualified failure. the ability to create more questions is the entire damn point of all the formalism and bullshit.

>what are gravitons

>what are made-up bullshit

What is more realistic
>muh gravity wave field magic
>another elementary particle

Both. At the same time.

Matter warps space. Objects don't attract each other, and gravity doesn't pull. It's the distorted space around physical mass that PUSHES other objects toward them, from the opposite side.

Let's use antlion pits as a visual. These are traps that tiny insects fall inside and get eaten by a waiting antlion in the center. The pits are dug at such an angle that it's almost impossible to climb back out, because the sand will slide inwards if you try.
Looking at one of these pits from a birds-eye view, you can see how gravity is actually a pushing motion coming from all directions, not a pulling motion from a center force.

In order for a physical mass to exist, it sort of needs to displace the space surrounding it, because it the mass takes up its OWN space. Space wants to be uniform, but there's this mass of material in the way, so it creates a constant pushing motion from all sides.

>massive objects bend spacetime
>geodesics of other objects follow the warped spacetime

what is the problem

>Space wants to be
haha

Is gravity pulling things closer together?

or

Is empty space pushing mater closer together?

>they are touching
user, please.

I thought the point of philosophy was to ask questions? Everyone's a fucking critic nowadays when they don't understand anything about the source.

If and empty space is pushing matter closer then is not an empty space, is a energy, gravity.

Brainlets like OP will never understand "spacetime" since it's not directly visible to them

It's done with magnets.

Antlions ftw.

If you knew anything about physics, you'd know that even when you think objects are "touching" they never actually touch. There are no contact forces.

Gee, I guess magnets don't interact either.

>everything is intuitive to my localised animal perspective, therefor wrong
How the fuck does a mobile phone work? Fucking magic? Literally doesn't make any sense. So much for "science" and "rationality."

You don't understand or see the mechanisms of a phone, in fact this rings true for pretty much everything in your life. Is it all just bullshit, then?

so what then is this flat universe theory? 2 dimensional? The 2nd thing would just fall strait into the other object with no velocity

It's a field.

this curved spacetime theory is trash homie... it uses gravity to explain itself... which on the solar scale is the acceleration of the solar system through the galaxy

>Matter warps space

Get these people off of Veeky Forums and back to youknowwhere.

In order for that diagram to work, it should be made clear that there is aerobreaking happening. An object coming into a system carries with it the potential to exit it. In order to enter an orbit, it has to bleed off excess energy somehow.

the problem with this analogy is that people will think it needs gravity to work in the first place, but thats not the point.

the point is that a straight line drawn over those ant pits would curve towards the pits. no gravity needed. see
