A couple of you, minimum, have read philosophy extensively... So, how does one live the good life? Let's read your gems of wisdom.

By not asking advice from chantards

Keep busy

By not getting abused by others. Surround yourself with friends and spend >70% of your time alone.
If there are an infinite number of timelines with me in it, as long as i'm in the top 50% of the timelines then i've lived the good life.

just b urself

Fortitude is a virtue and none more true.

the essential point is that
-there is desire of something (desire alone does not exists)
-once you see that cannot control[=make it appear, disappear, change] the desire, nor the object of the desire [=make it appear, disappear, change] you get dispassionate towards the desire and its object.

you have these levels of existence:

>faith in hedonism+hedonism through the 5 senses and thoughts
anybody born on earth begins here
>faith in hedonism+hedonism through what people call meditation
a few people get good at mediation and those people still have faith in hedonism, they think that the deep states in mediation connect them some god, some devas, some universal love, some cosmic spirit
this state is the fantasy of liberals, who try to make people happy, by giving the means to people to fulfill their libido (like food, shelter, travel...) hoping that people will be nice to each other if they have the secure, assured means of the realization of their fantasy of '''primal'' libido (liberals love to talk about needs, instead of libido, so that it does not responsibilize them) and will be happy if they fulfill their higher desires (hedonists love to grade their desires). Liberals fundamentally misunderstand hedonism.
>no faith in hedonism+hedonism through the 5 senses and thoughts
this is the the sotapana level, you see that hedonism does not make you happy, but you still care about pleasures through the five senses, you still have fantasies about the five senses and you have pride about the success of what you care (= the five senses) even though you know there is no point in caring about this in order to be happy
>no faith in hedonism+hedonism through the meditation
this the anagami level, you no longer care about sensual pleasures, but you live through meditation (even though you know that it wont make you happy) like you lived through the sensual pleasure when you were a normal animal or a sotapana
>no faith in hedonism+no hedonism
this is the aharant

Stop watching porn

what is your opinion of the aghori way of life ?

>Stop watching porn

Is it best to fap to my imagination or are (non nude) pictures OK?

It is best to get a wife and make babies with her.

>you see that hedonism does not make you happy
What makes you happy then? Lack of desire?

50% of infinity is infinity.

Is this American logic? Eating burgers all week then just pop a pill with fish stuff in it, instead of just eating a fish to begin with?

>how do I get a nut off?
>trick a woman and make a baby

That's not very resourceful

50% of infinity is twice as small as infinity

No, friend. There aren't different infinities.

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

>Stop watching porn

I hear that one. My life has significantly improved since no I no longer watch porn.

Sure that's fine i guess. I found, however, that when I stopped watching porn I also eventually stopped masturbating daily.

you just keep doing more philosophy

>There aren't different infinities

Philosophy hasn't been about living the good life in literally millenia, OP. What you want is cognitive behavioral therapy.

>exercise 3 or more times a week
>have good friendships
>volunteer
>create
>romance

No one is perfect at it or born doing it well. Practice practice practice. Thats how you get to Carnegie Hall

Be just.

Specifically, be just in the Platonic sense. Have your inner self in order. Organize your soul in a way that elicits harmony, with your reason, spirit, and appetites in balance.

This is how I try to live, and it's honestly pretty nice. It may not be for everyone, though.

>No, friend. There aren't different infinities.
kek

Exercise regularly, become self-sufficient and marry a traditionally minded wife.

Infinity isn't a number it's a concept

Jodorowsky (alejandro) has some nice maxims he saved from his Zen master teacher while he was a pupil:

Ground your attention on yourself. Be conscious at every moment of what you are thinking, sensing, feeling, desiring, and doing.
Always finish what you have begun.
Do not become attached to anything that can destroy you in the course of time.
Stop defining yourself.
Make work plans and accomplish them.
If you lack faith, pretend to have it.
Do not allow yourself to be impressed by strong personalities.
Sleep and eat only as much as necessary.
Do not follow fashions.
Do not sell yourself.
Never envy the luck or success of anyone.
Do not think of the profits your work will engender.
In any discussion, put yourself in the other person’s place.
Do not eliminate, but transmute.
Do not react to what others say about you, whether praise or blame.
Transform your pride into dignity.
Transform your anger into creativity.
Transform your greed into respect for beauty.
Transform your envy into admiration for the values of the other.
Transform your hate into charity.
Neither praise nor insult yourself.
Do not complain.
Develop your imagination.
Do not try to distinguish yourself by your appearance.
Never contradict; instead, be silent.
Do not contract debts; acquire and pay immediately.
Do not keep useless objects.
Justify yourself to no one, and keep your own counsel.
Wherever you live, always find a space that you devote to the sacred.
If you are hesitating between doing and not doing, take the risk of doing.
Obtain things in order to share them.

Following Stirner winds up with you naked in the woods catching and killing rats with your hands.

Those whom reply are parrots, with no wisdom of their own to impart. Regurgitated platitudes of dead men are good for auguring naught but the minds of dead men. How much of a dead man are you?

whoa this. probs to the guy that knows this

Alright, despite my urge to assume you meant to ask "what's the meaning of life," I'll put it away and just answer your question.

Pt 1.
A few key things: Change, Fantasy, Knowledge, and Ability.
If you wanna actually be happy you have to have some kind of fantasy, everybody does, but we learn to kill it, which works sometimes, but happiness bought through reality isn't really happiness. When you say "how do I be happy" you actually mean "how do I live out my fantasy without leaving my reality," so if the answer is to live in the present and accept everything as it is then this is not happiness but appeasement or contentedness, in contrast to beatitude which is what you're talking about.
So what you need is to think of what you want, but it can't be something simple, nobody -really- wants to major in engineering, what they actually want is more unreal. Think of what you actually want, from the bottom of your heart. Got it? Gud. Next step.
Next step is to achieve it, this basically means throwing away your current life and hurling yourself towards your dreams at a million miles a minute. Throw away your current personality, current memories, hobbies, habits and lifestyle, and remake yourself starting with the most fundamental things.
A lot of people care too much about the way of the world to achieve anything. For instance many people don't learn to play an instrument because they have nowhere to play without being a disturbance to people. What you need to do is play at all costs, if you can't play at home play outside. Most people would rather put down the instrument than do something which might make them look strange to other people. But here's the reality, who's really in the wrong here, the guy giving it his all for an impossibility or the intellectually stunted shitter living in quiet desperation trying to scrounge up a few hours of sleep for the next shift at the warehouse?

Pt 2.
You can do whatever the fuck you want in life, never be afraid to be the first person on earth to do something, it's easier than you think, all those prodigies and experts out there aren't any smarter or capable than you are, the difference is in the logistics; that means habits, circumstances, and the fact that those people have a certain familiarity with a given subject that enables them to do well in it because they don't think of it as some unattainable thing. Shitters mystify societal differences so it seems that people like mathematicians are such by divine decree. In reality nobody is that different. You have to see through the veil of society and industry.
Also, miracles happen.
So you have to burn the candle at both ends. We live in the 21st century, we have machines that will take you across the continent on $356 worth of gas. You can literally pick up, go anywhere you want, sleep in your car and work and pay for community college, then transfer anywhere you fucking want depending on your performance.
Having the initiative to actually believe and set out to accomplish what you want will get you pretty close to happiness. But ultimate happiness is in God as our hearts are restless until we find rest in him.

I don't know. Ask me in a hundred years.

Can someone explain to me what they personally get out of nofap/noporn? I've read all the sensationalist stuff that gets posted all the time, but what have you personally noticed? I went without porn or masturbation for 50 days a few months ago and all I noticed was that the way I started to see women was becoming kind of repulsive, like, even older unattractive women I wouldn't be able to talk to without having thoughts of fucking them in deprived ways filling my head, and I became hypersensitive to even the tiniest bits of skin or curves on every woman I passed.

After I broke the streak I felt like I was instantly able to chat with women like peers rather than prey and had better overall concentration. I've made a few attempts at it since, but I can never get far because the only effects I see are becoming really easily distracted by anything sexual.

Who is this anime girl and why is she flying next to a Mirage F1?

Live not in virtue, excellence or superiority - only in dignity.

Diana.

I read philosophy with a grain of salt. I think everyone is an author to their own personal way of living, so look inside your own self and develop your own system that allows you to survive in a world full of people trying to do the same.

Follow your own passions, not the passions that others have found for themselves and seek to influence others with. I think following in someone else's way of living is a sign of personal insecurity and lack of personal development. If you don't know what makes you happy that is a failure in your own part to provide direction to your own life.

Looking inside yourself is the only way you will ever find the path to a "good" life, because true happiness can only really be found from within. Know yourself, learn yourself and find an answer to guide your own life.

Did this end well? I watch the first three episodes and sort of never went back to it.

One more episode left, it's OK.

>So, how does one live the good life?
Have fish for dinner atleast three times a week, work out and drink moderately.
